What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as non-crazy less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

[The ink is hardly dry on Castor's signing with the Monk guild before she's at the pells...but it becomes clear to her very quickly that something is very wrong here.]

[She strikes it again, both confused and angry at it...not practically exploding under her blows. She steps back, looks at her hands, then down at her body.]

Hn. Wonderful.

[After her...rather disappointing encounter at the Monk guild, Castor takes some time to wander about Hisan City, nosing about in every little cafe she comes across, probably looking for something to ease her aching pride. If she sees you, though....]

[She's not taking part in the Dragoon training, but Castor nevertheless sits and watches them jump. Watches and watches and watches for hours with a sad smile on her face. If you were fooling around here, you probably saw her lurking.]

[Bonnie is indeed fooling around. Not as badly as she was at the monk's guild, but she seems way more into this training, giggling as she keeps going back up the tower to leap off again. The moogle seems particularly intent on perfecting her aim on her jump attacks.

As she sits in the snow, trying to catch her breath after the 10th leap she spots Castor and offers a little wave.]

[Castor finger waves back with a little smile. The intrepid little Moogle caught her attention awhile ago.]

Having fun up there, little one?

[An eager nod is thrown back before she hops out of the small pile she'd settled in, wiggling a bit to shake off any clingy snowflakes.]

It's soooooo cooool, kupo! Mary really should have given Dragoon a try. I bet she never jumped from that high before, kupo!

[Bonnie's face lights up, always happy to talk about her favorite person in the whole world. Multiple worlds now!]

Ah! Back on Crystallis I was one of the helper moogles to the Heroes of the Crystal. Mine was Mary Read, she was a pirate from a world she called Earth, kupo. She was also an Assassin and was super good at attacking people from places they weren't expecting.

[She reaches up and tugs on her hood.]

I made this myself. It's just like hers, kupo.

[Halfway between an attempt to flip and drive his spear into his target he catches sight of her. How long has she been there? He bounces between angles targets before he finally thuds into the target nearest to her. He pulls his helmet off and pulls the spear from the target.]

Hey, doing alright over there?

Hm?

[She looks up sharply. Shiro had surprised her, apparently.]

Oh, aye. Just watchin'. Never quite had a mind for lancework myself.

[He could call her out directly but that would be rude. He plants his spear in the ground and sets his helmet on top of the end.]

Mind if I watch with you for a while? I need the break. I like lance work but what I know are my fists and swords.

[littlemhigan]

[She scoots over and gestures for him to sit.] By all means.

I'm rubbish with swords too, despite the best efforts of many. My own body is the best weapon I've got, really. [She glances down at her hands, flexing her fingers briefly.] At least, it would be, but things are screwy right now.

From the sounds of it, you will get back to that level of strength again in time. Not the best thing to hear I know.

[But better than nothing. Shiro sits down beside her as other dragons take to the air.]

Own body is the best weapon...that’s the best way to put how I used to fight too. I thought about monk... [He looks up at the soaring veterans of the Guild.]

This is the closest thing to flying a pilot can get without an airship or aircraft to drive.

'In time,' aye, but I'm not a patient woman. 'Suppose I've dealt with worse, though.

[She sighs and turns her gaze back up, though she steals the odd glance at her new companion.]

Always did seem like an experience. What made up your mind?

[His eyes turn back to the dragoons leaping up. He can practically feel the roar of the magic, and the speed... A smile spreads across his face.]

I've flown different kinds of machines and airships from home. Flying by myself however brief...I couldn't pass that up. Glad I didn't.

It's beautiful up there. I think it will make me a better pilot.

I had a small airship - called it a Manacutter. I loved flying around in it, up near Abalathia's spine. I'd be up for hours and hours at a time, just the wind and my heartbeat.

My best mate was a Dragoon. He eventually put away his lance for the Paladin's calling, but I imagine he felt similarly.

[He eyes grow a bit wide and awe flits across his face. A small personal ship like that. Abalathia's spine...that sounds like some kind of mountain range.]

It's just like that. The wind, your heartbeat, and the roar... There's this weightlessness right before you start falling.

[The first real smile he's had in days turns up the corners of his mouth and he leans back to peer at the veterans of the guild.]

Tell me more about your airship? And where you went with it. Please.

Where didn't I go? All the way from the edge of Dravania to Abalathia's Skull. Sat atop the world awhile. Saw sky without end.

[ Castors gaze moves back to the Dragoons and she leans back on her hands. ]

The manacutter was a little thing; just big enough for me. It was a bit of a prototype, if I remember right. Used a sail to catch wind, little rudder to steer.

[Vax looks up as Castor approaches, with a frozen fruit in hand. It's a sort of combination tasty snack and cool drink. He has bitten through it, and it looks sort of like an iced over super-orange.]

A stall down the way.

I never thought they could keep something cold like this.

Huh. Haven't gone that way yet. [Her gaze wanders in the indicated direction briefly before snapping back to Vax.] Hmm. Where I'm from, I'd guess they just packed it with some ice crystals but here, who knows?

...besides the vendor.

Ice crystals? Probably not where I'm from. I'd guess a spell or some sort of magic bullshit.

[He shakes his head once.]

It came out of some sort of... white box.

[Well. Er. That's...helpful?]

I'm learnin' there's a lot of overlap there.

[Castor gets up on her tiptoes to see if she can see what Vax is talking about but eventually shrugs.]

Could just be how the merchant ships it. Never paid much attention, myself.

Hell if I know.

[He shrugs his shoulders slightly.]

I noticed the overlap. Lots that seems familiar, at least in the basics. Seems like everyone feels that, a little. Some more than most.

Aye. Almost everythin' I've run into here has been like enough to home to make the rest of it really disquietin'.


Even the jobs they're advertising are familiar. Well, most of 'em at any rate. Few I've not heard of.

The jobs are familiar to you? Interesting. I thought--well, nothing like that back home. You learn your skills through, er, learning.

More or less; Monks, Dragoons, Ninjas...they all exist where I'm from jus' not like this.

The asterisks are weird, though. Definitely not used to that.

That's the part that surprised me most. A lot of this shit existed on Exandria, but it took years to learn.

Fuck, I spent most of my life learning to be something like a ninja.
