Crystals have fallen out of the Dream Width in a beautiful meteor shower and scattered all over the world! Due to their origins and mysterious properties, the Curti Center is interested in gathering as many as they can for researching purposes. To incentivize the public in helping out, O'aka has donated a few silver coupons to those top few who collect the most crystals. There's also a rumor that the one person (or more if there's a tie) who collects the most, wins something marvelous and mysterious~

The hunt for these crystals have taken storm across Vaikuntha and they're suddenly worth a lot. It's all anyone talks about anymore! The locals have gone crazy with it! If you weren't interested to begin with, surely the madness that is this new fad has sunk its teeth in. Besides, who knows what the crystals can actually do? Are they gifts? Curses? Dust collectors? Only one way to find out.

Ooooh, spooky. But, no, Naomi chuckled at the mention of Holy.

"Good idea. Well, let's not wait any longer..."

She entered the building.

"Naturally."

She shook her head in dismay. Unfinished business, right? But she was right behind Naomi when they stepped inside, and it was like treading into a wall of sheer cold, furniture coated in thick, dusty spiderwebs.

"...I'll take this over temples," she remarked, her breath a visible cloud of mist.

"My woo-woo meter isn't going off yet, though."

"Give it a moment. They summoned us in, but there was no guarantee we would follow."

Yes, a setting like this was all too familiar for Naomi; comfortable even. Taking several more steps, she was listening for that voice that called to them previously.

No voice calls out this time. Silence permeates the area for a moment...

Then there's a crash in the room to their right, the sound of glass shattering into a million pieces.

They can choose to go left, forward, or to the right towards the noise...

Quiet... Nothing moves...

The glass draws her attention and she turned her head just to acknowledge what happened. However, she also looked in Madhuri's direction.

"... Do you want to see what that was?"

Madhuri set her jaw and stood straighter.

"Yes! Of course."

No need to fear! She marched straight for the noise.

The room the two entered was a kitchen. There was a stove and an empty space where a fridge probably used to sit, grime around the edges of the room, and one dusty pan sitting on a barren counter.

There's no glass on the floor. Nothing that remotely looks broken.

But there is another crash in the room they just came from.

And there was nothing in this room. Just a fairly standard kitchen she supposed, but no glass from that shattering before. Spooky... she guessed.

Several of her eyes looked back the way they came and then moved over to Madhuri.

"Let's continue on."

"Right..."

But she felt uncomfortable looking at this kitchen. She wasn't entirely sure why, but when she reached back to pat a leg of the arachnid doctor, she signaled she'd be right behind her.

"Hmm, no pattern to their signaling. But the rooms don't exactly shift or anything either... what is their aim?"

The only difference is the window looking out into the street. The sky is red.

Feeling Madhuri's part, Naomi raised an eyebrow. Was she alright? Either way, turning around...

"Huh..."

They were in the kitchen again, but she was fairly certain they left. It was all in the same order, no glass on the floor, but the sky outdoors... what a particular color.

Whaaaa, wait, okay. She would have noticed if they walked a circle. She wanted to leave the kitchen. No more kitchens. This was making her skin crawl a bit.

She raised her staff and thrust it against the window to shatter the glass.

"That's enough of that...! Show yourself!"

The window shatters and glass trails across the floor. In the room they just left, another window shatters just as loudly. The outside doesn't really seem to matter, though. There's no sound or wind or anything. Just the red, churning sky above.

The glass on the floor melts and begins to pool together, slowly forming two crystals.

It's weird that they enjoy the sound of shattering glass... but there's also a worrying implication at the idea of shattering glass too. They should go look, but she paused. Looking back at Madhuri, she wondered how she was holding up.

[songbird_slayer]

"Look... crystals! Let's grab these puppies and get on out of here! I'm through getting fooled with. I didn't bring my fooling hat anyway."

She pat her very bare, purple-haired head accordingly. Was that usual feathered cap for japes? Who knew?

"I got them, Madhuri. Calm down..."

Two of her spindly legs pick them up actually, bringing them back to her claws. "... What's going on? You were like this during Halloween."
