Crystals have fallen out of the Dream Width in a beautiful meteor shower and scattered all over the world! Due to their origins and mysterious properties, the Curti Center is interested in gathering as many as they can for researching purposes. To incentivize the public in helping out, O'aka has donated a few silver coupons to those top few who collect the most crystals. There's also a rumor that the one person (or more if there's a tie) who collects the most, wins something marvelous and mysterious~

The hunt for these crystals have taken storm across Vaikuntha and they're suddenly worth a lot. It's all anyone talks about anymore! The locals have gone crazy with it! If you weren't interested to begin with, surely the madness that is this new fad has sunk its teeth in. Besides, who knows what the crystals can actually do? Are they gifts? Curses? Dust collectors? Only one way to find out.

Kuja groans, as he looks around. How on earth did he get caught up in this? He'll have to try going right. Isn't that what you're supposed to do in a situation like this?

Kuja makes a right turn and immediately comes across a chest. It wobbles just as Kuja approaches, right out of the corner of his eye.

It's also blocking the path...

There's a theatrical sigh as Kuja contemplates this. Clearly a mimic. He's not about to be fooled by this, surely- but it could have the crystal he needs. Hmm.

It's unlikely to work, but if it does, then he'll have eliminated the obstacle with a minimum of effort. Kuja casts [Death].

Death: Failed

The Mimic pops its little eyes open to realize that a spell was just almost put on him. How rude!

It lunges to attack Kuja with a hefty bite.

Well, that was worth a shot. Kuja backpedals, preparing a [Firaga] to blast the beast as it lunges, hopefully using its attack to ensure it can't evade mid-air.

Mimic's Health Remaining: 0%

The blast absolutely wrecks the Mimic! In the remains, Kuja will find a pair of Dragoon Boots.

Kuja sees no reason not to. He activates the Dragoon Boots, and continues on.

As he tries to continue on, the boots activate. Hopefully, Kuja's ready for this. Without his control, he suddenly jumps high into the sky! Better land on your feet, buddy!

Up in the air, it's easy to see the immediate areas. Off to the left, a single turn away, is a wide open area with a giant chest sitting in the middle. That looks like a jackpot!

Good luck with that landing because it's happening now.

Kuja, of course, has [Glide] which ought to at least slow his fall. If not... well, he'll just have to heal himself when he lands.
He turns left, either way, once it's sorted out.

Kuja walks into a wide, cleared area where a gigantic chest sits in the middle.

The chest... yawns... Uh-oh! Its eyes are open and suddenly sees that there's a visitor! It seems stunned that someone managed to find it in here and freezes on the spot.

Kuja frowns. Not attacking, so that's a bonus. "I don't suppose you'd be willing to give me what I came for without a fuss?" He'sgoing to [Focus], just in case.

[hatejakku]

Oh... It's not every day that someone doesn't just attack this Mimic on sight. That's new.

It blinks at Kuja and opens its mouth, showing a Shadow Crystal inside. Almost like it wants him to take it and leave him in peace... or it's a trap to bite his hand off?

Kuja approaches, with care- reaching out to take the crystal with one hand while a [Flare] orb forms in his other hand. The implication, he should think, is clear- I'm willing to trust you on this, but so much as twitch, and you're so much firewood.

[hatejakku]

The Mimic looks warily between Kuja and the spell but doesn't do anything. He's able to take the Crystal without anyone coming to harm. Then, once he's safely away, the Mimic slams his lid down tight.

There's also a path that leads out of the maze. Good job, Hero!

The spell dissipates, and Kuja absconds with his Crystal, quite pleased with himself.
