Pet projects
Who: [OU] Red Savarin and you- including new arrivals!
When: August 03 - August 14th
Where: Cloud City and occasionally Curti Center
What: Red's finally convinced the Magitek Knights to retrofit his beloved mecha DAHAK-AZI03 to be combat-capable and he's keen on showing it off... but he's still got one other big item on his agenda: Fixing up his airship. And he's a little short on cash for it.
And that yearning to feel the high-altitude winds in his face once again was about the only thing that could have gotten Red to set up a petting booth.
Warnings/Notes: No content warnings yet.
A. Canis Ex Machina
[It only took him a gruelling four months since his arrival- or three, less the month it took for his battered-yet-beloved mecha to tumble in through the Dream Width- but, after a few favors and finally getting the sign-off from the Magitek Knights, Red was back in the saddle and at the controls of the new and improved DAHAK Mk. II! ...Or was it Mk. III now?
Whatever the case, he was four months late in taking it out for a stroll, and gleefully enjoyed a few mech-mounted strolls through the windswept streets of Cloud City... and, once word came back that the Dream Width was acting up again, he extended his promenade to Curti Center, all too readily slipping back into his old habit of trying to find any job or task to which he could lend the aid of an awesome mech. He'd had this thing sitting slumped over in cargo for far too long-- it was time to get some use out of it again!
Besides, he'd promised a few people he'd show them his mecha. So much the better that he waited until it was up and running again, right?]
B. Ruffled Fur
[But even if he did have his Mecha back, there still remains the teeny-tiny issue of the fact that it was sitting in the cargo bay of an immobile airship with an empty tank and not a fuel pump in Vaikuntha that carried the grade of fuel from back in the Shepherd Republic. It was getting old having to keep the Asmodeus parked and grounded a mile outside Cloud City, and those engine refits wouldn't be cheap.
Being a Blitzball Benchwarmer wasn't speeding up the process as much as he'd have liked. Leviathan's prize helped a little- really, it was almost worth having to see a chunk get bitten out of a fish-deity- but it wasn't enough. Fortunately, Mocha had figured out an idea on how to get some extra dough in a hurry-- something neither his fans nor a good chunk of Vaikuntha would be able to pass up.
Unfortunately, it was a petting booth.
And that's how Red ended up at a cheap wooden stall- looking none too thrilled to be there- set up at a corner of Cloud City (and later, Curtis Center), seated on a small stool with his mecha powered down behind him, yet with a big sign in its metallic grasp proudly proclaming in bold block letters:]
PETTING BOOTH
50 GIL
You know you want to!
[Think of your beloved airship, Red. Do it for the airship.]

[But- disappointing through it was- was anyone surprised the Hypello team took the gold? Well, time to push that aside-- he's got a walk to take and a pickup game to start playing.]
How's Ka'Pandol been holding up since the Leviathan thing, anyhow?
no subject
(He seems pretty proud of that, but does sigh and slump slightly.)
Kinda sucks I wasn't there when it went down, though; would've been pretty cool to take it on myself.

Ya had people goin' in for hits, sure, but then there was the weird stuff, like singin', or poetry, or... the bite.
[Maybe a Gourmand wouldn't find it so weird, but that wasn't even the worst of it...]
...and then this purple octopus showed up and things got really awkward.

...However, the last part of Red's statement has Dante stopping in his tracks and shaking his head.)
We don't talk about Ultros.
no subject
Don't tell me that him showing up is just... a thing that happens sometimes in this world.
[Forget not talking about him. Red Savarin seldom shuts his mouth.]
no subject
He doesn't come up often, but hard to forget when he does. It's usually summoners that wind up dealing with him whenever they take up Typhon. Don't know the link, but neither one of them are all that welcome.

You must have it worse, bein' underwater and all.
no subject
Speaking of underwater...
(Now that the two of them made their way through the Curti Center, the zora gestures towards the Blitzball field he managed to set up. It ain't no arena, but there's definitely enough room to hold a game.)
no subject
That'll work.
[Almost as force of habit, he begins stripping off his coat and stretching his arms above his head.]
Remind me, what position d'you play? Not that it matters much in a two-man game, but...
no subject
How about you?
no subject
Left forward. Can't let you midfielders do all the work, right?
[Thankfully he at least has the presence of mind to keep his shirt on as he steps into the circle.]
Guess I'm ready as I'm gonna be. How about you?
no subject
Likewise. Best of luck to you, pal.
(He gets the blitzball ready and twirls it around his finger before simply holding it in his palm. A simple toss into the air is all it takes to signal game time. The game time horns might as well start blaring once the ball is loose~)
no subject
On the other hand, that meant he knew the ball would be landing in Dante's hands... and by the time it had touched his palms, Red was already making a play for it. A tackle would be difficult from here, but swiping it from the Zora's grip was another story...]
