What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as non-crazy less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

[...Well then. That's a rather extreme reaction to the Freelancer job, but given what Jade saw and read of it, he finds himself unable to blame Ganeshan for such an outlook, really. Such blessings seem best maximized, after all.]

I see. While I believe it would be wise not to underestimate the potency of people's rock throwing skills, that aside... why is the Freelancer institution allowed to exist, if it promotes such degenerate values?

BECAUSE IT IS NOT RIGHT TO ABANDON THOSE THAT CANNOT TAKE ASTERISKS, NOR TO FORCE JOBS UPON THE UNWILLING. NO MATTER WHAT I PERSONALLY FEEL ABOUT THOSE WHO PICK THIS LIFE, IT IS NOT MY PLACE TO DENY THEM THEIR CHOICE.

[Though other native Vaikunthans do not share Ganeshan's exuberant love of Jobs and strong feelings about those without them, they are also willing to support the Center For Those Who Cannot Use Jobs for reasons of their own. The Zora man cannot speak for everyone.]

[That certainly is a lot of freedom afforded to these guilds. Now with his curiosity in that regard satisfied, Jade moves on to a line of questioning whose answer interests him more, quite decided on leaving Ganeshan to his own devices once he's gotten a sufficient answer in that regard.]

That aside, what do you think of a Red Mage active combined with a Dragoon passive?

AH, WHAT A WONDERFUL COMBINATION! DRAGOON COULD HELP BOOST THE MEDIOCRE ATTACK OR SPEED OF THE RED MAGE, AND WHEN YOU LEARN ITS DRAGON SIGHT, ENEMIES WILL HAVE A HARD TIME SNEAKING UP ON YOU! YOU'LL BE VERY VERSATILE. IT'S A GOOD CHOICE IF YOU WANT TO BE SELF-RELIANT IN COMBAT.

[It's ok to leave once you have what you want. Ganeshan is just honored to be a part of this joyous job journey in whatever way he can.]

[Jade nods, impressed. While Jade feels Ganeshan might say that for each class combination that doesn't involve a Freelancer, he does see the merit in that assessment, especially when it jives well and confirms his own, plus even adds to it. Ganeshan's lack of an indoor voice, at the very least, doesn't seem like it's compensating for a lack in certain other areas--or so Jade surmises and hopes.]

Thank you for your thoughtful assessment. I have one last set of questions--which among the magically-inclined classes are best at maximizing their magical power, and is there any class among them which is on par with the Red Mage's versatility?

NONE OF THE OTHER MAGES CLASSES HAVE QUITE THE SAME VERSATILITY AS THE RED MAGE. GEOMANCER IS THE NEXT CLOSEST TO A MAGE WITH DECENT ATTACK. THE REST HAVE GREATER MAGICAL POTENCY, BUT SACRIFICE A COMBINATION OF SPEED, PHYSICAL ATTACK, AND DEFENSE. BUT IF YOU WISH TO INCREASE THE RED MAGE'S MAGICAL PROWESS, HAVING A PASSIVE MAGE JOB CAN HELP BOOST IT.

[Have any questions about the stat-stacking of active and passive jobs? Ganeshan is so happy to explain it, loudly and thoroughly, for as long asmuch longer than needed.]

I see. That certainly sounds like the way to go.

[Thankfully for Jade and possibly the surrounding passerby's eardrums, he finds his research on that matter more than sufficient, and has no need for elaboration as of press time. For now, the confirmation of some of his ideas is more than enough, and he could see many others who seem to wish to vie for Ganeshan's loud-mouthed expertise.
