Crystals have fallen out of the Dream Width in a beautiful meteor shower and scattered all over the world! Due to their origins and mysterious properties, the Curti Center is interested in gathering as many as they can for researching purposes. To incentivize the public in helping out, O'aka has donated a few silver coupons to those top few who collect the most crystals. There's also a rumor that the one person (or more if there's a tie) who collects the most, wins something marvelous and mysterious~

The hunt for these crystals have taken storm across Vaikuntha and they're suddenly worth a lot. It's all anyone talks about anymore! The locals have gone crazy with it! If you weren't interested to begin with, surely the madness that is this new fad has sunk its teeth in. Besides, who knows what the crystals can actually do? Are they gifts? Curses? Dust collectors? Only one way to find out.

Uendo makes a left turn and immediately comes across a chest. It wobbles just as Uendo approaches, right out of the corner of his eye.

It's also blocking the path...

Is that a Mimic? It's totally a Mimic. Uendo considers backing off; he's never been in combat by himself before. But on the other hand, after facing Bahamut and surviving, running away from a box would be a bit ridiculous.

He can handle this.

"Ifrit!" He casts Partial Summoning, calling on Ifrit to use Meteor Strike to knock the chest over.

Mimic's Remaining Health: 0% overkill

Due to the surprise attack and the Mimic's weakness to fire, Uendo only hears an alarmed screech before the Mimic is destroyed! In the remains, Uendo finds a leather sack of 10,000 gil and a Chocobo Feather.

It's up to Uendo if he wants to use his new treasure or not.

Oho, nice! Even if they don't find a crystal, they've already made profit. And the easy win is nice for his ego, too.

Not so nice that he'd want to find more fights, though. As soon as he figures out what the feather is for, he's going to make use of it. Looks like their luck is turning around!

Uendo uses the Chocobo Feather! It's super effective! Chest destroyed, he continues into the maze.

There seems to be nothing down this way! Which is both good and bad, I suppose. Just more paths to take, but you can feel that you're getting closer to something.

He'll follow his gut and keep moving forward! He's bound to stumble upon something sooner or later, right?

Uendo keeps going and immediately comes across another chest. It doesn't move or anything, doesn't seem to be a trap.

It's also blocking the path...

Upon opening the chest, he will find a pair of Dragoon Boots!

Oho, what have we here? He's just finding useful stuff left and right now!

...So uh... How does he use this? Does he put the boots on or...?

Hopefully, Uendo's ready for this. As soon as he gets the boots on, he jumps high into the sky! Better land on your feet, buddy!

Up in the air, it's easy to see the immediate areas. Off to the right, a single turn away, is a wide open area with a giant chest sitting in the middle. That looks like a jackpot!

Good luck with that landing because it's happening now.

Uendo was not ready.

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!"

Up he goes screaming into the sky, flailing. He catches a glimpse of the chest but that's slightly less important than the fact he's now falling oh shit oh shit oh shiiiiiii--

The nimble-footed Patches to the rescue! With a twist in the air, the jester just about gets their feet under them before they hit the ground. He trips, sways, tumbles onto his butt and goes still for a second, stunned. Then he bursts into horrified laughter.

"That was so cool! Can we do that again?"

'NO.'

Still giggling out of sheer shock, Patches scrambles onto his feet and shuffles onward, taking that right turn to where Uendo saw the chest.

Patches walks into a wide, cleared area where a gigantic chest sits in the middle.

The chest... yawns... Uh-oh! Its eyes are open and suddenly sees that there's a visitor! It seems stunned that someone managed to find it in here and freezes on the spot.

"Found ya~! What have you got hiding in your tummy, huh?"

'He's going to have US in there soon if you just stand there gloating!'

It seemed to work the last time, so Patches gives his staff a twirl and calls on Ifrit once again with Partial Summoning. With the repeated summons, Meteor Strike is now a little stronger!

Mimic's Remaining Health: 0%

The bursts into flames and flails for half a second before falling to pieces. In the rubble, Patches will find one Shadow Crystal!!

Oh, right, and the path beyond the burning remains of the Mimic seems to lead out of the maze!
