Plot || The Star Wars Vaikuntha Special
Who: Open
When: June 8-14
Where: Everywhere
What: The race for the crystals is on!!
Warnings/Notes: OOC Post
Crystals have fallen out of the Dream Width in a beautiful meteor shower and scattered all over the world! Due to their origins and mysterious properties, the Curti Center is interested in gathering as many as they can for researching purposes. To incentivize the public in helping out, O'aka has donated a few silver coupons to those top few who collect the most crystals. There's also a rumor that the one person (or more if there's a tie) who collects the most, wins something marvelous and mysterious~
The hunt for these crystals have taken storm across Vaikuntha and they're suddenly worth a lot. It's all anyone talks about anymore! The locals have gone crazy with it! If you weren't interested to begin with, surely the madness that is this new fad has sunk its teeth in. Besides, who knows what the crystals can actually do? Are they gifts? Curses? Dust collectors? Only one way to find out.

Snow Crystal - Hope's Peak
Fort Armstrong has created an obstacle course for anyone to try their luck and win a crystal! If you decide to travel to Hope's Peak and take part in the challenge, you'll arrive to a live audience that's only this pumped at Blitzball games. They're all seated around a massive set that certainly gives off that obstacle course vibe.
A soldier of the fort will lead you to the starting podium, explain that you'll have two minutes to reach the end and press the button once the starting buzzer sounds, then provides a thumbs up before running off.
Your time to shine, Hero! Are you ready?
[ooc: "One stat from a character's Passive Job will boost their Active Job stat. If two jobs have an S rank in the same stat, that stat automatically becomes an SS rank. For combinations that do not have SS rank combinations, the player can choose which stat is boosted. Noteworthy abilities include Glide and Reflect. The former would allow him some leeway over traps low to the ground, and certainly let him attack some obstacles from unorthodox angles. He can also instantly switch to Black Mage or Illusionist, which combined with Spellshape may allow for interesting tricks such as ice platforms across water stages, etc. Assuming, of course, that he's allowed.

Shadow Crystal - Rosey Industrial Site
If you've come searching for a crystal, too bad, you're stuck. You have no idea how you got to where you are and no idea how to get out. It's a maze! Might as well start walking.
Looks like you can either go left, right, or straight ahead. Which direction will you take, Hero? Choose wisely.
no subject
'Aw, it'll be fine! How bad could a bunch of factories be?'
Uendo ignores the argument inside his head and tries to recall which direction he came from. He never realized just how big this place is... How does anyone get any work done around here?
Well then... Let's try going left.

Flame Crystal - Nakagawa?
Guys, some of those things from the sky landed behind my house. I'll try to figure out what they are, but that's not important right now.
Look, BB-8 and Valli took one look at them and they went a little crazy. I never saw them get along that well before. I think they're out looking for more of these things? I don't know I'm worried. They aren't answering my calls.
I'm going to stay home in case they come back. If any of you guys see them, can you bring them home? I know they can handle themselves but Vaikuntha's been crazy lately, you know? I'm smothering them. I know I am. Just let me know if you see them?
Sorry, everyone. Thanks. Good luck out there.
[ooc: BB-8 and Valli will appear randomly in the other threads of this post. (You have a 10% chance of finding them every time you start a new thread, the exception being in Nah Nami Reserve.) If your character manages to find them and capture them, reply here to get your reward! ]
Flower Crystal - Nah Nami Reserve
"Hello, Vaikuntha!" says one. "We here at the Nah Nami Reserve have discovered a few of those mysterious crystals scattered over the lands. In the interest of getting in on the fun that's sprung up around the big race, we decided to make a good cause out of it."
The other nods as you get the sinking suspicion that this is an advertisement for something. "That's right! We're holding our first ever Charity Drive! All proceeds will go to the preservation of all the creatures here at the Nah Nami Reserve as well as renovations for a new educational center!"
"But that's not all!" the first one cuts in. "Don't forget about those crystals we mentioned! Anyone who donates anything worth more than 50 gil will have their name put into a raffle for the six crystals we have. That's right. There's only six! So get them while they're hot, Vaikuntha!"
The other gives a fake laugh, and they both wave at the camera. "Good luck!" At least it's for a good cause.
[ooc: Please comment below what you're donating to the reserve. It can be gil, labor, services, items, etc. Only comment if the donation is enough to enter the raffle. Thanks! ]

Rain Crystal - Ka'Pandol
If you bother to get around and ask the natives here about the crystals, you’ll mostly hear ‘you’re the fifth one today to ask me that today’ and ‘damn tourists’ and ‘don’t you see we have bigger problems right now!’ Sure enough, if you haven’t noticed by this point, there seems to be a flooding issue going on in the city. The pumps are doing their jobs, thankfully. It’s not them that’s the problem.
It’s the dome itself, it seems. Upon looking up, you’ll see small rivulets of water pouring down in various places, but maintenance crews seem to have the situation covered. Now, you have to decide what to do with yourself.

She decides to head to the museum to check that place out first; it's a big building, after all, and there must be plenty of spots where crystals could be hiding. And if nothing else, at least she'll get to spend an enjoyable afternoon at the museum.

Sun Crystal - Neg'gi Desert
Upon approaching the great tent closest to the water's edge, you'll be let through by two guards once you state your business. Inside, you'll find beautiful rugs and pillows, jeweled pitchers of water and dishes piled high with ripe fruit.
At the end of the tent in three high chairs sit the brothers. The one to the right wears black and navy robes, a warlock's pointed hat on top of his head, and a disgusted expression on his face. The one on the left is dressed in olive green and khaki garments, lounging across the chair and reading a book, completely ignoring you. The one in the center has a serious expression, his gleaming blood red armor looking just as dire as his stare.
"We'll part with a single crystal for one million gil," the middle one says, "or two other crystals of different kinds. No less. Don't mistake us for hagglers, either. You have nothing we want, Hero of Light. If you cannot meet our price, find your pretty tokens elsewhere."
He's true to his word and will throw out anyone who tries to haggle. Come back with the price and you'll receive one crystal, Hero.
Or... come back in the night (with friends, if you wish) and try to take the crystals for yourself. Decide.

Love Crystal - Sakura Forest
It's such a nice time of year for it, too. If you're not in any rush, Heroes, take a moment to enjoy what you have.
[ooc: Go ahead and thread out some fluffy things with other characters. When you reach the end of a wholesome, pure, lovely, good thread, ping me and I'll zip by with a crystal for all involved! You can PM this journal or hit me on discord at jb@9174. I'll leave you to it! ]
A picnic in the woods
Hey everyone, I'll be setting up for a day or so near the outskirts of the Sakura Forest in case anyone wants to search for Crystals there; I know the forest gets kind of dangerous the further in you go so we should probably go looking in pairs or so. I hope I see you out there!
If you decided to take Corrin up on her offer, you'll find her relatively quickly; a small beaten path leads to a clearing where you find the small campsite Corrin has set up for the day...along with what appears to be a picnic she's laid out of food in case anyone does decide to show up.
Corrin herself is resting on the blanket she's laid out for the picnic with a book in her hand to pass the time, but at your approach she looks up, carefully inserting a bookmark and placing the volume by her side. "Oh, hello! I'm so glad you could make it." She says with a grin, before motioning to the picnic in front of her. "Join me for a bit? There's plenty of time to go searching and we shouldn't do it on an empty stomach, right?"

Arrow Crystal - Cactuar Island
The Arrow Crystals are in a big pile, all of the Cactuars marching around them. You can't get close, though, as they push you away if you so much as try it. If you keep trying, though, they'll realize what you're after and label you a threat!
But they won't attack. This is a special place, and they won't risk their precious crystals getting damaged in the crossfire. After much squeaky deliberation amongst themselves, one of them hops forward while the rest form a gigantic circle around the two of you. It looks like a duel is about to begin? But the Cactuar still doesn't attack. Instead-...
Instead, he swishes his arms back and forth, turns around and does it again, then hops on top of his head and spins around four times like a top! The other Cactuars let out a low 'oooooh' hum. He hops again to land on his feet, does a twist, drops to one knee, and points at you with one blunt arm. The Cactuars all hop around and jeer.
Prepare yourself, Hero. You've just been challenged to a dance-off.

As the only guy apparently on staff today, the announcers directs you to stop in the middle of the room before scurrying off to greet the next guest.
The Queen waves her hand at you. "Well met, Hero. Well? What do you have for us today?"

They're dancing.
"Oh, hey!" a voice speaks up jovially from the corner, hopefully not scaring you too badly. Looks like there's a charming older man sitting at a window seat, frogs leaping around him and a lute in his hands. "There's aren't ordinary frogs, ya know. They're those touch me things! A bunch of my buddies touched 'em, actually, now look what happened. But it's okay! They still know how to have a good time!"
With that, he strums the lute and starts belting out a fine tune. "Send me a kiss by wire. Baby, my hearts on fire! If you refuse me, honey, you'll lose me-" And just as he said, the frogs starting really getting in on it, throwing up their legs in a far too choreographed manner.
Still strumming the lute, he looks at you again. "Want to join in? If you know how to cure them, I might know a way to help you cure the right ones." Keeping his smile, his voice goes a little strained. "Please help. It's been hours."

Egg Crystal - Ruins of Genesis
But there are crystals to find, so here you are!
Eventually, you come upon a destroyed cathedral, meaning there's a large open space with the barest hint of once proud walls all around the perimeter. In the center, there's something resembling a crater... No, that's a nest! There are dried grass and soft ferns lining the interior and poking out of the sides. You can also see the glimpses of shimmering crystals within the nest.
Everything is silent. No noise, not even birds overhead. The nest looks like it's well tended to, so the mother can't be very far.
Now what?
[ooc: If you're going in a group, please list everyone in the first comment so that I don't skip anyone! Also, please assume that there are enough crystals in the nest for everyone.]
no subject
Even before picking up Catmancer, she'd been light on her feet. And this place inspired her to make a point of it. The wreckage of a cathedral and the crater within was certainly not a comforting sight, but so few things were.
Further poking around revealed the crater to be a nest. A ... massive nest. With something shiny nestled right in the center. Which meant that was where she needed to be.
So she crept further in, carefully listening for anything that might indicate she was no longer alone. When she'd drawn close enough, she aimed a Cat Burglar at the convenient pile of crystals. Sure, she probably could've just reached out to take one, but where would the fun be in that?

You didn't expect this. Geezards are all over the place! They're hoping across desks, sending paperwork flying, knocking over printers, making Moogles run screaming. Even worse, there aren't any crystals like they advertised!
A Moogle floats over to you in a rush. "Oh, please, kupo! Help! HELP!" He pulls on your sleeve, pointing at the chaos like you just haven't noticed yet or something. "They even took all the crystals, kupopo! Help us!"
Welp.
[ooc: Just pick some targets and start attacking. There are an absolute butt load of enemies here, and every 1 out of 50 has a crystal. Based on your attacks, I'll calculate how many you've destroyed and what loot you got, if any. Feel free to farm this area.]

Rainbow Crystal - Cloud City
"Wwwwweeeeeeelcome! One and all! To the Cloud City Rainbow Races!" He pauses to let the crowd cheer in the background. "We hope you've tuned in to that last race we had, folks. Woo! What a doozy! Who knew one of Vaikuntha's most notorious gangs, the Tusken Raiders, would have signed up in such large numbers! Probably has to do with that Sky Pirate gig, ey? I kid, I kid. There are still several Rainbow Crystals unclaimed, still several races to compete, and we've saved the best for last, folks. The next three races will include Vaikuntha's very own HEROES! OF! LIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!" Another pause. More cheering.
"Before we get started, we wanted to give a shout out to our sponsor, the new highly anticipated game ready to take Vaikuntha by storm, Melodies! of! LOVE!" More cheering.
"Now, let's meet our contestants!!"
Crimson Race - Frisk, Castor, Ringabel, Undyne
"Aaaaaaaand representing the TUSken RAIders are Cardinal and Roooooose!!" The crowd loses their minds a little less this time. Looks like they aren't huge fans of the Tusken Raiders but are at least cool enough to get some fans.
"And the racers are at the starting mark," the announcer says in a suddenly quiet voice. Contestants have lined up in their vehicle of choice, pod racers and the like. There are four lights hovering over the track, only the first one lit up. Red. Then the second, red. Then orange. Then-
As soon as the green light comes on, a loud buzzer sounds and the gates open.
"AND THEY'RE OFF!!!"

Plasma Crystal - Rodent Island
While your limbs may be trembling in fright, Hero, you've braved your way to this place to answer the questions. They're really strict about the "one at a time" rule, though. Anyone who tries to get off the boat with someone else will get a lot of... grumblings from the hamsters scattered about. Guard duty? Who knows. You don't want to find out.
So, going alone, you're led by a dangerously rolling hamster to a beach where you find a single scholarly hamster watching the waves. He turns to you, tiny glasses glinting in the sunlight. "Welcome to Rodent Island, Hero. I dare say, you're one of few who have stepped foot on these shores with welcome arms.
"Now," he sighs, turning to face you as the dangerously rolling hamster stands to the side, "We might as well get this show on the road, as they say. Before we begin, do you have any questions for me? Please do keep them on topic. I have a schedule to keep today, you understand."
