Crystals have fallen out of the Dream Width in a beautiful meteor shower and scattered all over the world! Due to their origins and mysterious properties, the Curti Center is interested in gathering as many as they can for researching purposes. To incentivize the public in helping out, O'aka has donated a few silver coupons to those top few who collect the most crystals. There's also a rumor that the one person (or more if there's a tie) who collects the most, wins something marvelous and mysterious~

The hunt for these crystals have taken storm across Vaikuntha and they're suddenly worth a lot. It's all anyone talks about anymore! The locals have gone crazy with it! If you weren't interested to begin with, surely the madness that is this new fad has sunk its teeth in. Besides, who knows what the crystals can actually do? Are they gifts? Curses? Dust collectors? Only one way to find out.

[ It was hard enough trying to process things in a second language to begin with, but throwing a third one into the mix made it even harder. Ena has a frown on her face as she listens to their exchange, trying her hardest to pick words out.

As she floats down to Neggi, she brushes off the spot that Pitto touched. ]

Well, he said you wanted green, and not to touch the yellow one.

“Yfacusa!” Neggi says with a nod and smile. He’s still holding out his hand.

… Okay, it’s starting to get awkward now. “Uh, dra luibmehkc? Oui tu ryja dras, nekrd?”

> “I have no idea what you’re saying.”
> “If you’re asking about the couplings, I don’t have them on me right now.”

[ ...Did he just call her a nerd?

Ena squints at him and tilts her head. A little awkward, indeed. ]

I'm sorry, If you're asking about the couplings, I don't have them on me right now. But I can fetch some if you need me to.

Neggi drops his hand and groans. “Tet Pitto dyga dras du Kebbym? Dryd sunuh tuach'd ghuf fryd ra'c tuehk! E'mm ryhtma drec!” He stands up and points down at the hole. “You go ahead and get started. Pa nekrd pylg!”

He then takes off after the first guy, leaving you to your own devices.

> Leave the stadium while you have the chance.
> Look down the hole.

[ Ena watches as he leaves with a sigh. Well, she made that one angry somehow. Time to see what she can do on her own. She carefully makes her way over to where he was and looks down the hole. ]

You poke your head beneath the grating to find four motors sitting in flood water. One of them is black and lit up, purring away. The other three - green, purple, and yellow - are dark and silent. They aren’t magitek or anything like that, just something completely different.

The purple motor looks to be in decent condition. It has a large switch just within reach to apparently turn it off and on.

The green has a large panel missing on the front to show the inner workings, where it looks like more parts are missing. Luckily, Neggi left some parts sitting on top of the machine. You figure you can eyeball the rest and cobble it back together yourself.

The yellow looks dented and scorched, has definitely seen better days. Perhaps that’s the one Neggi was bashing on when you arrived. The on and off switch is within reach of that one, too.

What do you do?

> Turn on the purple motor.
> Turn on the yellow motor.
> Try to put pieces back into the green motor.
> Wait for Neggi to return.

[ Ena squints at the machinery. If there was one thing she didn't know much about, it was stuff like this. Even after being in Vaikuntha for as long as she had, she still couldn't quite wrap her head around all this tech.

So her unfamiliarity coupled with the understanding that this is not her place to fix this, she steps back from the hole and looks up in the direction the two disappeared to, to wait for Neggi to return. ]

Neggi comes stomping back into view. He doesn’t look mad, at least, but definitely confused. “Rao, E zicd dymgat du res. Ra cyet oui cdemm ryt dra luibmehkc. Fryd rybbahat du dras?”

He’s waiting for an answer.

> “Yes.”
> “No.”
> “About a quarter past nine.”
> Finally admit you have no idea what he’s saying.
> Point out that there’s something wrong with the motors.

Umm... [ She hesitates for a moment, but then settles on the realization that she should be honest. ]

I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're saying. If there's any way I can help, could you please tell me what that might be in, er, Common...?

Neggi stares at you for a moment. “Oui tuh'd cbayg Al Bhed, tu oui?” He sounds exhausted. “Oui tuh'd ryja dra luibmehkc aedran. Oui'na muugehk vun y lnocdym. E lyh'd pameaja drec. Vuindr uha dutyo. Fa'na hajan kuehk du veq drec.” He puts his hands on his hips, glaring at you. “Famm, fryd tu oui-”

He pauses, blinks, and speaks again. “What do you have to say for yourself?”

> Ask what happened.
> Apologize and leave.

[ Ena looks on quizzically. She can't just leaves, so she asks what happened. ]

[hatejakku]

Neggi sighs but looks out at the waters. “The stadium has the best pumps in Ka’Pandol. They’re here in case something goes wrong during a game, ya know? We tried turning them on to help with the floods, but they backed up on us. Everytime we try to drain the stadium, the damn pumps stop up. Everytime we pump water into the sphere, it fails and we get more than we had before. The only way we can even keep working is to push the water out to the rest of city and that’s not helping anybody!”

He sighs again and looks up at the arch before turning his head back down to the hole. “We were thinking that if we got all these old motors running again, we could do a check of the whole system to see what’s wrong. But because the equipment is so old and outdated, it won’t work at all. They need parts and rewiring and- We upgraded the equipment years ago. Never thought we had to use these again, and now look where we are.”

He shakes his head, at a loss.

> Ask if there’s any way you can help.
> Apologize and leave.

[ Ena frowns and nods along, sort of comprehending what sort of problem they were in.

Obviously, she was here now, barging in on their business, and it would be rude if she just waltzed away after all this. ]

Is there anything I can do to help?

Neggi tilts his head, strokes his chin, and thinks about it for a second. “Well, the problem’s with the older pipes, I think,” he says, contemplating the watery depths of the stadium. “If we can figure out what’s wrong with them, we won’t need those couplings at all.

“And you’re one of those people who helped kill that dragon, right? Yeah, I’m sure you can handle it! Go on in!”
