A. The Lab

As much as Ganeshan requires supplies to create Custom Jobs, he need help at home base. With the large number of potential applicants, outworlders and Curti Center employees are invited to help out in the lab, not only with testing transfer of Jobs to crystals, but in developing the abilities and running safety tests.

Easier said than done when all of these cats aren't roaming throughout the center and claiming everything to be their sitting spot. The interns are trying their best to catherd to little avail.

B. Job Development

The break room contains formal submission papers and pamphlets describing the steps required to develop a Custom Job. Senior employees are available to help characters workshop the abilities, but they mostly want to remain in the break rooms to avoid Ganeshan's constant Job mania. His booming voice is muffled through the doors, interspersed with allergic sneezing.

A room has been prepared for those to practice using their basic job abilities, primarily in making sure they're stable yet not too weak. There is a chance that an improper ability extraction can go wrong and hurt the user, so Ganeshan has group of White Mages are on standby in case things go south.

For those that would rather have all the fun without the work, there is the Ability Simulation and Modeling Room, where characters can design their abilities on the computer and see them play out on the screen before them. There's no limit here, and since Jessie is too busy to keep an eye on everyone, the outfits and visual effects have the potential to get...very, very silly.

C. Heigh-Ho

It's off to work you go. Those crystals won't mine themselves, and anyone strong enough must enter the mine in search of the necessary material. It's tedious, difficult work, and some of these are embedded so deeply in the rock that they might be more trouble than they're worth. Not to mention those gross bugs might not like their homes to be disturbed.

There's also the fact that monsters have a tendency to wander inside and attack, so they'll need some reliable body guards.

There should be more crystals deeper inside, but someone else will have to scout the area...

D. Explore the Dungeon

Which is where this team comes in. All the good stuff is deep in this mine, and reliable navigators are necessary to map out the tunnels without getting lost. There's also the fact that the previous owners of a time long ago didn't want opportunists to take their precious resources and outfitted the rooms with puzzles.

Door Locks are puzzles. Pressure plates activate traps. It's the ultimate test of critical thinking. Some of these don't make sense if you think for too long. Why did they go through all the trouble to program time-based puzzles with falling blocks and symbols? The Pupu are strange. At least the bats here are easy to fight, and the mine cart rides are fun.

[A. The Lab]

While the idea of Custom Jobs is rather fascinating, Naomi herself wouldn't be actively attempting to get one. Instead, she's here to help make sure the process goes smoothly between the crystals and testing. However, someone failed to mention there would be so many cats. Why were there cats? She can easily make her way through them, but it's the part where they decide to lie in front of or on anything she's currently working on.

Several eyes narrow as she removed yet another while she's working on a crystal transference, stopping their paw from batting at the crystal in the middle of it all. She's not even looking when she hands the cat over to the closest person that doesn't seem busy.

[D. Explore the Dungeon]

They needed groups for this and a reliable navigator to map out the tunnels. It was something she was capable of doing thanks to her form - nothing to the level of a minotaur, but she had better vision in the dark and could detect other routes through vibrations without having to go down other paths. She still would just for a complete map, but other than that, reaching the rooms wouldn't be a problem.

Proceeding forward once they arrived to the rooms, she would leave to the others while finishing up her notes.

Riku leans against a stretch of free wall near her working space, taking a break from practicing moves for his new job. A couple of cats have around twined themselves around his ankles, clawing at the hem of his jeans for attention, but he's been doing okay just ignoring them. He's gotten used to the ceaseless attention from the cats over the past couple of weeks and has learned that he can't please them all.

But when Naomi suddenly lifts up a cat that's been disturbing her and tries to pass it over without looking up from her work, Riku feels he has no choice but to accept the armful of feline being presented to him. However, once the cat is securely in his arms he's at a bit of a loss as to what to do next. If he puts it down wouldn't it just go back to its original spot and annoy the woman again?

"Uh...what should I do with him?" They really should get some kind of pin to put all these cats in, yeesh.

The Lab
Kuja, of course, had jumped at the chance to see his powers returned to him. Not that he had a problem with being a Black Mage, per se, but he still preferred his own skills. So, when he'd made his appearance at the Curti Center, he'd been quite surprised to learn that apparently Parasraya had come to visit.
He and a few others had been begged by beleaguered interns to assist with the cat-herding, with the implied bonus of, perhaps, a little preferential treatment vis-a-vis queue order.
Kuja felt, for one, that he ought to be congratulated on his solution to the problem. Cats hate water, known fact. Black Mages can cast Water spells. So, having dialed down the standard Water spell from 'fire hose' to 'squirt bottle', Kuja assists, in the best way he knows how.

Job Development
Kuja snaps his fingers, staring intently at the plum-sized ball of Flare Fire in his hands. He's sweating profusely, gritting his teeth, but the red flame, black at the center, is maintaining, dammit, and that's better than he's seen since he got here. "Nnnngggh!"
The fire flickers, and then dies, and he has to sit back, panting. "Gods. It's still too weak, and I feel like I'm running a marathon up-hill just managing that much.."

Heigh-ho
Well, this is boring. At least it's going to a good cause. Kuja's already shattered a few Earth Elementals, and at present can be found hovering around the edge of the mining party, eyes peeled for any sign of danger, with a supremely disinterested expression on his face. He's borderline useless for digging around in the dirt, and he just knows he's going to develop black lung from all the dust in the air. Why on earth did they ask him to help with this job?

Explore the Dungeon
Deeper in, of course, is a different story. Puzzles and needlessly-complicated architecture laden with deathtraps? The genome is in his element, for certain, even taking notes on the things he sees on his iMog slate.
"Oh, I like this. Look here, the entire floor is one giant lever; too much weight on either side of the room and down you all go into the spike pit. How very clever..."

Frisk, casual outfit soiled with dirt and ripped in several places, gives an exaggerated sigh and leans against the wall as well, blowing a loose lock of brown hair out of their face. They look at Kuja, eyebrow raised. How on Vaikuntha did that man keep his clothes clean? Probably through either a supernatural with his pick of Satan-analogues, or very, very carefully. Frisk was burning with curiosity. "How did you manage it? Keeping your clothes clean." They look Kuja up and down appraisingly. "Especially with an outfit like that. Holy crap, that's some style."

DUNGEON EXPLORING! Vax, Castor, Shiro, Yotsuyu, Gi, and Noctis

[Adventure calls! Or something like that.

The mine has to be traversed, and thus Vax is here to traverse it. This means that he needs to be prepared for going into a dungeon. He spent some of his hard-earned gil as a mail carrier on the things he knows he'll need: 50 feet of hempen rope, a crow bar, a hammer, ten pitons, ten torches, a piece of chalk, and rations. He has it as a backpack, slung over his shoulder.

And he is at the head of a group. He turns to look at them.]

All right. Thanks for volunteering. Or being voluntold, if that's how you want to roll with it. [The half-elf tilts his head.]

Now, then. Not sure how many of you have wandered around in dusty old fucking halls before, looking for ancient treasures or just some shit someone dropped.

So... here we are, yeah? Any questions, before we dig in?

["Voluntold" is a very good way to put it. Yotsuyu hadn't planned on volunteering help to any of the exploration teams, but Kuposagi was incessant with her nagging. After a solid 48 hours, she managed to wear Yotsuyu down; even if the former viceroy isn't much for helping others, there are few things she wouldn't do to get her moogle to be quiet.]

[Besides, the mine had monsters, and she had some pent up rage to release. Her Gunslinger gear should be more than enough, but she also has Tactician on standby if need be.]

Yes, what exactly is it that we'll be doing here? If all this involved was wandering around dusty old halls, surely the locals would be sufficient.

A
Klonoa looks a bit haggard from attempting to herd cats today, but he's still at it, though his footsteps are noticeably faltering. How long has it been since he had something to eat...? He's putting them out, one by one, but every time he comes back it's like half of them have already returned. He could swear that he's put that black one with the white spots outside three times already. All he can do is try to step the ever-flowing tide of felines with everything in his arsenal. Klonoa opens the door, holding a cat in one arm and with two draped from his ears wrapped around them, awkwardly stepping outside to set them down. Weaving a little on the way back in, he's very obviously in need of a break.


B
At one of the computers, Klonoa is working to see what would happen if you combined the asterisks that already exist. Dragoon, Swordmaster, White Mage, Gourmand, Monk, Red Mage... In combination, they're all making some pretty bizarre combinations.

...Wait.

Is he just picking all the jobs that have something to do with "wind" and trying to add them together?

Klonoa moves to and fro, carrying blocks and sliding them onto pressure plates, coming up with clever ways to pull them with him after he moves past the obstacles. Swinging spike traps? Push a block in to block them. Arrows shooting down from above? Hold the block above his head (Oof, this is so much easier with the wind ring). He seems like he's having fun, even.

Eventually, he pauses there, just looking between two doors and two pressure plates with switches. He shakes his head, turning around.

"This one needs more than one person."

D. The puzzles back home were safer

If nothing else, Orcelito can come out of this congratulating himself for staying alive.

Oh, the non-lethal puzzles weren't bad. (Those were fun, actually!) Being shot at was not, and he's grateful to accompany those who were more prepared. He's watched as teammates tripped and disarmed traps, learning from them before attempting the dangerous ones himself. It is that learning that has him freeze in place now.

"Ah..." The blond boy, hair mussed from narrow escapes and coat torn in one corner from a close call, studies the walls, the floor, the ceiling... are there any holes? Cracks? Mysteriously gated-off areas? Hm... the two doors are concerning, though.

"It doesn't look like a trap. But... you are sure about this? We should test it first."

-It unfortunately goes without question that while Baiken was happy to have her Demon Tools back, it was pretty much impossible for to teach people her particular set of skills unless they were willing to literally give up an arm for it. So she didn't really bother with the idea of training anyone else, at first, focusing instead on trying to pick up where she left off. It had been some time, and she was a little rusty, and these Curti Center developed approximations of the original Demon Tools would take some getting used to...

Which is why when she fired off the small cannon hidden among them on accident, sending a ball hurdling towards whatever unfortunate fool happened to be across from her.-

Uh... whoops. -Indeed.-

-She'd been assured that no offense was meant when she was turned down for mining work, it was just the equipment HAD been designed with two arms in mind, and. well. But hey, she did have a role to serve, at least, given her strength and presence was the sort that would helpfully drive away any monsters and bugs that came crawling out of the darkness to interrupt their efforts. Even Baiken could admit she DID make a damn good body guard.

But she was getting a little bored, repeatedly opening up her cask to pull long drinks, groaning as she did so.- It's a mix of too damn quiet and too damn loud at the same damn time. I hate this...

[ d - coming for you don't close an eye - looking for part members ]

-Hey, it was still technically body guard duty, but at least it was MOBILE body guard duty instead of remaining stationary in the same gratingly loud bit of mining tunnel. Baiken was a reliably heavy when needed, though she absolutely had no acumen for puzzle solving. If her reputation from that weird gauntlet was any indication, she was more the type to solve puzzles by slicing them in half. Which was probably a bad thing, all things considered.

Still, if one needs a good fighter to balance out their team of explores, Baiken's willing to come along. Just don't mind her smoking. Or being surly. Or just. Being Baiken, really.-

C

A battered and bloodied Frisk, much of their clothes in tatters, straight-up glares at Baiken when she says things are "too quiet." She did not just say that. Groaning as they peel themself off the wall, they jab an accusing finger at the one-armed samurai.

"No. You do not get to say things like 'it's too quiet' and 'that was easy' in a world full of fantasy cliches like this one. Do you have any idea how many elementals and golems I've had to fight today? And the day before that? And the day before that? The white mages did a good job of healing up all the major injuries, but I swear if I get clobbered by some nasty monster in a few moments I am blaming you." An achey Frisk makes for an angry Frisk.

A - The lab

Cor eventually answers the call for aid in creating custom jobs. But when he arrives, it's pretty easy to see what the biggest hurdle is to conquer. "...have no one thought about buying a shipping crate worth of cat food?" He grumbles to anyone nearby, even as he carefully pries a particular loud, protesting kitten off of a privacy curtain.


B - Job...Practice?

Part of Cor is very wary about teaching any random stranger his particular set of skills. Not because they might not be worthy, but because it's something that he's cultivated for his personal fighting style. Still, he at least agreed to let them study his movements to compare them to similar classes already established.

He hadn't counted on actually missing those skills still, though, and one could eventually find him lost within the age-old routine from years past. Fast and deadly, Cor slowly works his way up towards his more devastating attacks...

Until some idiot steps within range of his Lion's Roar. He manages to pull it off to one side at the last second, but that doesn't stop the fury blooming within him. "What the hell where you thinking?!"


C - Mines

Help protect people from monsters? Must be a day that ends in 'y' for Cor. It's easy to keep an eye out for monsters, especially when he's switched over to Red Mage in order to use a weak Light spell to illuminate the area. But even he gets tired of simple guard duty, and he looks bored enough to possibly be open for further exploration...but only if he can be convinced it's needed.

C (that leads into D scenario?) :)

Ignis, donned in his full crownsguard uniform, his spell daggers at a hand and equipped with Ninja asterisk, has been patrolling some of the mines and hallways before descending on lower levels. He wanted to be absolutely sure that there was nothing lingering around- no bugs, no crawlies, any types of slimes and bats. Anything that can disrupt the mining.

"Marshal," Ignis addresses the older man once he arrives where he was keeping guard. It seemed sort of a crossroads that the others used as orienting place considering that the staircases were nearby. "The upper levels are clear."

[Making his own powers sounds like something for smart people. He's off to the other lab where the powers are made up and the fights don't matter. He starts out attempting to recreate himself with the program, but the result is some sort of uncanny mess of terrible proportions and glitches.

Might as well embrace it.]

Time to fuck this up!

[And put all the sliders to the extremes. It's time to create a monster.]

Cats

[Okuyasu knows better than to bring Stray Cat into a room of normal cats and hope they don't become mortal enemies. He's having fun luring them away with bits of tune, the best bait, and saving Ganeshan's sinuses.

But he has forgotten that the smell of tuna lingers, and when he leaves the break rooms, the cats continue to follow him into the computer lab. And into the hallway. And into the bathroom. They demand food!]

Fighting

[He has the power to look into the future, hell yeah. There's a Golem approaching the mines, hell yeah. Actually, hell no, but hell yeah he can put his new Job to the test!]

You're not gonna land a hit on me!

[He runs at the monster, staff in hand.

And is promptly smacked to the side.]

[Orcelito pauses mid-step in the puzzle he was working on and climbs onto the block to get a better view of the mine tunnel. A staff? Against a golem? Please tell him you're joking. No.

He flinches when the attack makes contact and immediately flicks his grimoire open.]

I can buy you time to recover. Freeze!

[One icy blast later, the golem is incased in ice. For now. That cracking sound is not reassuring....]

The Lab
Frisk had a distinct feeling that "total control over the timeline and resurrective immortality" wasn't exactly a thing that Custom Jobs could do, and they certainly didn't want the rumor that the little yellow ninja had delusions of grandeur circulating around the Center. Still, though, this was definitely a worthy cause, and considering Frisk would do most anything to get just another taste of that delectable ambrosia true scientific spaghetti, they had a vested interest in getting Papyrus a custom job stat. So Frisk's job is simple: keep the cats out of Ganeshan's way. Well, it's hypothetically simple, at any rate. Despite their patently ridiculous speed, Frisk has a difficult time catching the quick, furry bastards when the cats are really motivated to escape their grasp, and is almost always involved in a Looney Toons-esque chase with a particularly irascible feline.

Heigh-Ho!
The tunnel fills with thick smog for the second time in thirty seconds as Frisk drops another Smoke Bomb in response to one of the many, many monster-shaped interruptions that they had been dealing with ever since they ventured into the tunnels to help the miners. The poor sods didn't even really have the energy to curse them out anymore, but Frisk still feels obligated to yell, "Sorry!" in the general direction of the miners and their partners for the day before firing off a Water Ninjitsu at the latest batch of interlopers.

Explore the Dungeon
"Hamiltonian paths? Really?" Frisk says, looking at the long stretch of puzzles awaiting them, looking almost... disappointed. They took to this dungeon dive like a duck to water, and while they don't solve puzzles instantly, they're still fairly good at figuring things out after one or two tries. Muttering under their breath, Frisk's hands twitch as they count out possibilities, then they turn to their companion for the moment. "Okay, so I see two entrances. I think we're supposed to work together on this. Follow my lead?"

The lab

Nanamo had found one of the cats and it had decided to claim her lap as a perch. It was a soft black and white, and it was curled up on her lap, purring away as she watched Frisk chase the cats around. "Perhaps a treat or two would encourage them to stop making trouble," said Nanamo.

A) The Lab

As much as Sasami was wary of returning that aspect of her life back to her, she knew she didn't have much of a choice - she wanted to save the world and if that meant rebonding with Tsunami, so be it.

Of course, with so many cats around, they couldn't do much, so Sasami's ready to aid in rounding up those adorable balls of fluff. Gourmand job nearly at max, she's used it to prepare numerous meals for the cats as she also has tons of toys and other things to keep them busy.

Now, where the heck did they go?

B) Job Development

Okay, question - how does one go about designing the powers of a freaking goddess?! That's the problem Sasami's out to solve. Sure, there's the idea of trying to get her in lock, stock and barrel, but they won't do that at all! Way too powerful. And they might cause Bahamut to show up even faster!

To that end, Sasami's busy just modeling over how she thinks things could work here. Yes, you can question why it seems that Sasami is summoning an older version of herself for various attacks and effects, but she'll probably get flustered at it.

Also, don't question her job outfits. She's experimenting - not everyday you can pretend to be a Magical Girl!

D) Explore the Dungeon

Exploring dangerous dungeons filled with various traps, a few random monsters and a few other surprises? Count her in! Oh, sure, her Gourmand job isn't the best, but it's for a good cause! And besides, she's able to go out and about and prove her worth!

Granted, it's quite scary and who knows what other hidden stuff is in there. That's what you're here for: to watch over her.

Nanamo's new adopted cat was resting on her head when she approached Sasami. "Looking for something?" asked Nanamo curiously as her ball of fluff yawned sleepily.

[Alright, so there's cats everywhere. He'd had a bad run-in with a cat back in Ryslig, but it's not like they've ever hurt him since then, right? Too big for them to bother, and all. So he's fine! Just fine. As long as none of them sneak up on him or anything.

The harpy isn't helping to get rid of them at all, instead awkwardly attempting to befriend one of the lazier-looking kitties in the lab. His claws are good for scritches, so that's one point in his favor, even if he keeps pulling back when other cats get close.]

[Paperwork is a lot of effort, so computers are the way to go...is what I'd say, if Yue was any good with computers. He still picked that option, but trying to put a job together very quickly turned into "I wonder what this button does," which led to...well his current result looks like a mutant chocobo in a red mage costume.]

Hmm...maybe if I try this thing here? [Let's just push that slider riiight on up--]

[Riku isn't the most tech savvy himself, but at least he's taking the path of least resistance and just enjoying watching what other people come up with. He's not exactly super interesting in the cosmetic part of this experience; as long as his attacks do what they're supposed to he's not going to complain about how it looks. But he has to admit that he's seen a lot of people with some great creative ideas.

And then he gets to Yue. Squinting, he leans closer to the computer screen to get a better look and...yeah. He's still not sure what he's looking at.]

Are you...dressing your Moogle for battle too? [He didn't even know they could do that.]

S'reee wouldn't have described herself as livign wizardry, unlike some wizards she knew. She enjoyed occasionally taking time away. But months with only the asterisks had made her quite happy to replicate the powers, even if she'd need to figure out how to take as fluid a thing as the full power of Enacture -- the ability to alter the properties of the universe through language, if one knew the right words and had the right energy -- into an asterisk.

Right now, she's floating, tracing glowing circles of a curling script in the air, the written form of the Speech.

Guess who is good at 3-d pictures and mapping by echolocation? This whale. The downside is that any party with S'reee in it has her occasionally humming or whistling (or doing so at frequencies that you might not directly here. Hope you like the complete lack of stealth.

"The passage opens up ahead."

[Tidus doesn't have all that much to contribute. His main ability is 'blitzball prowess', and Vaikuntha has plenty of that on display already. He's more here out of curiosity, wondering just what his various allies are capable of. S'ree does not disappoint. He pokes his head up when she has a moment.]


Whoa, what was that?

[ B. Observe, Necronomicon! ]

[ With the reputation she's started to earn among the Curti Center staff, some of them end up more than a little surprised at how eagerly she throws herself at this. She gets a bit edgy if they start getting too invasive with any question or examinations, but besides that she's unusually cooperative, entirely game to volunteer for whatever ideas they have.

She's out on the testing floor as soon as they let her. And as soon as she's given the go ahead to try using one of her abilities... she closes her eyes for a moment, and there's an eruption of blue flame around the girl.

When it clears, she's wearing... something a rather different. The scientists observing her mumur to each other and start taking notes, clearly thinking she's done as she looks down at herelf. But then Futaba looks up, grinning at whoever happens to be nearby.

Then reaching up, she hooks her fingers underneath the edge of her mask, and tears it off with a flourish. ]

Persona!

[ The mask turns back into blue flame, then rises, flaring brighter. Glowing. Solidifying. And when it finishes, there is an actual, honest-to-goodness UFO flying above Futaba. A UFO that she reaches up for, that immediately sends down robotic tentacles in reply, wrapping themselves around her as she all but climbs them up until she can scramble into Necronomicon's cockpit.

She takes a moment to settle herself in, poke at the displays a bit, just delight in being able to reconnect with this part of herself. And then, she speaks, and when she does, she's fully audible to anybody nearby as if the UFO were equipped with loudspeakers. Very high-quality loudspeakers. ]

All right! Oracle is back in action!

[ A. Opportunities ]

[ She is definitely taking this opportunity to poke around what Curti Center labs are open to the public. Which... pretty much have all been exclusively re-purposed for Custom Job development, which likely means anything classified would be tucked away somewhere else. But still. It's worth it to see what tech they've got here at least.

And. She supposes she can probably help out with some of the more technological aspects of ability extraction and recording and whatnot. If allowed because again. Reputation.

Alternatively, you can find her in the break room sprawled on a chair, half asleep, with at least one cat draped on her, which she's petting. Maaaaaybe she should have paced herself with beta-testing her abilities? It sounds like it's still gonna be a while before it'll be regularly usable anyway, and Persona use rebound can be pretty strong.. And she's out of practice. ]

[A. The Lab]

Bonnie had gotten the Catmancer asterisk on the trip to the Imperial Territories but she hadn't expected to need to use it so soon. The moogle originally came to help out with the different tests and also to offer what info and advice she can, but now there's further distractions keeping her busy.

The moogle stands on a table, not doing a great job of not being an obstruction herself, her little muscles primed as she stares down a cat that's sitting just as tall as she is. She looks all the more ridiculous with the cat ear headband she's wearing perched between her own fuzzy ears.

"Don't do it...don't do it kupo." The cat just looks at her, its paw touching the side of a researcher's mug of tea.

"Don't." Stare. "Don't." Shove. "Kupo!" Bonnie dives off the table, safely catching the mug on the way down but her momentum is likely to carry her into someone as she rolls out. But nary a drop of forgotten lukewarm tea is spilt!

[Job Development]

"Kupo! I'd like to do all I can to help, kupo!" Bonnie flutters around, trying to offer the researchers several sheets of paper she's jotted down on the custom and advanced jobs she remembers well enough from Crystallis, though it looks like one of the papers has had one of them torn off entirely (namely the notes on the Assassin Advanced Job). Successful or not she eventually flutters over to where the extractions are being performed.

"Kupo...um...I'm not sure what we'd get if we use this on me...kupo." Would it be a Moogle job? Something else? Would spacetime be given a wedgie by trying to extract more info about Crystallis into a Vaikuntha format? But she will do it if she's talked into it.

And of course, if she gets a chance and he's not too busy she plans to pay Ganeshan a visit and cheer him on, kupo~

[D. Dungeonmogs~]

"Kupo...Maybe I should have picked up that other one too." Just one job at a time, that's what she was thinking. But now down in this dungeon with her Catmancer and Ninja jobs on...well they're not a terrible combo for being light of step and avoiding traps but the moogle can't help but wonder how the Archaeologist asterisk would work in here.

But she's here to help with the explorations and investigations...and she really hopes that she gets a chance to ride in the minecart. "So which way do we go now, kupo?"

"Down I guess." Beastboy mused holding his bass guitar over his shoulder like a club. He looked hyped with excitement for his very first dungeon crawl and was fully expecting there to be some great fights down here.

Melody was less enthusiastic and more cautious as she held a lantern to light their path fluttering right behind Beastboy who took the lead down a path.

"Have you don't this sort of thing before Bonnie?"

A simulation could work, certainly, but what was wrong with a little actual demonstration to test the stability of ability extraction into crystal form? It made little sense to her, she was no wizard, but if it meant she could be herself again she was willing to give anything a try.

'Just do what you normally do', they said.

Vespertine sang in her hands, the guitar comprised of dragon parts and wood starting out with that rich, deep and acoustic sound. But the voice soon lifted and grumbled as it was filled with a familiar magic, tightening into an deep bass growl. Ahhh. Mmmm. That's the stuff.

What had she been playing up until now? Ballads? Serenades? Lofty lullabies? Well, screw it, how about some metal? Her heels planted, the tiefling's body language hunched and changed as she went immediately into riff after riff. This was something of a stress test, so maybe she should just push it as far as she could go and possibly get all messed up doing it! Why not!?

What followed were white mages looking concerned between one another, murmuring about likely going in and slowing her down to try and go easy as this was relatively new tech. But as the moments stretched onward, the simple furniture set up in the room began to vibrate. Then, they began to rattle backward and away. The air itself seemed to thicken and leaden, building and building...

Everything reached a crescendo. The tiefling's eyes faded into a pair of burning, smoking coals as her voice lifted in one long, solid scream. An immense burst of energy blew outward, throwing nearby chairs outward and tossing papers and trash here and there. It all lasted for five seconds. Then, silence. The guitar in her hands still gave the hum of a lingering, expectant note that rumbled into silence as the tiefling sank to her knees. Her hair, usually neatly arranged, was windswept.

She blinked as she looked out, eyes violet once more. Then, she giggled in delight, did a little wiggling dance from her spot on the floor.

"Ooh- ooh- I'm back, baby, I'm back, baby~"

The white mages massaged their temples, grateful the room hadn't exploded or goodness knows what else...

Have you ever seen someone do any mining? Strong, solid swings with loads of muscle behind it? Surely anyone has during their stint down here to harvest crystals for this new Asterisk project.

But has anyone seen a dainty woman with a pickaxe about as large as her stick her tongue out and swing with what little might she had to get those precious shinies from the stone? Can't fault her for trying, right?

"Hi-YAH! Gimme the goods!" The sheer momentum of her swing actually made her stumble forward, one pick embedding a bit into the stone wall and remaining stuck fast.

"...Oh! Oh! See, look! It went in this time! Why I'm- I'm halfway there!" She pointed at her handiwork, delighted. But when she paused and stared at the pick, her smile slowly faded.

She had to get the pick out of the wall.

[Sure, he's at the lab and ostensibly for a reason, but. But cats. He's got those two cuties that he adopted from the Empire back home, but that's no reason not to play with the ones in the lab.

He's part of the problem. He's not even sorry. He might not have cat toys on him, but he does have the scarf from his Dancer gear that he can use as one, so catch him dangling it over a scarf and laughing whenever one leaps at it.

"OK but tell me this isn't honestly the best idea i've ever had." Beastboy was grinning from ear to ear as he maneuvered his way through the lab with a stack of boxes.

"It is a very good idea BB. Even I can't sass you if it works."

With all the cats milling about the lab Beastboy saw an opportunity to keep them entertained so the others could get the nerdy science junk taken care of. It took a little bit of time to set them up but soon an entire corner of the lab was full of empty cardboard boxes with their tops open.

Sure enough cats began to wind their way over, hopping in one box, then another, occasionally sharing a box or fighting over one.

"This is...actually starting to work Beastboy! Good job!" Melody declared before looking around confused. Her partner had vanished.

"Beastboy? Beastboy where did you...oh..."

Inside one of the boxes the green teen was curled up already looking half asleep and mellow a dopey smirk on his features.

"No wonder these guys love boxes. This is totally chill dude."

A simulation room was frankly too good to pass up.

"Alright now we're talking! OK guys I am now taking requests! Favorite animal! Name it and then stand back so you can see what sort of a power house I used to be back home!"

Of course after showing off his shape shifting prowess he was more then happy to plug in some of his friends super powers to simulate what his team was made up of.

"Of course you had my shapeshifting specialty, but I wouldn't be the hero I am without Robin! A kick butt kung fu master! Or Starfire the Alien Princess with super strength and super starbolts! My main man Cyborg was the high tech master and of course Raven who...well she did all kinds of dark magic voodo stuff. I actually got to try her powers out for a day once. It was kind of...intense."

He shudders at the memory but then brightens up to show off in the simulation some more.

Beastboy was in his bard gear and ready to go, experimentally strumming his bass with the little claws he wore on his fingertips when he was a Catmancer to act as guitar picks.

"Easy there rockstar. We gotta party up with someone. I don't trust you down there on your own even if you are a little stronger then when you first got here."

"Fine fine. Eenie Meenie, Miney, YOU! Hey dude! Let's party up and tackle this dungeon together what do you say?"

Look out! A pointy eared green bard is jogging over to try and tag along with you in the dungeon. If you hurry you might be able to ditch him.

As usual, nothing if not practical as she looked at the computer monitor shuffling through outfits and accessories, structuring the design around the Summoner, but bringing in the abilities of Black Mage and White Mage with a touch of others. Determined by the individual's soul, but...

"Hmm..."

There's a lot to consider in order to make this workable. These were jobs that were also meant to be able to teach to others. Maybe she would just look into drawing out Yamato-Sumeragi like Futaba had done with her own and call it a day with this. There was still a matter of gather crystals for those who intended on actually making their Jobs right now.

Option B - Testing

So far, it was stable - or more, she appeared stable. Even then, her as shown through it visibly hovering beside her. Long curved mask with blonde hair flowing from beneath, uniform with red top and gold buttons, the attached cape that looked like wings, Naoto watched it draw it sword and they both looked at it.

"We don't have as much access to our abilities as we would back home... but it's a start. I'll be limited on my own weapon selection if I'm to wield you too..."

It's a conundrum this world's limitations, but there were ways to work around them. For now, she let Yamato-Sumeragi practice sword swings while she stood back and the White Mages monitored.

He didn't have much in the way of plans when it came to Custom Jobs. When he was told it would involve one's own powers from home and the restrictions, as well as Futaba and Naoto's plans to bring their Personae into the mix, he opted to stay his hand and instead help by using his strength to harvest crystals.

With a sizely haul brought back, he'd hoped that was enough... but just one more thing was left: Sword-fighters needed an opponent.

"A magitek pistol of some sort could get some hits in to open some punks up for a Yamato-Sumeragi takedown, won't? I mean, they were your specialty weapons and won't brush up against the whole 'not a Favored Weapon so you suck ass with it' rule." All the while, he initiated a job change to Paladin.

"Damn, I miss beating the shit outta somethin' with a chair or a shield." He grinned and brandished the greatsword.

"But enough of my bitching. Lemme help you work up a sweat!"

A. A Helping Hand
He isn't the best at helping to herd actual cats, but when he isn't testing out his own abilities, he can often be seen in a healer's robes; making rounds and checking to see if anyone is hurt or requires assistance. He keeps a bag of snack goods on him as well, so if he notices that someone's been there for a while, he offers a bag of chips or some other snack and a box of juice. "Here. You'll need your strength if you're gonna keep at it."

B. Return to Darkness
The moment he stepped into in the room, he all but sealed his fate for the rest of the day. The black-coated man stands in the center for a brief moment, before with a hum and slight gust the dark mists deposit a familiar weight in his right hand; a red and deep blue webbed wing-like sword, bright cyan and catlike eye ever gazing outward. "You may start at any time," they said, so he takes a moment; adjusts to a sense he hasn't had in months again. Takes in all the scents and sounds before the man takes one step back, then another before he drops into a stance. His knees bend only slightly at first, sword held up mere inches from his face as his left hand reaches out, palm held upward.

And then, like a snake, he strikes out.

One strike, he dashes forward for a second, blade singing through the air as he spins on his feet, jumping up and swinging the strange sword upward and vertically. Beams of bluish light shoot before him in three different directions. Yet they don't stop; he twists in midair; dark energy playing at the tips of his fingers as a flash of white hair slips out of the hood. Fingers curl as the dark clings to his arm, hand drawing back to his waist before he twists it outward and forward. The floor is singed before he even lands; he doesn't so much as fall as he does slowly descend.

"Alright, that should be enough for the day," the lab tech calls from the safety of the observation panel. The man takes a few more breaths before straightening, lowering the hood and heaving a sigh. Because feeling that familiar hum, being able smell those around him again. It's like going home again.

"What were the stability levels?" He asks, fighting to keep his voice even; still riding on the high of an energy that he'd been longing to make his own again for so long; for so long...

He doesn't notice right away if he draws an audience beyond the lab techs, but when he does, he dismisses the blade in the same black mist and moves to the entrance. If they look terrified, he'll give them a slightly concerned look. "You alright, there? You look pale."

Ever the salty healer, he guesses.

B. Because how can I not.

One of those lab techs is Xehanort, in an impeccable labcoat, busily at work with all the rest. He said he'd be keeping an eye out for the replica, and he has. As soon as Takeshi's name turns up on the documents, he makes sure he's there to be one of the assisting individuals. At first it's not really out of any personal keen interest in what the Job Takeshi's working on is, he just wants a word with him about this whole pending disaster thing afterward.

But he knows Darkness when he sees it even if he can't feel it anymore, and after that, he is paying much more attention.

And taking as many readings as he can, obedient to the work he's been assigned. That it advances his own sudden intense curiosity is a happy side effect. It's not the first time he'd studiously acquired data while some subject or other dealt with the Darkness and it wouldn't be the last.

"Once you're finished in there you can come take a look. I don't think we need to worry about your Job being too weak." That one's Xehanort this time, from the safety of Not In That Room where deadly things were being tossed about. "We'll need the standard rundown of how you're feeling, physically and emotionally, as soon as you feel up to it. Do you need a white mage?"

Onlookers may indeed have been frightened by such a display of menacing power. He's content to wait until that is sorted out - but only so long. There's always more data to be collected.

[It's a relief to have his Keyblade in his hand once again. While he's made what he believes to be a lot of progress in the past month as a Paladin, for some reason his sword just doesn't feel as right in his hand as his Keyblade does. The two skills aren't so different, but for the first time in the past month he feels the most like himself as he moves through a few attack patterns, thrusting his Keyblade in several directions and occasionally moving through a couple spins.

He might not be at full power, but the smoothness of his movements please him, despite being a little rusty and off-balance. Eventually, he has to stop and catch his breath, touching the tip of his Keyblade to the floor and leaning on it just slightly. He swipes his forearm across his forehead.]

Never thought after a month I'd feel this out of practice.

[And he hasn't even attempted any magic yet!]

[The idea of having a custom job that would allow him use of his Keyblade has given Riku enough excitement and determination to fulfill whatever task is asked of him. It only makes sense that since the creation of this new job is a benefit to them all that they be expected to help out however they can. But once he's inside the mine, inspecting every inch of the walls and flooring for crystals and picking bugs off himself, he begins to wonder if maybe too much was being asked of them.

Some of the crystals are lodged so tightly that even using his sword to leverage them out doesn't work frequently enough to be much help.]

Did anyone bring a shovel? Maybe we can use it to break some of the gravel up.

And he might be unarmed now - monk doesn't really do weapons - but he does have some knowledge of swords and using them. ]

B. Job Development
Noctis has been at it for a while. That much is obvious by the way the lines of fire and ash crawl from beneath the glove on his right hand and up the exposed arm to the thin lines of embers on his neck and cheek, yet as he pauses to take a breath, the lines fade; the skin rejuvenates from ash to freshly healed tissue. He takes one breath, then another, before he tosses the borrowed sword across the room; it sticks in the wall just above the ceiling and he dangles from it, feeling his mana rejuvenate from nothing. And just like that, the blade sings through the air again. Though if he notices someone other than the lab techs watching, he smirks as he does it and says one 'word': "Yeet-!"

...Before disappearing in a sea of white and blue sparks for a second time, leaving a holographic double where he'd been hanging around as he reappears by the first. What can he say? He's a memelord, and it'll be funny later. Though there is a marked difference: no burns this time. What could have caused them in the first place, or the regeneration?

The lab techs are stumped, and he'd rather not tell them at all.

A. The Lab
Unlike the lab technicians who've been having a difficult time herding the cats, there's one person who all he has to do is walk by and suddenly there's a cat or two following him.

They recognize one of their own the scent of fish in a small container held within his hand; cooked fish. For he, like them, is a picky eater with an itch to fish. He leads some of them into a quieter corner of the lab, away from all the loud blasts and clangs in the testing room, and sits down. He may or may not be completely surrounded by the felines, a few climbing on his lap and others pawing at his legs, wanting to get up but unable to.

Thank the gods for summoner robes, or else he'd have a Problem. He scratches the white kitten on his shoulder just under the chin as he lets her eat from his container. "Looks like we've made quite a few friends today, huh, Stella?"

"Stella" purrs contentedly, and he smiles, but it doesn't last. The moment he thinks no one is looking, the carefully guarded expression fades into something far more solemn. Even if it's hard with all these purr generators climbing onto him.

... It's been a couple hours. Help?

While most of the time Regis spends here is trying to keep as many cats as he can from interfering with work, his curiosity does get the better of him sometimes. He... is not up for the work itself, but he can observe. Perhaps he can advise, though he is far from certain about that.

... then his eyes fall on Noctis as he passes, and he freezes in place, the head of his cane digging into the skin of his palm; the scars on his face (and elsewhere) twinging sympathetically.

He will ignore the 'yeet' right now, eyes full of concern as he steps into that part of the lab.

"Noctis." Mildly. "How long has it been since you took a break?"

He knows that his son is unlikely to burn through as Nyx Ulric did. Yet...

A. A Wolf's Best Friend
As if Parasraya wasn't enough of a headache with the plethora of cats and the cosmic wolf wanting to adopt them all. He came to practice working with the custom job system. Not get roped into helping interns catherd... even if he has some experience with it, now.(At least they aren't hippos; he can control himself a little.) He doesn't really have any toys with him to use as lures, but one cat in particular really seems to like riding on his wolf's back. Who is now looking at him with that pleading glint in those big yellow eyes.

"Don't give me that look," he tells the canine, who whimpers. "No. You have plenty of friends back in Arito." He doesn't stop. Oh, god. Keith's going to cave at this rate.

B. One Paw in the Door
Option B-1:
Keith went over the papers and pamphlets carefully, studying them as he waits for his turn. While he knows what to expect, he has to pause at how the workers stop to look at him and the animal curled up at his feet with intrepidation. He tries to pay them no mind before he approaches once his name is called.

But the problem with having a giant wolf who is longer than you are tall by perhaps a few centimeters is that the lab techs seem very... apprehensive. About his presence and refusing to let him into the testing room. Keith kneels down beside him, and wraps an arm around the large, furry neck.

"He won't hurt you or disassemble any of the equipment; see?" He pets the wolf's head, and the wolf closes his eyes and leans into it; opening his eyes again when he stops. He sits beside Keith as the young man stands again. "He's my partner. Let him in with me."

Option B-2. A Light Warm Up
It takes a bit of convincing, but eventually the lab techs allow the two inside. The moment they do, it's like his senses are less dulled; more fine-tuned and back to normal. He feels lighter on his steps. Okay. Start with the basics.

He checks his suit's functions one by one. Comms, active; air recycling, active; jet pack, fully functional and not something to test in closed quarters; bayard?

He holds out his left hand over the weapon hanging form his hip, and it disappears then flashes back into his in a vibrant red glow. Perfect; Keith smirks, looking down to his wolf friend. "Alright, let's test this out. Other side of this room."

He rests his free hand on the beast's neck, and they zap out and back into existence; crossing the span of the entire room in the blink of an eye. The cosmic wolf stands up on all fours straighter, perking up at this as his tail swings from side to side. Keith summons his shield as the wolf teleports on its own; it's sparring time.

The wolf leaps and teleports again, meeting the shield as Keith holds it up, teleporting again as he dismisses it and dodges to the side as he lunges again. Their little game of wolf and lion continues for a good five minutes until the wolf knocks the bayard from Keith's hand and teleports one last time; right into him and tackling the paladin to the ground. He licks Keith's helmet, tail wagging happily. "Alright, you win this round." He reaches up and pats his head. "We'll see if you're that lucky when we both are at one hundred percent, boy."

Satisfied, the wolf trots to the side and nudges him with his wet nose; offering a paw up, so to speak. Keith takes it, though he concentrates before he fully stands. The bayard returns to his hand in another flash of red and that smirk crosses his lips again as he places it back on his belt. He stands, and pets his furry friend again. "We'll come back tomorrow so you can spread your legs out a bit more." Hopefully no one was waiting by the door; they might just get tackled and licked by a certain cosmic hound, too.

Another part of Shiro's crew, one she hadn't formally met yet. She watched the spar between the young man and his furry companion pretty closely, eye following each motion, making note of reflexes, purposeful actions, instincts and strategy...

By the time it was all done, she found herself pretty damn impressed. This guy could definitely go. So could the wolf. Despite that, her aura probably wouldn't come off as particularly welcoming to the wolf... Better to give her space, friend.

"Not bad. You're one of Shiro's kids, right?"

Somewhere in the whirling flurry of fist strikes and kicks, a euphoria starts to set in. This is how it should be. The target measuring her blows registers hit after hit after hit, none of them overwhelmingly strong, but a frighteningly high number that only keeps growing and growing. Castor punches it twice in the space of a heartbeat, kicks it in the space of one more. Here, she is a force of nature, and whatever magicks sustain this world whip around her in bright green-blue cords, urging her on and on.

She breaks away after a minute more, leaving the poor dummy alone and for all the effort, she hardly seems winded. Her face is brilliant with joy. “It works!” She cries happily. “‘S workin!”

She’s slowed down now; more deliberate strikes and careful movements. Unlike the unbridled joy of earlier, her face is pinched now, either in concentration or frustration, it’s hard to tell.

She looks back to the observation room after finishing a few moves. “‘S there a soul in there willin’ te help a lass out with somethin? Promise I ain’t like te hurt ye.”

If Castor had a home off of the battlefield, this was it. With a wicked looking pickaxe in hand and an equally wicked looking sledgehammer in her belt, she powers her way through the rock face, opening and following veins with practiced hands.

She’s not like to stop for any old thing, but she’s leaving a wealth of crystal in her wake, and doesn’t seem so focused that she can’t be spoken to. In fact, if you’re stuck, it might not be the worst idea to call her over...

Souji isn't lost. With his job, he can never get lost. Stuck? Not... really? The hallway he's in is rather narrow but it leads, well, down. He's been trying to map out the area for those that are orientationally challeneged unable to find their way through this maze of halls and ways.

Until a stone comes flying before his face, scaring the living daylights out of him and making him jump back, tripping on several rocks and falling.

"Ugh!"

A. The Lab.

It wasn't that Regis was likely to be very productive - or, right now, very willing to bring about the magic of Eos to Vaikuntha. It came with strings attached, and those strings had gutted him, completely, and he needed... at least, he needed rest. Perhaps he would try at a later time. Maybe.

For now, though, as those who had concerns about him were here, so was he. And while he wasn't doing much work, nor much moving around (though he did make rounds, sometimes, and if someone wished for his assistance or advice, he would provide them), he could still distract some of the distractions for those who were working.

So, most of the time? Regis was sitting on a comfortable surface, his cane leaning nearby, with three to four cats on his lap, one sprawled across his shoulders, and, more often than not? One attempting to groom his beard.

That would be six cats less to trip people, would it not?

This whole thing was... a mess. A good mess, a productive mess, but there was just so much going on. He felt his services would be better suited to helping people in the dungeons, but he also had a lot going on, too.

So Finn was checking in on the lab to see if they needed help. He didn't expect the cats... Perhaps placing them around Vaikuntha hadn't been a great idea after all. A lab was hardly a place for animals to hang out in.

Or for loiters, for that matter, which is what he was doing. Maybe he could help with the cat problem. After all, there was an older man looking like he was quite swamped. "Excuse me? I can take them if they're bothering you."

He quickly did the math, adding in the two at his feet, and wondered just how he was planning on doing that.

The Lab

Ivy is familiar and comfortable in a lab, a place she can just ignore the things around her a focus entirely on the task at hand. A place where she can discover and work. With the bonus of granting her access to all sort of learning and information about this new world that she'd not been privy to at the 'welcoming party' of sorts.

While it wasn't quite her field of expertise, she'd never really delved that deeply into geology, being so well versed with a lab setting seemed to translated pretty well regardless of specific fields. Besides, a glimpse into this area of scientific study should certainly help the passive job of 'Geomancer' she'd picked up.

As for the cats? Well, she wouldn't lie, they could be a little bit of a nuisance. But Ivy had worked before with Harley bursting in and out of the lab and practically doing somersaults down the aisles. She can handle a few felines underfoot. (The near constant risk of trip was rather irksome though.)

Luckily, the long legged black cat that dozed beside her designated work station seemed to be keeping the other cats at bay from that particular area of her work. With her low growls, lashing tail and sharp toothed hiss, Ivy found herself pleased she'd allowed Selina to tag along with them.

Althaea, bless her, was doing her best to help, but it had soon become apparent that unless given a clear instruction by Ivy, it would be better for her to simply work at shooing cats away, lest she be more detrimental than progressive to her partners work. Instead the Moggle spend most of her time beaming and staring starry eyes at Dr Isley's confidence as she moved around her setting.

"Snack break! Who's hungry dudes? Gotta get your brain's fueled!"

Cutting through the serenity of a humming lab full of purring and playful cats is Beastboy, trotting in with a box of pastries and a bright grin on his face. His Moogle was fluttering behind him with a plastic bag full of fruits.

When he made his way closer to Pam's work station however Selina had seen fit to repel him as well and he let out a yelp jumping back to stay out of the hissing cat's reach.

"Easy! Hey! I came barring gifts."

"Well I mean...none for the cats." Melody pointed out.

“No, no no… you’ve got to do it.. hey, come back here!” Sora huffed and settled his hands on his hips. He watched the grey cat saunter off as if the feline didn’t hear him whatsoever. Sora lowered his hands from his hips and wandered over toward the desk which had stacks and stacks of nonsensical paperwork. At least they didn’t make any sense to him.

He picked up the pink rock, it was small enough to enclose in his palm, but he fumbled with it between his fingers instead. Simba.. He thought for sure he could be of some use here with these cats—

well, maybe not in the way he had hoped. “Guess I can’t summon as a red mage.. hmm,” but it worked back home, he could use magic, weapons, and summons! He just wanted to give it a go. With recognition of defeat, for now, Sora pocketed his rock and stepped from the desk and back into the center of the room. His eyes scanned the room and counted about three less cats than he did before he focused on the grey cat.

“Alright,” Sora walked over to the closet and opened up the door. “So.. the printer is hungry, the cats are hungry, I’m hungry… we’re all a little hungry!” He snorted before he took a package of new paper to refill the printer.

The grey cat stepped over by him again and weaved between his legs, causing him to softly giggle. With a little help from the potions (thanks to the moogle who helped him out before) Sora was able to be around the abundance of cats without consequence. Well, that was unless they decided to beat him up.

Once the printer was fed, Sora focused on refilling the bowl of cat outside the door of the room. “Mew, mew, chew, chew, for you~you! Mew! Mew!” Sora gave the bag a gentle shake as he sang out to the cats. “Nom, noms, come get your nom noms!” Meanwhile, Nunumu was inside the room on the desk going through the papers and putting them in order. Apparently the moogle knew the pattern to the madness.

Sora could definitely use some help here. The idea of creating a job intrigued him and he tried his best for learning the mechanics of how to do so, but using the computer and coming up with how to implement what he wanted to accomplish on the screen was something entirely challenging. He understood he could describe some of his powers and skills from back home to this whole concept but coming up with the right words and explanations seemed to be getting in his way.

“I mean, I guess it depends on the enemy but … there’s not any heartless here so exactly how am I meant to come up with something that would work here that worked back in my worlds..” He was more talking to himself, or Nunumu, who was currently reading a magazine.

Sora used his forefingers to push the keys one by one, painfully slowly, as he tried another description for his powers at home. “I mean, Red Mage is the closest that describes what I did.. power wise, but what about combat wise?” He twisted his lips and brought the bottom one in to clench between his teeth.

After another few minutes his typing ceased and he read aloud what he wrote. “The power to restore hearts to their original state prior damage…?” Sora groaned, this was tough! “Bah!” Sora hit the delete key rather animatedly.

“Alright, how about this? The ability to change one’s form to better suit the fight? You know, like …” Oh, right, Nunumu wasn’t there. Sora rolled his eyes. “Like Halloween Town me, Atlantica me… yeah, yeah!” He liked this better. “Alright, lets try this.” Tap, tap, tap—

He wasn’t deemed strong enough to go too deep in the mine, but honestly he had to agree. Sora was still relatively new here and he hadn’t gotten himself a lot of exercise in the current jobs he has now so he’s not too skilled or powerful enough in them at the moment to really be convincing. He was, however, deemed worthy enough to be the watch out. So, here he was, near the mouth of the cave keeping an eye out for anything coming up for a small fray.

He was armed with his reaper and a red hat. He still adorned his red jumpsuit (though it’s a little tight) but still functioned as both something familiar and fashionably matched to his adorable new red hat. He felt like a proper red mage now.

Nunumu had a small hat of his own, perched on the right side of his large moogle head. It was tall with a wide white brim and red and white stripes up the top of it. Sora’s own hat looked like a cowboy’s hat, it was red with a white buckle just above the rim of it.

Tidus probably could have gone inside, but he's chosen to wait standby. If the groups really get into trouble, they might need some emergency backup---and he's got the skillset for that. For now, though, he's content to check his equipment, pausing to smile when he spots Sora and his moogle. They match so well...unlike him and Zunne, who refutes such silliness.

"Hey, Sora! So you're the backup too?"
