Enter the Master
[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.
An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]
"WELCOME!"
[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]
"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."
[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]
"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"
[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve asnon-crazy less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World
[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!
Questions for Ganeshan can be directed to the Ganeshan top level post.]

Kanji | OTA
[He'd reluctantly parted ways with his friend, but he was sure she'd be fine so long as she stuck with the rest of the group heading for the Gunslinger Guild. For now, however, he was more than a little curious about ninja stuff. In truth, it kinda reminded him of some of the old TV shows he used to watch. Besides, how cool would it be to be a ninja?
One absolute shit-spooking from him later when the building went from empty to full of smoke, fire and parkour later, the folks here seemed friendly if a bit surprised to see someone like him interested in stealth and agility.
And really, psh, Yosuke-senpai's clumsy ass can do it. So he can, too, right?]
Hyaah! ...Fuck!
Language, brute! Now try again, kupopo!
[Okay, so he can't even reach the targets yet with his throwing knives. But he sure as hell is trying! Maybe once he gets the Asterisk he'll improve, but this whole trip was to try some stuff out. He wasn't gonna pass that up.]
[Safer Osu- Berserker's Guild]
[He didn't think a Guild could pump him up, but here he was, watching as a bunch of these men and women completely destroy everything in their path while tapping into something deep and angry. He knew he could fly off the handle sometimes, but to put it to good use sounded mighty useful. He liked the prospect of 'tanks' too, folks who protected their friends from harm by putting their whole selves on the line.
Just like back home. He liked that.
With pen in hand, he was happy to sign himself up and get that first Asterisk. Soon he was sending wood splinters and cotton stuffing flying, all while Guild members nod in appreciation:
"Huh, he's a natural."
"Or maybe he was just an angry kid. Either way, natural. Oh- oh $#!+, there's nothing left of that dummy... hey, can we get Tippie out here, please?"
Fifteen minutes after the destruction, Kanji is sitting in a corner corner, arms full of a little white terrier that is licking his face and wagging that tail. Tippie was the very best dog, and Kanji couldn't be happier. What was happening again? Were they getting Asterisks?]
[Von Oktavia- Paladin's Guild]
OW- god damn it-
[Okay, he was way too tall for this stupid place! But he had a tour to finish, and he'd do it properly. After passing by the, uh... emo kids... he managed to find the guild of paladins, and is kind of impressed if not a bit weirded out by how orderly they were.
He liked to keep his stuff neat and tidy for the most part, but sheesh.
Yet he couldn't shake just how honest they were. They seemed like they wanted to do some good, and he wanted to do some good as well. Though there were remarks about his scar, he found himself jotting his name down on the paperwork and requesting a few lessons. Two tank classes might seem a bit much, but what the hell else did he know? Heck, they could heal a little, too. That'll definitely come in handy.
But for now he needed to sit a couple of things out and just rub his tender noggin. How many doorways did he bang into now? He'd lost count. And brain cells.]
Ow ow ow...
Safer Osu
[That had certainly been a... display. It almost didn't seem like he would stop. In fact, the other Guild members held them back until they gave him time with Tippie.]

Like a million yen! I didn't know therapy dogs worked for berserkers, holy shit!
no subject
That's good. You had everyone worried.
no subject
Worried? Why? I thought I did everything the class taught me: Get mad and kick some ass.

Or, at least hold it. It's a bit unsettling not having his previous speed but this looked like something that could replace it.
With how many visitors there are, he took turns on the target with another guy who looked eager but... the subtlety element was lacking. After watching him not even reaching the target, Ignis finally takes some mercy on him.]
Keep the knife slightly above the target to compensate for the gravity and relax your wrist.
no subject
Kanji's eyes were dodging the new face that appeared, out of a small, stubborn shame. He raised his hand and flopped the wrist, trying to demonstrate a bit before committing to the next toss.]
Wh-what's that mean, like... relax it all the way, or...? Do I make it spin? How's it stay straight?
no subject
It is a balance one has to find in their grip. Too lax and you will drop the blade. Too firm and you won't be able to properly aim.
Try again. Practice makes perfect.
no subject
Shoulders. Feet. He extended his arm, raised slightly, and drew it back. Here goes...]
Okay, let's go-
[Thnk. It embedded shallowly, enough that it drooped, but it remained on the target. Kanji's eyes brightened.]
Wha- HELL YEAH! Holy crap!
no subject
-it usually ends up with positive results, like the guy just demonstrated. Ignis crosses his hands with a somewhat satisfied smirk.]
Good job. You sound surprised. [He followed the instructions dutifully. The only thing left is practice.
Ignis picks up a knife for himself.]

[The man standing next to her seemed to be having some trouble, though. At the exclamation, Makoto's focus was broken just enough for her to be completely off the mark. At first she was annoyed, but she was more upset at the lack of direction he was getting. How was he going to learn that way.]
[While not normally in her nature, Makoto let out an audible grunt of frustration. She then turned to the moogle that was "instructing" the young boy.]
Excuse me. I think I have the grip, but I don't know if I have the follow through memorized just yet. [When she got the moogle's attention she would add.] Would it be possible if I were to have such a masterful expert to show me how its done?
no subject
Someone who actually asks questions, kupopo! When I throw my fans, it's like this...
[She took Makoto's hand, placed the knife, and moved it forward. But she applied pressure to the wrist to keep it still near the end of the throwing motion.]
Limp wrists will flick the knife and create too much spin, like my brute is doing, kupo! Let the built energy of the throwing motion carry the knife out of the hand, and only lower your arm once you've hit your target to ensure trajectory!
Give it another try, kupo!
no subject
So the key is to make sure that the knife has a firm hand with as little movement in the wrist. That way the shoulder and arm guides the knife, and the fingers determine when its released.
[But before the moogle instructor caught on to what she was doing, she decides to give it another go. Closing her eyes to visualize what she wants, her body snaps into motion. The knife sails like a swallow and sticks into the rim of the outer rim of the target. Room for improvement, certainly, but she was satisfied.]
I think I may need to get to practice the motion and when to release a little more. [She nodded to the moogle.]
no subject
Much better, kupo! Keep practicing, and you'll be a natural in no time!
[Thunk. Though a little lopsided, a knife had embedded in the target. It wasn't accurate by a long shot, but it looked like the boy had stopped tossing knives at the floor.]
H-holy shit, I hit it! I hit the bastard!
no subject
Good job.
[With room for improvement, of course, but she has a feeling the moogle teacher will have no problems pointing out everything he did wrong.]
[So for now she will resume throwing the last three of her remaining knives.]

So when Hunk is guided over to another part of the room with his own precious puppy, he's a bit winded, but grinning ear to ear as a giant Malamute all but knocks him into a beanbag chair. His perception fully grounds into reality, and- ]
This place is the best!
[ Hunk is looking over at Kanji and grinning ear to ear, even as his own ginormous puppy splays itself out across Hunk's stomach. It demands pets, and Hunk can't help but oblige with the happiest of giggles. ]
Free puppies!
no subject
This Guild's the freakin' best, right!?
no subject
I missed puppies so much, you have no idea! [ Hunk's eyes go wide and he starts giggling at his big-puppy's licking, and he stares at his new human friend. ] Maybe we can convince them to let us take one home?
no subject
[No, but really. Maybe if they asked super nicely they could keep the dogs. He was going to miss little Tippie.]

Ninjas!
[There's a clatter as Bonnie's own knife hits the ground, barely traveling far from the moogle. She too hopes the asterisk will help improve her ability. It's hard to get a good windup with little moogle arms.]
Kupooo, I think I'm better at sneak attacks from above...
no subject
[Even if there was a serial murder by a masked moogle... maybe he needed to be worried about these little guys. The moogle at his side gasped.]
Brute! How could you call another moogle cute, kupo!?
...Y'know guilt trips don't work when ya keep callin' me that, right?
no subject
I helped defend a Mognet office once by jumping on top of the robots they sent in after us. Just remember: Letter openers don't make for good stabbing knives. They break pretty easy, kupo.
[With her advice given she waits for the all clear and then hustles to recover her knives and try again.]
no subject
All this stuff about weapons, though... so I used weird things back home, right?
[He readied another set. He'll get this one down!]
I used chairs, desks, and eventually got my hands on shields I could use as weapons. All these Guilds go on n' on about preferred weapons and stuff, but all I can think is, 'Wouldn't we be more effective if we used what we're used to?'
I dunno if you'd know, but: Is it- is it hard to learn how to make weapons, y'think?
(no subject)
Sorry for the backtag, very hungry for threads and CR right now
Still, she winces in sympathetic pain on seeing Kanji's plight. Although Connie was fairly certain which asterisk she would choose as her second, it still paid to check out the various other guilds. The Paladins' Guild's knightly aspirations and conduct made Connie feel right at home. She was fairly certain that Pearl would be comfortable here, too.
...now she's made herself sad again. Anyways, an acquaintance was probably in need of a distraction from the throbbing pain he was obviously experiencing. "I'd ask if you're okay, but you're obviously... not," Connie says. "Mind if I sit down? Back on Earth, it was a lot easier to ignore pain when I had someone to talk to."
