Event || Custom Fit

Who: All
When: September 10th to September 30th
Where: Curti Center and mines around the world
What: Characters assist Ganeshan in developing Custom Jobs.
Warnings/Notes: OOC Post

A. The Lab

As much as Ganeshan requires supplies to create Custom Jobs, he need help at home base. With the large number of potential applicants, outworlders and Curti Center employees are invited to help out in the lab, not only with testing transfer of Jobs to crystals, but in developing the abilities and running safety tests.

Easier said than done when all of these cats aren't roaming throughout the center and claiming everything to be their sitting spot. The interns are trying their best to catherd to little avail.

B. Job Development

The break room contains formal submission papers and pamphlets describing the steps required to develop a Custom Job. Senior employees are available to help characters workshop the abilities, but they mostly want to remain in the break rooms to avoid Ganeshan's constant Job mania. His booming voice is muffled through the doors, interspersed with allergic sneezing.

A room has been prepared for those to practice using their basic job abilities, primarily in making sure they're stable yet not too weak. There is a chance that an improper ability extraction can go wrong and hurt the user, so Ganeshan has group of White Mages are on standby in case things go south.

For those that would rather have all the fun without the work, there is the Ability Simulation and Modeling Room, where characters can design their abilities on the computer and see them play out on the screen before them. There's no limit here, and since Jessie is too busy to keep an eye on everyone, the outfits and visual effects have the potential to get...very, very silly.

C. Heigh-Ho

It's off to work you go. Those crystals won't mine themselves, and anyone strong enough must enter the mine in search of the necessary material. It's tedious, difficult work, and some of these are embedded so deeply in the rock that they might be more trouble than they're worth. Not to mention those gross bugs might not like their homes to be disturbed.

There's also the fact that monsters have a tendency to wander inside and attack, so they'll need some reliable body guards.

There should be more crystals deeper inside, but someone else will have to scout the area...

D. Explore the Dungeon

Which is where this team comes in. All the good stuff is deep in this mine, and reliable navigators are necessary to map out the tunnels without getting lost. There's also the fact that the previous owners of a time long ago didn't want opportunists to take their precious resources and outfitted the rooms with puzzles.

Door Locks are puzzles. Pressure plates activate traps. It's the ultimate test of critical thinking. Some of these don't make sense if you think for too long. Why did they go through all the trouble to program time-based puzzles with falling blocks and symbols? The Pupu are strange. At least the bats here are easy to fight, and the mine cart rides are fun.

"Doctors make the worst patients, and tend to be terrible at diagnosing their own problems," is the mild response over the intercom. "A second opinion would be nice."

But he probably won't get it. Instead final notes for this particular session are made so they can be analyzed by more skilled hands than his. He'd need more time working on these to truly be anything more than an information gatherer.

Well. Maybe he'd have that time, if they're all stuck in this world for any significant period. The replica is given a glance over as he approaches, but the wounds he expects aren't physical anyway. "No changes at all? Darkness tends to influence more unwelcome emotions, from our research back home."

That's going to be an important thing to find out. Wasn't part of the purpose of these Jobs to also share that power with others? Anyone interested in learning this one, would have to deal with that side effect too, presuming Takeshi wasn't being entirely honest. "Unless that's your baseline to begin with, but I didn't think to ask that beforehand."

"That they do," he replies, but knows himself to know when his limits are being tested. He frowns at the implication that he might not, but says nothing on it. Instead his mind is focused on another task; a different type of information gathering. He caught that comment of back home, and while there is no suspicion in his tone or gaze, he is just as guarded.

'I'm always angry.'
We have more in common than I thought.

He pushes the thought far from his mind before answering, "None." If anything, he feels lighter than he has in weeks. Funny thing about being made of darkness and data. "It's the fear of the dark and the associated emotions that cause problems in the first place."

He'd seen it far too easily, in Riku. Yet he doesn't shame him this time like he had all those years ago; only giving enough information for the other to pass along to more experienced techs.

SCIENCE!!! ..must be held back for now aaa

Perhaps out of sheer mulishness, should Takeshi bother to look at his notes, Xehanort's added a suggestion that the replica get a quick examination anyway. In spite of being a healer himself.

If he feels he said anything suspicious, there's no sign of it. For now, he's as unguarded about that subject as he gets; the Darkness isn't something he felt was to be feared either. "Is that so?" There's a pause mid-notes, pale eyebrows rising. "You likely have more experience with it than I, I'm afraid my knowledge is limited to only a year or so of lab work and emotional disruption had always been an issue."

And a little private experimentation to go with that lab work. It hadn't felt bad to him to use it, ever. "In which case, if fear alone is the problem, should this prove viable and you choose to teach it to someone else, I'm going to add a strong suggestion that proper warnings and instruction happen ahead of time. I don't suppose you'd be inclined to add those in yourself for documentation purposes?"

Xehanort isn't treating any of it as if it's particularly strange, taboo or dangerous. Just ... interesting.

There there, Xehanort; there's plenty of time to SCIENCE!!! later

Of course he looks at the notes, and he does his best not to roll his eyes. Really? Ugh, no one ever takes him at his word.

"Yeah. Fear gives it control, which will corrupt if left unchecked." Sometimes it corrupted individuals, anyway. Yet he has yet to face anything that could cause problems. For one who plays with fire will inevitably get burned if they don't respect it's power, but respect does not equal fear. Such a common misconception. It's almost a breath of fresh air that that particular part isn't questioned.

"And I will. If I ever do decide to teach someone." Will he, though? Most likely not. It's such a shame that most would be consumed by it...

science could be /now/ though...

".. Hm, simply for detail's sake though.." He's going to add a little of that in RIGHT NOW in the notes section simply so it's written down. Whether or not the replica ever chooses to try to teach it to anyone else, it's good information to have! Thoroughness is extremely important in all research endeavors.

And Xehanort is good at thorough. "I will alert anyone else who notices someone working on a Job that utilizes darkness and add similar notes there, I seriously doubt it functions differently simply because there are many worlds." He was going to have to study it all extensively later, but for now... "A little lab safety never hurts."

But for now he's .. relatively satisfied with the data gathered. Other people would put it to more use than he, but it felt nice to be useful and doing work he was more familiar with again. "I don't suppose you have a little spare time to discuss the, hm, previous topic mentioned on the moogle slates?"

What with this whole time loop nonsense, and all.

Takeshi watches him with a thinly veiled interest. True, it is good information to have, yet he still has little idea how much this guy knows of it and internally he's always gonna be wary.

He did catch someone's scent while in there, after all.

"Only one way to find out." Well, two technically. Observe and prod it. He simply knows better than to poke certain bears. He hums quietly in agreement, before turning his gaze from the notes to the other. "Sure."

Might as well get the real reason for this talk out of the way.

YOU KNOW, WEEKS LATE.

"...The idea that events are repeating is an alarming one." Although his tone is quiet, he's not exactly overly concerned with not being overheard or he wouldn't be asking in public. "You were .. there for the previous .. what. Cycle?"

How to even put that? It's not reincarnation, they're not dead. "I would like to know, as well as many others I imagine, exactly what things are the same.. and perhaps annoyingly detailed information about what transpired before to be better prepared if events are going pretty much the way they did before."

Xehanort is willing to put considerable faith in the idea that Takeshi isn't going to be keen on being on a world when it ends, therefore! Work on preventing it. This would further all of their survival, and while he was a bit curious as to what might happen if they failed, being there for the events and dying because of it would be seriously inconvenient.

"If it can't be discussed over moogle-net, maybe it can be here?"
