Event || Worldwide Tourists

Who: All New Arrivals and Curti Center Staff
When: April 15th-30th
Where: All over Vaikuntha, starting outside of the airship hanger
What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.
Warnings/Notes: Guild prompts can be found here

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as non-crazy less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

Questions for Ganeshan can be directed to the Ganeshan top level post.]

Connie shouldn't worry about it. There is a lesson in this. Most of this lecture isn't really all that difficult to grasp. For a teen that had figured out the nuances of his Geass through experimentation alone all of this seems rather basic.

"You can write all the notes you want, but they are useless when it comes to practical application," he explains when the lecture winds down. "You're not going to have time to look them over in the middle of a battle when lives are on the line."

In other words theories are good and plans are excellent, but theories might not pan out. Plans never go the way one might expect.

That wasn't anything Connie didn't already know, of course. But the fact that Lelouch had decided to remind her of it was touching, in its own weird way. If also a touch condescending. "'No plan survives first contact with the enemy.'" "Connie, I'm sorry!" rang Steven's voice in her mind.

"...or even your allies," Connie admits. "Trust me, I learned that lesson the hard way. Still, my teacher was only just starting to teach tactics to me when I woke up on the ship. I was putting all that down so I can memorize and modify the principles for future use whenever they'd be applicable. Plans may be thwarted, but having more tools at your disposal when improvisation is called for never hurts. I'm also not all that familiar with magic, so I decided to write down the incantations and gestures for in-depth analysis later."

"Unless you know your enemy," he replies in kind. "And allies."

His plan had been on a rather grand scale. Many things could have gone awry, but they didn't. Lelouch had known his family and what actions they would take well. On the other side, he had known full well what his own allies had been capable of. The only misstep had been Nunnally. In the end, even that hadn't been enough to stop him.

"If you're already thinking ahead then about half of these notes aren't really of any use. There is such a thing as too much information. There are times where having more 'tools' is a flaw and not a strength."

There has to be a balance of instinct, trust in others, a willingness to do what must be done, and knowledge. Most of that can't be learned by listening to someone who is up there talking it up instead of being realistic. He hands back the notebook anyway. Lelouch doesn't have any intention to keep it.

"What incantations you're missing I can fill in and whatever they have to teach you about tactics, I can do better."

I'm assuming that they exchanged names at some point in the Curti Center thread

Connie appraises Lelouch, eyebrow raised. Her certainly seemed to know what he was talking about, but there was a hint of arrogance in his voice. Then again, arrogance can very well come from a place of true superiority, as insufferable as it could be. And Connie would be the first to admit that she still had a lot to learn. If Lelouch was offering to be her teacher, who would she be to refuse. Still, Connie needed more information before she felt comfortable committing.

"...alright. I'm listening. But before I agree, I need to know: what exactly did you accomplish on your home world to make you such an expert? And how? You don't need to go into details, but you have to convince me that you're the master strategist and tactician that you claim to be before I become your pupil, Lelouch. I can only learn if you have some worthwhile things to teach, after all."

Yeah I imagine so

Connie isn't wrong to think Lelouch sounds arrogant. He does. Lelouch doesn't see it but that's how it goes with those with that personality flaw. There are times where he plays it up, but right now isn't one of those moments. However, the question is a difficult one to answer. Lelouch could just tell the truth, but ha. Like he's going to do something like that.

"Military adviser," he decides to answer. "Though my greatest achievement would be defeating my eldest living brother. I prerecorded a conversation and fooled him into believing I was speaking to him in real time. He didn't even realize it until I came up behind him."

Both are true, to a degree. Connie doesn't need to know the particulars. Lelouch is a terrorist. A cruel man who plays with peoples' lives and lies to everyone around him. He had been a military adviser under Charles' Geass. It had been short-lived, as Lelouch had managed to find himself again. The victory against Schneizel also had been a battle for the world. Lelouch had won everything.

Now that was impressive. The kind of preparation, manipulation, intuition, and knowledge required for that kind of ploy was staggering, not to mention the sheer guts you'd have to have in order to even attempt such an insane scheme. Perhaps Lelouch really could teach Connie his ways. Of course, his motives were suspect--why would he even decide to teach some random, young nerd that he crossed paths with once at the Curti Center?--but Connie would just need to remember to keep an eye out.

Connie nods and extends her hand. "Color me impressed. You've convinced me, Lelouch. It'll be a... pleasure to learn under you."
