Event || Custom Fit

Who: All
When: September 10th to September 30th
Where: Curti Center and mines around the world
What: Characters assist Ganeshan in developing Custom Jobs.
Warnings/Notes: OOC Post

A. The Lab

As much as Ganeshan requires supplies to create Custom Jobs, he need help at home base. With the large number of potential applicants, outworlders and Curti Center employees are invited to help out in the lab, not only with testing transfer of Jobs to crystals, but in developing the abilities and running safety tests.

Easier said than done when all of these cats aren't roaming throughout the center and claiming everything to be their sitting spot. The interns are trying their best to catherd to little avail.

B. Job Development

The break room contains formal submission papers and pamphlets describing the steps required to develop a Custom Job. Senior employees are available to help characters workshop the abilities, but they mostly want to remain in the break rooms to avoid Ganeshan's constant Job mania. His booming voice is muffled through the doors, interspersed with allergic sneezing.

A room has been prepared for those to practice using their basic job abilities, primarily in making sure they're stable yet not too weak. There is a chance that an improper ability extraction can go wrong and hurt the user, so Ganeshan has group of White Mages are on standby in case things go south.

For those that would rather have all the fun without the work, there is the Ability Simulation and Modeling Room, where characters can design their abilities on the computer and see them play out on the screen before them. There's no limit here, and since Jessie is too busy to keep an eye on everyone, the outfits and visual effects have the potential to get...very, very silly.

C. Heigh-Ho

It's off to work you go. Those crystals won't mine themselves, and anyone strong enough must enter the mine in search of the necessary material. It's tedious, difficult work, and some of these are embedded so deeply in the rock that they might be more trouble than they're worth. Not to mention those gross bugs might not like their homes to be disturbed.

There's also the fact that monsters have a tendency to wander inside and attack, so they'll need some reliable body guards.

There should be more crystals deeper inside, but someone else will have to scout the area...

D. Explore the Dungeon

Which is where this team comes in. All the good stuff is deep in this mine, and reliable navigators are necessary to map out the tunnels without getting lost. There's also the fact that the previous owners of a time long ago didn't want opportunists to take their precious resources and outfitted the rooms with puzzles.

Door Locks are puzzles. Pressure plates activate traps. It's the ultimate test of critical thinking. Some of these don't make sense if you think for too long. Why did they go through all the trouble to program time-based puzzles with falling blocks and symbols? The Pupu are strange. At least the bats here are easy to fight, and the mine cart rides are fun.

Oh. She smells food. Like a dog with a biscuit put in front of its nose, Futaba jerks to full wakefulness, looking around until she spots the box of food. And she's... admittedly ravenous. She pulls it towards her and opens it to peer inside.

"... I was gonna get some soon." Although it probably would have had the nutritional value of cup ramen. If not... actually being cup ramen.

Point being she's absolutely a self-sufficient teen who can absolutely look after herself!! When she's not. Half asleep. Maybe. She's not actually all that great at this. That being said, Cor is... definitely unfamiliar. So there's a measure of veiled anxiety and less-veiled caution as she regards him over her food.

Trying to remember if she was here for the Gauntlet or not

"Of course you were." Even though Cor doesn't sound convinced. Still, he does give Futaba her space as she looks into the boxed lunch - an rather delicious looking seafood dish with what appears to be a citrus glaze/dip in a small cup on the side.

"Name's Cor, by the way." He had been part of the first round on the Gauntlet, only flubbing out spectacularly when it came to the Soul section. There's been a few memes about him making being intelligent look so cool since then...

She's been here since gamestart, actually!

"Huh..."

Dang, this was good stuff? Much nicer than she would've expected to just be... sitting around here for lunch. Were there chopsticks, or was she gonna have to finger food this? Hm. She picks up a small bit that's easy to grab with her fingers and pops it in her mouth, tucking it into her cheek so she can still talk without too much trouble.

"... Futaba. Weren't you in the Gauntlet?"

The way Mona had been. She doesn't let herself linger on that thought for too long.

Excellent!

There's chopsticks - the Center's been kind enough to provide disposable sets from the cafeteria. And the food is very good, if it's leaning towards the simpler side in terms of flavors. At least everything's been freshly made that morning, with freshly-caught fish.

Cor, meanwhile, makes a face at that remark. "Yeah...though I can't say that I'm as much of a nerd as some people mistook me to be back then. I just happen to know my enemies very well." most of the questions he had to ask, after all, were related to monsters. Thank the Six that the majority of monsters on this world was like those back on his homeworld.

"If you want to rant to someone about that, though, you're welcome to ask one of the Lucis Caelums," he adds with a tiny, proud smile.

Oh excellent. She's more than quick enough to separate them and turning to dig into her meal properly, wielding those chopsticks like an expert. Before she does, though.

"I mean, I kinda do the same thing and I am a nerd, so it's not like I'd give you grief or anything if you were," she says. As for the others he mentioned. "What, did they like... fail spectacularly on something dumb?" Or something like that? Honestly she'd only half-watched the Gauntlet outside of Morgana's stuff.
