Where: Ka'Pandol, the underwater city
What: While the outworlders and their guides are touring the new arena at Ka'Pandol, the city begins to flood. It is up to them to activate the ancient drainage system beneath the city before the Blitzball Association is forced to cancel the upcoming tournament.



The Zora guide, Pharce, is leading the group from the Curti Center through the center of town, waxing poetical about the legend of the First Zora, when the sirens begin to wail. At first, the residents of Ka'Pandol wave it off as a drill, but the sirens do not stop, and as they walk, the visitor shoes are beginning to get soaked through with sea water that is slowly rising.

"Come along, quickly, all of you!" the guide calls, leading the group to the Bureau of Tourism near the city center. As they walk, the group will see the aquatic residents quickly deploying bubble helmets around their 'exotic' pets -dogs, cats, parrots, squirrels- heads, just in case City Management takes their time righting whatever issue the dome is having.

"Inside, please. Safety first is our motto, so let's get you outfitted," Pharce says, waiving them inside. Each person is given one of the patented Ka'Pandol Bubble Helm, which will allow them to breath comfortably for several hours. Those that cannot swim are issued an emergency life vest as well.

The water had reached knee-level now. An emergency evacuation message broadcasts from loudspeakers.

"Well, yes, you could...but where's the fun in that?"

Pharce waves at the Hypello gift shop owner, and the two bow their heads in discussion for a moment. When they part, Pharce pats the Hypello (whose nametag declares him 'Shtan') on the back.

"My good friend will lend us some of his wares, if you will join me in saving the city. We wouldn't want this little mishap to delay the big game, after all."

Those that agree to hold off on fleeing the city will be split into groups and given instructions on where to go in order to help the sinking city of Ka'Pandol.

Finn runs ahead, trying to stop them from attacking but only trusting about a quarter of these people to not turn on him, if that. He puts himself between some of them and Ultros anyway. ]

[ SORRY FINN. Futaba is definitely female-shaped and therefore definitely on the list of people that Ultros is leering at. And she didn't take any of that shit from her teammates (not that any of them really tried but still) so she's not taking it from creepy octopi either.

You know those times where it just feels like luck is on your side? This is one of them, and so she Draws and lo and behold, it's a Balance. So that's going on her teammate without delay. ]

[For a moment, Noctis is staring at his father with all the intensity and abject horror of someone who caught their parent making out with someone. Except in this case, it's,]

[What? Regis gave him permission to swear in front of him when the situation truly called for it, and Noctis is fairly certain summoning impostor gods is one of those times. After that initial reaction was over, however, he moves to straighten when he hears that voice in his head again. His free hand reaches up to his temple before he shakes it. Clearing his head of the last echoes of Her voice in his head, he looks to Shiro and everyone else. He can't believe he's agreeing to do this, but...]

True, we don't. But that doesn't make this bastard any less creepy.

[And he really, really doesn't like creepy dudes. He really wants to zap him into next Tuesday.]

Those who can fight, with us. Melee and those with defensive skills to the fore, mages to the rear. Ravus. [He turns to the man.] With me.

[He wants to keep an eye on this one in particular. While he's sure the others can handle themselves, he's not so sure with the last of the Oracle line. He casts Thundara on Ultros without another word of warning.]

[Castor's had a long goddamned day, and she's still hopped up on fear and adrenaline...and realizing it was probably a good thing that she didn't unload against the Eidolon because...

She tears off again, almost as soon as Noctis begins to speak. Her earlier Whirlwind grants her a boost of speed, allowing her to Tackle into the beasts' face, and immediately follow it up with Fire Chakra...prefferably right into one of Ultros' big ugly eyes.]

Now is not the day te fuck around, ye hear me?

[ It took Hunk quite a few moments to grasp what had happened. He bit a Goddess. Accidentally. And his mouth is filled with pointy scales, which are easy enough to wad up like a ball of half-chewed food. And once the waves abate, once that octopus happens, he's able to toss the scales into one of his pockets. Seems rude to throw out something from a Goddess, right?

But then Shiro calls out for Hunk's support, and Finn wants to find out what's going on. Hunk? He takes one look at Ultros, remembers what he knows about Eidolons, and thinks back to a conversation he had with someone from another world. And the way it's looking at people? ]

No way, there's nothing to figure out! [ His gaze snaps to Finn as he shakes off the whole "being thrown by a tidal wave" thing. He's seen alternate worlds, and he knows things like chocobos are common enough that this thing might be the same way. ] In another world, this thing was a nasty monster. It killed people. It's going down!

[ Team Voltron beat a god once, technically. That's what he tells himself as he runs into the fray, Combat Fork in hand. He'll try as hard as he can to stay near Shiro and to keep himself as a barrier from the frailer members of the group. But what he's trying to do is Chop off some of those teeth with his Fork before returning to the front lines. ]

What the actual fuck?! [Oops, so much for decorum around royalty.

Gladio shakes his head and brings his full attention to this new ... Eidolon. It's weird, it's wriggling, and it needs to die.]

Iggy, let's go! [Gladio leaps full force at the ugliest octopus he's ever seen, bringing his sword down in a mighty Shock Break onto one of its tentacles.]

This is...gross. What the hell, man?

[The last part is said at Regis, of course.

This. Isn't what he wanted to happen. He feels like this is sort of his fault? He shoots a glance at Monika and Regis, but, you know what? He's not taking the fall for this one. How was he supposed to know that Ifrit...er, Ultros would happen quite like this.

Somewhere in the midst of all of this, though...

'In another world, this thing was a nasty monster. It killed people. It's going down!'

Those words echo in Dylas' ears before he does what his fellow snake told him to do. He pulls out his bell and casts Earth Grave on Ultros, aiming to hit his head.]

Frisk + Papyrus Combo Move!

"Alright, everybody, form a line, let's go! Potions, potions coming up! Get your buffs here!" Frisk hollers from next to Papyrus, making use of their ludicrous speed to rapidly retrieve and distribute potions they are handed by Papyrus as the rest of the group charges to meet Ultros in battle. Even if they wanted to try duking it out with a lecherous octopus god, they certainly weren't equipped for it. So it was probably better for both them and Papyrus to hand out buffs from Papyrus' large, large inventory (thank goodness for relentless experimentation) anyways. Anybody not taking to the front lines Frisk delivers the appropriate potions to speedily before returning to grab another load from the skeleton.

While assisting Frisk in handing out potions, there's a hint of apprehension in Papyrus' movements. Something about this just feels off. Sure, the octopus is a bit... creepy, yes. Definitely overstepping a few boundaries, but something about this just feels. Awkward. Did it really kill people? And even if it did kill in another world, does that matter here?

"FOR THE RECORD, I STILL FEEL LIKE THIS COULD ALL BE ONE BIG MISUNDERSTANDING. THAT BEING SAID, I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, AM READY TO HELP IN WHATEVER WAY I CAN!"

( the card's effect seems to outright sparkle around him as he turns in seeming-slow motion towards ultros. those luscious frizzy locks, the twinkling gleam in his grey eyes— they're all highlighted by the shimmering buff. a true honey, indeed.

but all that seems to fade in a flash, one that has him readying his attack against the creepy calamari. he'll take a moment to down a hi-potion of intelligence with a nod of appreciation towards the skele-tist and its friend. the water may have thwarted him before, but this time for sure it would work! )

Hah—! ( he cries, sending out a powerfully enhanced fire ninjutsu aiming to light it beneath ultros. )

[ Well. Things are happening... very much, aren't they. Regis stares for a long moment at Ultros, because that doesn't seem right on so many levels--

But then Leviathan's reaction makes him pause and take a step back. He's still weakened from the summon, but his mind is racing. Why is Ultros the summon in the first place? What happened?

He takes a deep breath, in the midst of everyone's attacks (he was considering trying to un-summon Ultros, if such a thing is possible, but that might not be necessary, the way people are going) and turns towards Leviathan. ]

What happened? It's not like defeating him like this would do much but make him disappear, only to be summoned again. Leviathan, please answer this! Why is your wrath up on him? How can we truly make a difference?

[ Seriously. ]

[Azusa whips out her cards again. She's still exhausted after everything, especially her dance, but she needs to say something and make it very clear.]

Please don't call me 'honey.' That term is reserved for my destined someone.

[She giggles somewhat darkly as she casts Major Arcana on the person who looks like they're going to attack after her...aha. She spots Cor and remembers the help he'd given her. He is NOT her special someone, but he will receive a boost from the arrow, allowing him to attack twice.]

My, my. It's so disgusting when he says it, isn't it~?

[Cor had given Regis a rather perplexed look the moment that...thing appeared. He truly hoped that his friend had not intended to summon that particular being to help prove his worth to Leviathan. But this...octopus made his true nature know almost immediately, and it only made Cor more resolved to actually heed the giant serpent's request.

It helps that he also has Noct's orders that coincide with that, too.

But Azusa's boost certainly is timely, and he gives a nod of thanks in her direction.]

Don't worry - we'll teach him to not mistreat anyone like that.

[And with that, he rushes forward with the other melee fighters, slashing with his katana with two quick attacks - one more than he previously planned on in such a short time frame. His goal was quite simple - take out one of his tentacles before he gets a chance to reach any mages or other support folks.]

[He had little patience when Teddie was kind of weird to his friends, but he was a stupid bear whose head was too full of crap and being around Yosuke too much. But when a giant squid monster was making those kinds of eyes at his friends like that 'cause they were chicks? Gross.

[Which meant she got to enjoy watching this thing get torn apart so she can go home and remove her wet socks. With a big smile on her face, she began a new riff, and cranked up with a Boss Theme for the lot.

If she could only use any of her abilities from home... but no, a day in the future may come where she can use her voice to completely tenderize this... creature... into something more useful.]

Hmph, trying to pass yourself off as a Eidolon... and thinking I'll allow you to get away with that sort of behavior?

[She might have Summoner primary right now, but the staff she was holding? It was being affected by her Gunslinger's Modifier skill as she took it in both hands to aim, the top opening as several rounds locked and loaded.]

[It certainly was a good weapon as Passive became Active and she decided to become a little Trigger Happy, unleashing every new shell she had onto Ultros.]

He can see why Leviathan is mad. Getting replaced by that would hurt anyone's pride.]

[Uendo calls forth a Partial Summoning of the wise old man. How about that Thunderstrom?]

[That being said, Selphie felt Frisk's potions taking effect before she dashed forward with the intent to attack. Granted, her staff probably wasn't going to do a lot of good compared to magic users as she waited for the magic attacks to finish. Still, she had to do something to take this creepy octopus out.

While Selphie isn't one of Ultros' reviled muscleheads, she does deliver a swift and powerful Vaulting Strike before pulling back.]

Go back and play with the fish already!

Better yet, let's leave him in pieces for the fishes...

[Adrien's not a summoner, but he could only imagine what it was like for them to be deceived - for them to summon this guy only for him to kill and basically turn on those unfortunately calling for aid. And Leviathan looking just as angered as the rest of them - enough reason to get rid of the false idol.]

[There's a Flurry succession of strikes from Adrien, doing a little more than tenderizing the giant octopus. In fact, whoever followed up might find Ultros a little more vulnerable to their assault with his defense down.]

Marinette was, quite honestly, still trying to process. Things were happening very quickly and it was taking a little while for her head to catch up.

It was only around the point when Ultros showed up and proceeded to leer at the females that she seemed to check back in. And honestly? She'd had just about enough of this. Things had gone weird in a very serious way, and she was no longer in the mood to stop and ask questions.

"Sorry, poulpe," she called out, even as the others launched their own attacks. "I think we'd actually prefer the muscle heads over your sparkling personality any day!" To drive home her point - and yes, as retaliation for that off-color remark, and the creep factor in general, she let loose with a weak Foudre. It probably wasn't as bad as it could've been, but it would be something at least. Mostly, though, she's sticking to the back of the line.

Terra had absolutely no idea what was going on. One moment they were preparing to fight, or at least show their strength to, this mysterious being called Leviathan; the next, there was this...other creature? Which they were going to fight for Leviathan?

It seemed way more complicated than he was prepared for, and he was hesitant at first...but then Ultros opened his extremely big mouth, and Terra promptly became more than okay with putting a fist in it. That was no way to talk to - well, anyone, really!

He ran forward, the Rampart he had cast still glittering over those who had been in his trial, and hit Ultros from the side with a Shock Break aimed at a tentacle.

I see... ( now this was all very bordering on crude, wasn't it? rutile is at the ready with their tome, and as they cast a shadow flare directed right at the octo-guts, there's a realization of gratitude. )

[ There was something... horrifyingly familiar about the way Ultros spoke, tentacles waving tantalisingly at everyone even though this was the first she had ever encountered him that she knew of.

Holding herself back from unleashing any words or noises of disgust (she had still been taught to respect this one anyway, after all), she casts Aera upon any of those tentacles that dare to come too close to any of them. ]
