Where: All over Vaikuntha, starting outside of the airship hanger
What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as ~~non-crazy~~ less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

She does and is surprised at how smooth he is with that motion.

"You've done this before, haven't you?"

She'd be flattered if she wasn't so wary.

Reno winked. "Maybe once or twice. Ish. But who's counting?"

Flirting like this was just a game. It meant nothing. Surely Makoto could realize that, with such an age gap between them. Or, if she didn't... well, how endearing and cute would that be? So naive, so innocent. Once Reno would have thought that was foolish, but he'd find it refreshing now. The world could probably use a little more good faith like that.

He straightened again and watched the ninjas finish their demonstration and scatter, applauding with the others when it was over. "You sold?" he asked with a smile. "Or gonna keep your options open 'til the end?"

Yeeah no. Especially considering the world that she's from and the actions of some... rather gross adults, her opinion of Reno took a bit of a hit. Not enough for her to get full into his face, but enough that she'd want to keep an eye on him.

"Well... I will probably keep it as an option, but I think I will stick to something I have actual training in: martial arts." Still, they were impressive. She could definitely see the ninja skills being helpful when covert movement was necessary. "Yourself? This job seems very far removed from a private investigator. In terms of skill if not in intent."

Had Reno known, he wouldn't even have joked about it. Hopefully he'll be able to fix the situation... if he ever finds out.

For the moment, he answered honestly and echoed her. "Well. Thought I'd stick to something I have actual training in." Being a Turk wasn't much different and Reno wanted to keep those skills fresh. Especially for what he planned to do on Vaikuntha.

"But if you have suggestions for what you think would be more fitting, I'm curious to hear 'em."

"Funny thing, that. I can't imagine that running up walls would be part of your skill set." She was still ruffling, but the question wasn't a terrible one. Hoping to give him a satisfactory answer (and because it was an interesting challenge), she opened up her book that has been blackened with numerous notes and marks.

She takes a moment to peruse its contents, flipping back and forth to find something that seemed relevant. "Well, there's Gunslinger and Tactician, for one..."

Reno chuckled. "Oh, I've done it. Ninja just makes it so much easier. Used to be private security, at home." Not exactly a lie. "Decided to change it up here, that's all. But I like to stay sharp, just in case."

He cocked his head to the side as he considered her suggestions. "Gunslinger... I see the appeal, an' I know the asterisk itself would improve my aim. But it seemed more of my boss' thing, y'know? I've always been more a' the up close an' personal type. Tactician, though..."

That was intriguing. It was more of a leadership position, not so much a front lines fighter. But... is that what he would be from now on? As leader of the Assassins here, should he take a safer role instead of jumping headlong into danger?

"Maybe. It's worth considering."

"All the jobs have their own advantages, so its a matter of putting their skill set to what you want to do." She stated the obvious, still trying to get a measure of Reno. Some of the things he was saying felt a little... odd. But worse she couldn't exactly get a reason why. Still with the way this conversation had gone there was some definite flags and her father always taught her to trust her gut.

"You have a boss? I thought that private investigators have the benefit of working on their own. Or was that just how things are in pulp novels?" Though she was not quick to admit it, she always liked a good detective series... and some of the bad ones, too.

"Back at home," he clarified. "I used ta' work for a major energy company. My department worked with a lot of freedom, so I've done a bit of everything -- investigations, security, talent scouting, 'fetch quest' kinda stuff. My direct superior an' the company president were both gun people, a couple other people were gun people..."

He shrugged. "I mean, I can shoot, but it wasn't really my style. So, yeah, being here without any company or constraints? Private investigator is my new gig."

"Of course, if you know anyone who would want a bodyguard -- yourself included -- I'm still open to other opportunities."

That... was more than she was expecting. It definitely answered a few of her questions about how... mercenary... he felt. Such a person could potentially be dangerous... or a valuable asset. Depending on which side she would find herself with him.

"I think I understand." She finally stated, quite surprised that the conversation has gotten to this point. "Thank you for the offer, but I'm not sure I would be able to afford you just yet. We did get here, after all."

"And thank you. You have been very helpful in making some decisions for me. While I don't know if I can employ you, perhaps we may find ourselves in a situation where we would work together? You do seem like quite the capable professional." While she certainly would want to keep tabs on what he's doing, his response to that would put to rest some of the worries of how Reno operated.

Reno chuckled. "It's not like I can make many demands. We just got here. No one knows who the hell I am."

But he smiled that she would consider it. He had good intuition about her. "I think I'd like that," he said with a courteous nod. "You seem to have a good head on yer shoulders. I'm lookin' forward to seein' what you do."
