Who: All New Arrivals and Curti Center Staff

Where: All over Vaikuntha, starting outside of the airship hanger
What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as ~~non-crazy~~ less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

[ She appreciates that bit of discretion, she really does. ]

Oh!

[ Well dang though, he's one of the people that she definitely was hoping to meet at some point or another. For a multitude of reasons, really, but. Well, this was definitely one of them. ]

Guess it makes sense we'd both be here then. Any luck?

[ She's guessing about as much as she's had, given his greeting. ]

[He chuckles, offering a faint smile. He can't help it; the realization on her face amuses him a bit.]

Not really. Found something on a few of the eidolons here, but nothing on the legends.

[There's still plenty of books in here, though, and he's no quitter.]

[ And neither is she. ]

Me either. Ugh, you'd think world creation myths and folklore would be pretty standard stuff to have on hand.

[ Pulling out her tablet, she pulls up her datalog on her progress - leads she's working on, notes from everything that's been said and seen thus far, things like that, until she's able to get to areas she's checked thus far without success. ]

Here's the spots I've checked so far. ...I've been wondering if it'd be worth it to even see if they'd have something like it in like... kids stories.

[ Seemed about as likely as anywhere else at this point. "Where the world comes from" seemed like a common story kids might learn, right? ]

Exactly. But then, this isn't the first time I've seen books like this conspicuously absent.

[He remembers the first library he ever visited; it's where he came up with his own name. This one, though...]

'Least they didn't make it obvious. Might be someone checked most of them out.

[Though he can't help but admit he's curious, he doesn't look until she makes it obvious it's fine to look at the screen. Dang, girl. You've looked hard at this stuff already.]

Makes 'bout as much sense as anything else here. I'll finish this section and meet you there?

[ Yeah, she'll let him have a look. Given how much info he's provided already, there's other things he might be able to provide insight on. It' pretty clear though, this is not exactly her first rodeo when it comes to in-depth investigations. Nor, she's taking a guess here but she's pretty confident in it, is it his. ]

Yeah, I'll be there.

[ And so she will be, crouched down and frowining at some of the spines of book as she reads them over. Thankfully she's a pretty fast reader with good memory too. There's a couple books on the ground beside her, set aside for more in-depth perusal in a bit. ]

[He doesn't automatically see anything that jumps out at him, but he will admit to be curious about a couple titles.

Well good, because then he'll have a small pile from the aisle he'd been looking at when they first bumped into each other. And, seeing that vibrant orange-red hair, he goes to crouch down beside her.]

Anything promising?

[He asks, placing the books down beside the ones she'd already placed on the floor.]

A couple things, maybe.

[ A shift through her books will reveal ones like Our World and other Stories and Heroes and Heroines, stuff like that. Also a couple of thicker volumes she wanted to check the table of contents of later. ]

Nothing obvious though.

[He takes a few quick looks through the small pile, before joining her in looking at the shelves. A cursory look at the ones he found would reveal Legends of the Stars and one other whose spine was so worn the letters no longer shown legibly. It stood out to him, so he was curious.]

Same here. [He sighs with a hint of annoyance, but... it's something. That books with these titles even exist.]

[ She glances over at his pile and... ]

If it's that one without a title I'm gonna be so mad at how cliche that is.

[ So clearly that means they should look at it first. ]

I know, right? That or some long forgotten tome on the destructive spells of old. Either one.

[He holds it out to her, while looking at the Heroes and Heroines book. In the titleless one, the pages are so yellow it's probably hella old. And yet, it's just more eidolons. Most of which are hard to read beyond their names on some pages.]

[ She takes the book, flicking through the pages. Admittedly, Eidolons weren't something she'd done much looking into, yet. ]

These are those things that Summoners use, right?

[Futaba and him both. Though it might be something for a later date.]

Yeah. Tch, even the same names for some back on Crystallis.

[He checks the next book in the pile, Legends of the Stars, but skimming through it reveals nothing of value. Bummer.]

Huh, really? Which ones?

[ Said as she pulls out her tablet. Not gonna let herself get too sidetracked now but if she just jots down a note really quick she can look into it later. ]

Now, I wasn't a summoner back in Crystallis, but I remember hearing the names of Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, and Chocomog in battle. Never heard of Ultros, Typhoon, or Titan before though.

[It's definitely something to look into later.]

Huh...

[ She takes a moment to jot down the names. Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, Chocomog. She has a guess about that last one but eh. Also making a note that not all of the eidolons seem to have carried over, since that seemed kind of weird. Anyway. ]

All right! Next book.

[ And so she'll be grabbing Our World and Other Stories, picking it up and flipping to the beginning to look for the table of contents. ]

[The table of contents gives them the first big clue since their search began.

III. The End and Beginning.

Flipping to the page in question will lead her to finding the passage they've been searching for: the words etched on the page likely bringing back the memory of the images she was given by that little girl.

Ira raises an eyebrow.] Futaba-chan?

[Don't mind him, peeking at what she's looking at.]

[ Hearing her own name shakes her out of the brief shock seeing the very story they'd been looking for put her in. She's also surprised to hear the correct honorific but that's an aside.

Instead she just shifts the book over, enough that they both can look over it. ]

Think I've got it.

[ She's also reaching over to grab her tablet because you better believe if it's short enough to be in a children's book she's going to be transcribing it wholesale for later review. ]

[His adoptive parents are gods. It would be weird if some of the culture didn't rub off on him. Even if they never really got to mention much of it on Crystallis.

He looks over, his eyes widening.]

...And they thought my story was weird. Despite glossing over part of what was said here.

[He shakes his head. Those center workers, what was even going through their heads?]

So what, do they just...not know their own creation myth?
This... this matches up with what you told us almost exactly.

[ In that vague mythological kind of way. Her estimation of the Curti Center employees is continuing to plummet, unfortunately for them. ]

I don't know. [He says, realizing his own opinions on them are slowly declining as well.] Granted I don't know my own world's creation myth, but...

[He sighs, shaking his head before copying it on his own device as well - along with the book title and author.]

We found what we're looking for, at least.

Definitely.

[ She sighs, tapping away as she goes through each page. ]

I guess the question now is... what does it mean for... whatever's going on here.

[ Ashelia, the Dream Width, why they turned up here... ]

[He nods, tapping away as well. Almost preternaturally fast, as if collecting data is second nature to him. Even though it leaves him feeling uneasy. The question makes him pause, though.]

...Not sure, but we'll find out.

[Somehow. Somehow, they will. Just like they did for Crystallis. There are answers out there, somewhere.]
