Spooky Scary Skeleton (And Other Friends) [Closed]
Who: Frisk, Papyrus, Baiken, Kuja, and Chara
When: All throughout October
Where: The spookiest of spookplaces in Vaikuntha
What: Frisk gets a'exorcisin', and they call on a few friends to help out.
Warnings/Notes: General fun spoopiness, will tag further as needed
Frisk was always a fan of haunted house rides. At least when the staff wasn't chewing them out for sneaking in. The real thing, surprisingly, wasn't all that more creepy, and definitely more cute. At least sometimes.
[OOC: Separate toplevels for separate quests.]

They smile, although not in the cocky, grin-splitting-face way that they normally do. "I guess I can also add 'Chara's knowledge of botany' to my list of things that have saved and will probably continue to save my ass here. It's a surprisingly useful skill."

"Although," Chara says quietly for a moment, "It's nice to get to use it a bit more. ...It's been a long time since I've been someplace this abundant with life. Plant life, I mean."
As much as they hadn't wanted to leave the Underground, had thought that coming to the surface would be a terrible idea for a number of reasons, Chara has to admit that being back on a surface now they can't help but be awed by it's beauty.
"Have to admit, if I ever wanted to haunt some place, it'd be some place like this."

Their mood suddenly drops, however, and they stare at the ground, chewing on the inside of their cheek. "Hey, Chara, I have a-"
Before they can finish their sentence, ghostly screaming echoes across the field. Except the screaming isn't so much haunting as it is panicked. "OH GREAT KING MOGGLE MOG I CAN'T SEE WHY CAN'T I SEE, KUPOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" A headless moogle dressed in a fancy suit drunkly careens past, riding on a black chocobo.

Chara turns to look at Frisk, sensing the downswing in the mood. Their brow creases a little in concern as they start.
But then before the question can get out, a scream just echoes throughout the field. Chara immediately turns to it and tenses, preparing for a fight. What they get instead is a poor, headless moogle just stampeding on their chocobo out of control. Chara tries to think of something to put up with their geomancer powers, a way to change a bit of the geography to stop the moogle, but everything they can think of is just some variation of creating a wall for the moogle to smash into. They're not doing that.
"Hey! Hey stop!" Chara says, running after the headless moogle. If that little guy isn't careful, he's going to die. Again.

And with that Frisk is... gone. Well, not quite. It goes like this: flashstep, flashstep, unnecessary youth roll, flashstep, grappling hook (thanks for the idea, Baiken), flashstep, youth roll again... it appears that mastering Ninja with a speed boost pays dividends. While they're not quite able to close the distance with the galloping chocobo, they're at least able to keep pace.

Using Earth Mastery, Chara manages to force a large enough chunk of earth loose, hard enough, to launch them. It's kind of exhilarating, even if it is a little weird to actually be sort of 'flying' through the air.
"Whoa whoa whoa whoa!" Chara shouts, arms flapping a bit. Okay. They might have overdone it with how much they just propelled themselves. They may not be soaring, but they're making good progress. In fact, they can see the moogle and his chocobo steed!
They're also heading to crash right into them. Oops.

Frisk catches up moments later, breathing heavily, and offers a hand to help Chara to their feet. "On a scale of one to five stars, how would you rate your travel with Geomancer Airlines?" they joke.

Chara, a little woozy from the trip and the crash, takes Frisk's hand to help steady themselves as they get up. "Think I'm going to have to report them, I'm being honest," they say, smirking. "They haven't really earned their wings yet."
And then they remember. Oh yeah. The headless moogle. Who is still running around screaming. "Hey! Hey, little guy," Chara calls out at him, "It's okay! You're just...a little headless."

Frisk pats the poor thing on the shoulder. They were not dealing with another panicked screaming fit. "Um. Yeah. Can't really do anything about that, but, uh," they suddenly realize they have no plan and improvise, "...maybe we can make some sort of replacement?"
The ghost immediately perks up at the prospect. "Yes, kupo! Please! I'd be forever in your debt, kupo!"
Turning to Chara, Frisk shrugs and smiles sheepishly. "Um... a pumpkin carvin' we go, I guess?"
no subject
Chara points to Frisk, wagging their finger. "Sounds like a plan to me," they say, before looking over to the ghost. "Hey, we'll be right back! Take a load off for now, and you'll have a new head good as wholesale soon enough."
Because the last thing they need is for the ghost to just take off again. Chara begins to look out around them, wishing that Sense Earth could work as a pumpkin sensor, but for now at least it might help them keep an eye on their ghost friend, at least for a little ways.
"This place looks like it should have pumpkins somewhere," Chara says. "Shouldn't take us all that long to find."
no subject
"Probably. There's a metaphor I could reach for, but the fact that we're surrounded by actual wheat would make it a bit too trite." Frisk smirks, waiting for Chara to pick up on the pun, before meandering off in a random direction.

They pause for a moment as they walk with Frisk, then say, "You wanted to ask me something before our headless pal showed up, partner?"

"So, I talked to them, and... well, they've been through the Underground a lot of times. Like. A lot. So much so that they can do all the puzzles in Snowdin blindfolded, and in case you don't have those in your world, that's a lot of puzzle to do. And the thing is, they... apparently got a really good ending? An almost perfect one, actually. There was just one person that they couldn't save. So they went back and tried, again and again and again, to try and find a way to, well, save them, whoever they are."
Frisk shakes their head, frowning. "I mean, that's noble and all, but... don't you have to give up after a certain point? Isn't it kinda unfair to keep everybody else trapped down there for the sake of just one person, especially when you have a tried and true method for getting everybody else out? They aren't able to perceive it, sure, but it still feels... icky to me. And sure, I don't know who they weren't able to save, or if they're dead or something else, but still.
"And then there's how I'm not sure I wouldn't end up doing literally the exact same thing in their shoes! On a fundamental level, we're the same person. Slightly different genes, slightly different backgrounds, but we're still the same. So I'm probably the least qualified to assess this whole thing!"
