What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as non-crazy less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

( They had Rikku at goggles and waivers.

She delved into alchemy at a very young age, but all Al Bhed do. Seeing the curiosity, the intrigue, and the mixing atmosphere of the Chemists at work; she brightens at the mere sight. )

Finally: my kinda environment!

( ...although, the random rants from those she has never met is what's keeping her from total familiarity. Seriously, what the heck? )



b. Safer Osu, Berserker's guild
"if something bad happens, don't blame me!"

( Note to self: dress warmer next time.

The snaps and cracks of heavy things breaking is kind of like music to Rikku's ears. The Berserker job was one of her favourite Shinra inventions, because sometimes, you just have to go wild. And Rikku's all about embracing one's wild side. )

Ooooo, this is something I can sink my teeth into! ( so to speak. )

[righthandstand]

[Okuyasu has no intention of taking the Berserker Asterisk, but he has many plans for the protein-filled snacks the Guild provides for those in attendance. He stands beside Rikku with a piece of jerky in his hand.]

Holy shit, those guys are strong.

[Breaking shit with your bare hands is impressive in a different way than erasing it from existence with a supernatural Hand.]

Tell me about it! I wanna learn to-- ( she faces him, noticing the snack right away. Her stomach growls at the smell. )

Heeeeeey, where'd you get that?

[righthandstand]

[He takes a bite and points down the hallway where the entrance lies.]

They're handin' out food where they got all these diagrams and shit.

[There may not be much left, but he doesn't feel like he knows her well enough to warn her.]

Aw, crud, I totally zoomed passed that!

( She leans on one hip, resting her finger on her chin )

Do they have sweets? I think I need sweets.

[righthandstand]

Donuts!

[This is far more important that Rikku getting her asterisk.]

They even got this kind with bacon on the frosting. Pretty weird, huh?

WHAT.

( Far more important, indeed. )

Holy cow! We've gotta head back there!

( What even are introductions )

[righthandstand]

[Okuyasu stuffs the remaining jerky in his mouth and follows Rikku to the tables. There are a few volunteers chatting and taking some of the healthy snacks for themselves, with a few looking guilty when they see two possible initiates run over.

Fortunately, there are three bacon donuts left, but the lame ones without frosting are the most numerous.]

Aaaahahahalright!

( She rubs her hands together as she eyes the weird-but-delicious-looking concoctions. She snags a frosted bacon donut and shoves half of it in her mouth. She squints one eye as she decides on the taste, but it doesn't take long for both of her eyes to widen with pleasant surprise )

Mmmm!!! ( Rikku nods and gives her new friend a thumbs up before flattening her palm as she waits for a high five. Her cheeks are stuffed and pieces of frosting surround her mouth. )

Mhm!!

[righthandstand]

[Okuyasu stands beside the donuts, chewing on the jerky and hooking his thumbs into his belts.]

It's that good?

[But he can't leave her hanging. He gives her a decent high five and eyes the desserts.]

[cidsgirl]

( She gives the overflow of food in her mouth a hard swallow before nodding away )

Sure is!

( She eyes the rest of the donut in her hand, ready to chomp it away like an animal, taking no prisoners. )

Hey, where do I sign up? ( She isn't paying attention to anything, don't mind her. )

I feel like I could get a little wild with this Job!

[righthandstand]

[The volunteers step up and hand a sturdy clipboard to Rikku as Okuyasu takes one bacon donut and hast a bite. It's weird. The fat and the sugar make for an unusual combination. It's not so bad, but it's not the amazing pastry he'd see in magazines. It's an experience worth remembering, however.]

They got the most food, that's for sure.

[He'll say far away from the Berserker Asterisk. He doesn't want to be given the power to accidentally hurt allies, bu if Rikku is smart enough, she can decide what to do.]

( Rikku takes the clipboard and signs her life away. It... may or may not have some frosting on it once she hands it back. )

Hey, what's your name, anyway?

( She extends a hand, smile included ) I'm Rikku!

( But when she looks at her icing-covered palm, she slowly brings it back )

Getting... kinda wild already, heh.

[righthandstand]

[Handshakes are a Western thing, Okuyasu pauses when Rikku attempts one, only to be deterred by her sticky fingers.]

Uh...I'm Okuyasu. [Rikku. It kind of sounds Japanese, but not Japanese at the same time.]

It looks fun as hell. Are you gonna try beating up some stuff?

You bet!

( she pats her stomach ) Right after this bad boy settles. How about you, Okuyasu? You interested in Berserker?

[righthandstand]

Nah, it's...not my thing.

[The part about breaking shit out of rage hits a bit too close for him.]

I wanna punch things, only better. That's why I'm an Illusionist, too.

[cidsgirl]

Ah. So... punch: good, wild: bad. Gotcha.

( she lifts the side of her index finger and touches it to her chin ) Illusionist sounds kinda neat though. What kind of weapons are we talkin' for that one?

[righthandstand]

They use staffs, but all I wanna do is float around and teleport. [He beats a fist into a palm.] They'll never see me comin'!

[ Their guild isn't the most... welcoming of places, and being aware of that, Lean doesn't expect to see many newcomers grace the halls with their presence - which is why it's so easy to spot Rikku as soon as she walks in. Sure enough, his guild mates are similarly quick to flock around the girl like crows, eager to share every detail of their painful lives, so he feels it's necessary to rescue the unknowing guest - by dragging her away under the pretense of showing the expositions - before she completely changes her mind. ]

Don't be alarmed, it's usually much quieter around here. Do you need any help?

Hiya!

( She is feeling pretty happy about this little rescue. )

Phew, thanks. Thought I was done for back there.

( She extends a hand, chipper as ever )

I'm Rikku! I am willing to accept any and all of the help I can get. This place is neat! Where do we start?

[piume]

That's just for today. Most of the time, people here are just too busy to care.

[ Lean doesn't even try to match her level of excitement - he's not sure if he would be capable of that - but he awkwardly exchanges the handshake. ]

Lean. [ A small nod. ] I could show you around before you make any decisions. The guild masters don't take Asterisk changes lightly, so commitment is important.

[cidsgirl]

Right-O.

( She makes a fist prompted by her determination )

I've got tons of experience mixing items around, watching things explode and... coming across the odd dud here and there.

It's kinda my niche~

[ As much as you genuinely wants to believe in their newest recruit, the mention of explosives does make him pause for a moment. Caution is an underestimated trait among Chemists, so he needs to make sure Rikku realises there's a bit more to it than making things go boom. ]

Do you happen to be familiar with healing potions? It's our primary subject of research, you see... many seem to forget that.

[ And as if right on cue, he's interrupted by a sound akin to a firework going off coming from a nearby table. ]

[cidsgirl]

( Rikku doesn't get the chance to answer, but, like, who cares with all of the excitement going on? She spins around to face where the sound came from, but the vicinity is clouded with smoke. )

Aw, man! ( She turns to Lean with a mischievous grin. ) Someone's in troooouble, huh?

[piume]

Oh, I wouldn't be so sure.

[ Just because he knows how it usually goes from there. As soon as the smoke clears, there's nobody to be seen behind the station - the unfortunate Chemist probably didn't fancy being caught red-handed and ran off before anybody could see. As he's come to realise after all those years of living in the town, proud Ariteans would rather die than admit their mistakes, if his time at the university is anything to judge by. ]

Just what I thought. Well. [ He turns back to Rikku, motioning towards a large door in the far back. ] Maybe let's move to the garden while they clean things up.
