Event || Mysterious Fathoms Below
Who: All characters who signed up
When: June 23rd-25th
Where: Ka'Pandol, the underwater city
What: While the outworlders and their guides are touring the new arena at Ka'Pandol, the city begins to flood. It is up to them to activate the ancient drainage system beneath the city before the Blitzball Association is forced to cancel the upcoming tournament.
The Zora guide, Pharce, is leading the group from the Curti Center through the center of town, waxing poetical about the legend of the First Zora, when the sirens begin to wail. At first, the residents of Ka'Pandol wave it off as a drill, but the sirens do not stop, and as they walk, the visitor shoes are beginning to get soaked through with sea water that is slowly rising.
"Come along, quickly, all of you!" the guide calls, leading the group to the Bureau of Tourism near the city center. As they walk, the group will see the aquatic residents quickly deploying bubble helmets around their 'exotic' pets -dogs, cats, parrots, squirrels- heads, just in case City Management takes their time righting whatever issue the dome is having.
"Inside, please. Safety first is our motto, so let's get you outfitted," Pharce says, waiving them inside. Each person is given one of the patented Ka'Pandol Bubble Helm, which will allow them to breath comfortably for several hours. Those that cannot swim are issued an emergency life vest as well.
The water had reached knee-level now. An emergency evacuation message broadcasts from loudspeakers.
"Well, yes, you could...but where's the fun in that?"
Pharce waves at the Hypello gift shop owner, and the two bow their heads in discussion for a moment. When they part, Pharce pats the Hypello (whose nametag declares him 'Shtan') on the back.
"My good friend will lend us some of his wares, if you will join me in saving the city. We wouldn't want this little mishap to delay the big game, after all."
Those that agree to hold off on fleeing the city will be split into groups and given instructions on where to go in order to help the sinking city of Ka'Pandol.

He had just gotten another adult to stop trying to tug him and get to safety instead when he heard the accented voice behind him, Mogki clinging to one of his shoulders. He stood up from where he'd accidentally tripped and fallen shortly after sending the adult on their way and nodded.
"I'm fine," He said, although quite soaked as it were and wadding through the water towards the man. "I think everyone is gone from here, I sent the last person out.
no subject
"Perfect. We should head out as well. The place is becoming rather unstable," Ignis says pushing his glasses up and glancing around one last time before pointing behind him.
"We should check on the next floor as well. I heard the glass break as the water sphere gave in." Maybe there are some injured. He doesn't ask the boy not to help him- he was sure he saw him earlier through the flurry of people as they made their way out.
no subject
"Right," Mogki climbed up to his head as the water continued to rise. "Hope! We're gonna drown, do you even know how to swim?"
Hope sighed as he looked for the stairway up to the next level. "I'll be fine."
no subject
"Let's go before the floor caves in underneath us," Ignis warns, leading the way towards the stairs. Just as they reached the stairs, Ebony comes flying down, completely flustered and wet, his scarf weighing him down.
"Iggy-! The glass gave in upstairs," Ebony tried to explain it as fast as he could as Ignis made sure the scarf was taken off and thrown away. "I think someone got badly stabbed as they were running away!"
"Thank you Ebony," Ignis nods and looks over, "We should hurry!"
no subject
He followed behind Ignis, the water was rising fast and given his short stature, he was getting worried. But as they get to the stairs, his moogle comes by quite frantic. He gasped as well and nodded.
"Let's go! I have potions, by the way, in case they need it."
His bag felt awfully heavy now from the water as they wet up and it drained itself but he pushed on. The potions were definitely going to be useful.
no subject
"What are your abilities?"
Ignis can't heal, that's a given, but he can quickly retrieve the person in question. He doesn't want to put the boy in jeopardy if his skills can't support him. The damp clothes are already holding him back.
no subject
But then, as he caught his breath, he shook his head.
He hadn't gained any experience yet. "I only just arrived. I don't really have many abilities."
no subject
"Stay here. You too Ebony," he frowns at his Moogle who seemed ready to dash down the hall.
"I have no healing abilities and the potions that were on me I already used. I will only get the person and be back." His ninja asterisk should allow him to move fast despite the water. "You will help me tend to the wound, alright?"
no subject
He didn't like being sidelined like this, but there was nothing he could do. These were the times being a l'Cie was a boon, not a curse. He nodded. "Okay. I'll have the potions ready."
no subject
The injured guy was already trying to make his way towards Ignis. He didn't look older than eighteen and there was a huge gash in his leg. Ignis didn't spend a lot of time explaining what was going on- he just grabbed the guy and threw his hand over his shoulders and headed back.
If he gets back unscathed it will be a miracle.
no subject
The injured person was going to slow Ignis down at this rate, not that it was his fault, but it meant Ignis might get injured in the process. He though he had enough potions on him, but it would be best not to use them all up at once.
When they seemed close enough, Hope chanced it. He dropped his bag and, keeping watching above, he sprinted towards the duo and took hold of the other man. "C'mon, lean on me, we gotta hurry."
Without the bag weighing him down, he could at least try dodge a few things. He had a little practice being on the run, after all.
no subject
"Thank you," Ignis gives Hope a nod of thanks then looks over at the guy.
"Can you take care of his wound?" Chemists... can make potions right? That's a very useful asterisk. Maybe he should've gone for something like that instead of two very aggressive ones.
no subject
Different worlds, different rules, and he forgot to ask about said rules. Thankfully, the injured fellow was awake and able to tell him it's something they drink. He nodded and unbottled the hi-potion, handing it over. He then handed Ignis a potion. "The water getting in might lead to infection, better to close it up now than let it go just in case."
no subject
He didn't like the fact that they had to waste an entire potion on him because of one scratch but- if it does get infected- they will waste a lot more things. So he uses the potion and then helps the injured man back on his feet.
"You should be alright now. Head for the exit." Speaking of which, he turns to Ebony:"Is there anything else? Any news from Noct?"
Ebony just shakes his head and flails:"Not yet kupo! But we should get out as well! The others said that everyone left except for groups that headed for the mechanisms, kupo!"
no subject
"Going toward the mechanisms? To help stop whatever caused this?"
If so, he wanted in. He looked down the stairwell and saw the water rising, along with more terrible noises as things continued to give way to the water.
"We need to make a decision quick."
no subject
Ignis pushes his glasses up, torn on what to do. It sounds that the groups have more than enough people so he wonders if he should go. There are still a lot of people here that could use the help.
"I haven't seen many evacuation volunteers, so I will not be joining the groups. However, I can escort you to one if you wish." And make sure that debris doesn't fall on the boy's head before he even gets a chance to do something. "Your potion supply could be of good use to them."
no subject
The moogle looked indignant at that but sighed. "I could probably help..."
"Less people and moogles, the better, for these kinds of things. Don't worry, little guy, I'll be fine. I'll find a group with someone I know."
That seemed to placate the moogle a bit and Hope turned back to the ninja. "My name is Hope, by the way. Thanks again."
no subject
"Pleased to meet you Hope, I'm Ignis Scientia. This is Ebony," he shows at the Moogle floating near Hope, looking perplexed, worried and as if on pins and needles.
"You have a wonderful name," Ignis says, a bit wistfully, pushing his glasses up. "Ebony."
The Moogle perks up.
"Lead us to the mechanisms. You know the way around here, correct?"
"I looked over the maps, kupo! I'll take you there, kupo!" And with that exclamation he heads for the door.
"Excellent. Let's go."
no subject
But he followed Ebony and Ignis to where there would eventually be groups to help drain the area. "Mogki, stay with Ebony, okay? And be good."
"I'm always good!"
As they made there way, Hope also checked his supplies. He had gotten as much as he could afford for now. He just hoped it was enough.
no subject
"Don't worry, we won't let anything happen to Mogki!" Ebony tried to reassure Hope as he led them down the stairs. The route seemed to be a bit long but Ignis couldn't complain about it. It would probably keep them far away from the danger of things breaking under the weight of water.
He also wishes he had spare potions on hand to lend him.
"Be careful down there," Ignis warns gently as they take a turn when they get down the stairs. "I realize we just met and that I probably shouldn't tell you what to do. So just be careful."
no subject
"It's okay, I appreciate it. When we're all done, why don't we get a bite to eat or something? It'll make up for telling me what to do."
His grin showed he was kidding, but he felt the need to lighten the mood. The situation was pretty dire, but already things were underway to help resolve it. So, he had high hopes for it. No pun intended.
"Dinner on Ebony!!" Mogki cheered.
no subject
But at the suggestion that the dinner is on Ebony made Ignis' brain go to a screeching halt because-
"Oh! I will DEFINITIVELY cook something good, kupo! I watched Iggy cook a lot so I know a lot, kupo!~"
The reply was instant:"No. You're not allowed in the kitchen."
The ban didn't make Ebony look too deterred though. He'll come up with something.
Ignis turns his attention to Hope:"We will wait for you on the first floor. Some of my friends went for the machinery as well so I will be waiting on them too."
no subject
He paused, then, and had an idea. He pulled off the teal bandanna he always wore and put it around Mogki's neck. The moogle patted it and twirled in delight. "But you always wear this, kupo!"
"I know, but you'll be easier to spot. So keep it safe for me, okay?"
"You got it, kupo!"
no subject
"My scarf! My scarf is gone..." As well as the two pens he usually keeps behind each ear. Ignis just gives him a short head-pat.
"Once we wrap this up I will get you another one," Ignis promises and Ebony lights up like a Christmas tree.
"You better get going Hope," Ignis turns to the boy again. "Or the group might depart without you."
no subject
"Stay safe, Ignis, we'll have the place drained before you know it!"
