Crystals have fallen out of the Dream Width in a beautiful meteor shower and scattered all over the world! Due to their origins and mysterious properties, the Curti Center is interested in gathering as many as they can for researching purposes. To incentivize the public in helping out, O'aka has donated a few silver coupons to those top few who collect the most crystals. There's also a rumor that the one person (or more if there's a tie) who collects the most, wins something marvelous and mysterious~

The hunt for these crystals have taken storm across Vaikuntha and they're suddenly worth a lot. It's all anyone talks about anymore! The locals have gone crazy with it! If you weren't interested to begin with, surely the madness that is this new fad has sunk its teeth in. Besides, who knows what the crystals can actually do? Are they gifts? Curses? Dust collectors? Only one way to find out.

Success! Pidge is able to steal an Egg Crystal for herself! There are a few more in the pile, too, and-

The ground shakes. Thunder booms in the background on this cloudless day. The trees begin the part.

A T-Rex appears, towering over the remains of the cathedral. It looks infected with something, purple and black webs spreading across its skin, polluting one of its eyes. Maybe it doesn't see Pidge... or maybe it does.

The T-Rex roars loudly, shaking the very air, and starts stomping over to the nest.

"Pidge?"

She was a smart chick. She was sneaky. This was going to be easy?

"Pidge!" And, as if she wouldn't notice the monster roaring at her until it was dramatically narrated: "There's a T-Rex! There's a T-Rex coming from behind you, and it looks angry!"

[mech_and_mutt]

"That's... no ordinary T-rex. Somethin' is seriously wrong with it."

And, from the looks of things, not 'wrong' in any way that actually made it weaker. Red's •Magitek Armor was crouched as low and inconspicuous as he could manage it-- as inconspicuous as one could hope to make a mech, anyway-- and he was halfway to dashing in and scooping Pidge up on the spot.

Except he wasn't quite sure the monster had even seen them yet. Hopefully Pidge was as sneaky as she thought she was...

Klonoa gasps, hunkering down as he watches in horrified fascination at the scene unfolding ahead of them like an unfolding throw rig depicting a Bosch painting.

...He fiddles with the Wind Ring, preparing to transform it into a shield. That seems like a really good idea right now.

Pidge will surely die, if that thing gets hold of her. That would be... annoying. And messy. Time to take to the skies, cast [Protect], and engage distraction tactics. "It's Calamity-marked. Keep away from it at all costs."
Hopefully, he can keep its attention on him for a moment while remaining out of range of its jaws, too high to bite. "Hey! Up here, you lumbering oaf! Get the crystals, and run- fly, if you can! Opalescence can carry two and Red has his magitek armor!"

Things started happening really quickly after she snatched up crystal. The ground started to shake and, before long, a T-Rex came stomping into view.

"What-?!"

It was certainly not what she'd been expecting to see. But she didn't have much time to ponder it before someone was shouting at her. Pidge whipped her head around just as Okuyasu decided to point out their surprise guest. "Yea, I uh... I noticed~ Thanks!"

Fortunately, it didn't seem to have noticed them yet. So she could probably just sneak right on out of here with her shiny new crystal.

Except that wouldn't do much for the others.

The decision was made for her as Kuja began to shout. If he wanted to try and lure that thing's attention, who was she to try and stop him? Instead, she was more concerned about their reason for being here in the first place.

"Well, c'mon! You heard him! These crystals aren't going to grab themselves, guys~"

The T-Rex hadn't noticed Pidge, no. But that shouting? Oh, yeah. She's jogging towards Okuyasu's direction, roaring in anger that he's so close to her nest.

But then she's distracted again by Kuja. She roars loud enough to make his bones rattle, chasing after the damn fly.

If the goal was to piss her off, congratulations! She snaps for Kuja but knows she'll likely miss. Keeping an eye on him, she still heads for Okuyasu.

Well. She's angry, that's for certain. No time for half-measures. He dances out of reach of the snap, gathering magic for an attack-
And fires off a spear of ice in the form of [Blizzaga].

Staring down a calamity T-rex and all Pidge could think about was getting more crystals?!... well, he couldn't blame her for keeping her eyes on the prize, but.

"You'd better snag a few for the rest of us!!"

For the moment, that thing was making a beeline for Okuyasu; and he'd be much safer with a Magitek Armor taking a •Sentinel position and interposing itself between him and the T-rex--

...but not getting hit would be even better. Well, purely for Okuyasu's safety- and to make doubly certain that neither of them would need to take a blow from The Strongest Monster Now Made Ever Stronger- the boy would be lifted in a set of gigantic mechanical arms and raced around the nest at a sprint.

"Just hurry up over there!!"

[righthandstand]

Red had excellent timing. Okuyasu had stood his ground and made a threatening if obscene gesture at the charging T-Rex, but was pulled away by two metal hands, and they weren't Cybertronian.

"Piss the hell off!" He shook a fist at the T-Rex. He could escape if he wanted to! He could teleport! A few feet, that is, but he could do it!

It seemed like the other four had things mostly under control for the time being, so Pidge decided to take Red's expert advice. The only possible snag she could see with that was figuring out how to carry four of the crystals.

Fortunately, she was good at improvising.

"You're in luck. I'm feeling charitable~"

Or ridiculous. Either way, she wasted no time in stuffing that egg crystal down her shirt. Three more followed shortly after, and she carefully cradled the fifth in her arms as she made a break for Red and Okuyasu.
