Who: All New Arrivals and Curti Center Staff
When: April 15th-30th
Where: All over Vaikuntha, starting outside of the airship hanger
What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as ~~non-crazy~~ less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

[There is nothing more exciting than chocobos.]

Yeah because they're going to give me a chocobo! It's like my biggest dream!

[He doesn't care if that sounds sad, who doesn't want a chocobo?]

That's yer biggest dream?

[Reno had to smile as he asked. It seemed so simple, and yet... Maybe that was a good thing. He couldn't bring himself to judge. Back on Gaia, chocobos weren't exactly rare, but they were nowhere near the cities. Reno imagined most people hadn't seen a real chocobo, especially not in the slums. Not until Meteor had destroyed so many borders, and even then...]

I'm glad yer gettin' one, then. They're pretty amazing birds.

[Reno had always been a city boy, more familiar and comfortable with machinery over animals. But chocobos had an intelligence and an empathy that even he recognized. He might not feel the most comfortable riding one, but he had to respect them.]

It's great right?

[He grins, simple, yeah, but he's kind of a simple guy under it all. He's not a noble, he's not that guy who's had much and growing up all he wanted was to see a chocobo, and now that he's seen them? He wants one. If everything had gone well and they made it back, he could have gone to live on Wiz's ranch. It would've been amazing.

His life isn't meant to go that way, so he'll take the enthusiastic pleasure where he can.]

I want to ride my chocobo all day~

[He can't help himself from singing.]

I know they're the best birds ever. They're so docile, and fluffy. [Pet a chocobo Reno. Pet one. Fall in love, it's amazing fun.]

Docile?

[Reno couldn't help a laugh. Perhaps those at the farm had been. But like any wild animal, chocobos packed quite a kick when they felt cornered.]

You ever seen one attack before? They can be pretty driven.

But they are fluffy, I'll give ya that.

Of course I have!

[He knows how tough they are. Tough and fluffy are not mutually exclusive. He wouldn't dream of underestimating his bird.]

They're amazing birds. And my favourite animal of all time! I finally got to see one for real this year.

[Don't get him started Reno, he's a real chocofanatic.]

This is really the first time you've ever seen a real chocobo? Ever? For real?

[It made Reno wonder if Prompto had lived in a slum like the sectors under the Plate of Midgar. He wondered what else Prompto might have missed out on in his young life. In a selfish way, it made Reno wonder what his life might have been like if he hadn't gotten out through Shinra so young.]

Not here, but when Noct stopped at Wiz's chocobo post I finally got to see them! It was so exciting! They're way fluffier than I imagined!

[He didn't live in a slum, but he did live in a big city without chocobos and he hadn't left before their road trip.He had missed out on a lot of things, but he was okay with that, for the most part. He didn't really know what he was missing right?]

Chocobo post? Is that like... Did Wiz raise 'em there or something?

[It sounded like the chocobo farm out in the countryside of Gaia -- somewhere domesticated chocobos could be found, touched, rented or ridden.]

[Hesitantly, he reached for one of the birds. Reno was never one to be outwardly affectionate toward them -- they were a little intimidating, in comparison to reliable machinery -- but seeing how excited Prompto was made him curious. He'd always heard that they could judge a person's character, sense if someone was a good person. On Gaia, Reno was decidedly not a good person. So he was wary, to say the least.]

Yeah, that's right! He raises them there and looks after them and we got to rent them and ride them and it was amazing.

[It was the best part of the trip by far, a bright spot in a miserable journey.

If the chocobo doesn't like Reno, he'll placate it, but it should, why wouldn't it?]

Sorry, I just uh, really like chocobos.

[The bird watched Reno just as warily as Reno watched the bird, uncertain about his hesitance. But it was Reno's response to Prompto that seemed to make the difference.]

[Reno looked at him with some surprise and shook his head.]

Why are you apologizing? Don't apologize.

Never apologize for what you like or for goin' after it, yo. Yer allowed to like stuff.

[Apparently assuaged by the redhead's support of the human fluff -- or finally bored of waiting for a pet that was not readily coming -- the chocobo pressed its forehead into Reno's hand. The Turk was naturally surprised and didn't move, but as the relief set in he began to gently stroke its feathers.]

[He grins brightly at the bird and hugs it around its neck because Prompto likes to do it, running his fingers through the soft feathers. He's never run into a bird that didn't mind being hugged by him.]

It's my favourite thing actually, chocobos.

[He nuzzles the bird eagerly.]

I just, um, I'm not good at talking to people? [Does that make sense?]

And...well. [He swallows.] Sorry, I'm nervous.

[Reno smiled, understanding perfectly.]

Sometimes animals are better than people.

[Sometimes people were awful. A lot of the time. Animals were innocent, and therefore much less disappointing.]

Would it be better if I left? I don't wanna make you uncomfortable. Just wanted t' check in, make sure you were doin' alright.

[There are definitely some people who are incredibly awful and he can do without them.]

Oh n-no no. Sorry. [He flails a little bit at Reno.]

It's not you. It's me. I'm just...like this. [He runs his hands through his hair.]

[Reno smiled and let him flail. Reno had always been rather straightforward, confident, brash... but he'd needed to be. So meeting someone so delightfully clumsy was refreshing. It was nice to feel that Prompto was comfortable enough to show it.]

Cute?

[He suggested that instead of what Prompto was probably insinuating: awkward.]

Don't worry about it. Ah -- [He looked over his shoulder where Johnny was finishing up.] Actually I do have to head out -- but I'm glad I ran into you. I'll try to do it on purpose next time.

[He grinned.]

I'm n-not-!

[He stammered a little bit, blushing bright red. He did mean awkward, nervous and a complete mess. Cute was not in his vocabulary.]

Yeah, uh, yeah okay. Bye!

[He waves cheerfully enough as Reno leaves.]
