Raise a Glass [OPEN]

Who: The XV Cast and You!
When: June 6th
Where: Curti Center, Jiminy's Juicery (bar)
What: After saving innocents from the Dream Width, some people just need a drink.
Warnings/Notes: Alcohol consumption, possible violence, whatever people do in bars.

Their first foray into the search and rescue business in the Dream Width had been intense, to say the least. Stressful, heartbreaking, exhausting, and enlightening were other words some might use to describe the experience. After a night of rest and a day to somewhat sort things and people out, the next evening brings about a mighty need to head to the local tavern. Some drink to forget, some drink to remember, some drink to relax. There are even representatives of the Bard's Guild providing live music. You can try to make a request, but chances are they don't know your foreign songs.

Maybe you were invited by one of the excitable young men from Lucis, or maybe you came on your own. There's enough room in the bar for quite a few people, so long as they're of age. Sit right at the bar, or pull up chairs around a table, the choice is yours.

"A penny for your thoughts?"

Ignis appears seemingly out of nowhere, two glasses in his hands. He looks collected and composed, which is a stark contrast to what's going inside of his head. And it is probably even worse with Prompto if he had to guess.

He places the drink in front of Prompto then takes a seat next to him, crossing his legs. The gunslinger doesn't have to drink it if he doesn't want to.

He smiled slightly at Ignis and moved his hand to curl his fingers around the glass, lifting it for a sip. He didn't mind, he wanted to drink, he wanted to forget.

"Just thinking...about things." He glanced away briefly.

"That was- I mean, are you okay? You had to see that nightmare." A nightmare that Prompto missed some of because he hid his face.

Drinking won't make the problems magically disappear but, for a moment, it will help them forget about them. They have been through too much in short period of time. And even Ignis has his limits, no matter how much he steels himself.

"Understandable," Ignis nods, taking a sip of his own drink. The scorch of the alcohol is more than welcome.

"I'm-" Ignis' fingers tapped against the table, "...I will be fine." Noct is the one who won't be, he thinks and resists to grit his teeth. "I'm sorry you had to see it. You already had too much on your plate."

It had been a lot for a short time, but Prompto thought he was hanging in there well enough, not the least by what happened before they went out. He was at least, still there, but if nothing else drinking would help him turn his brain off for awhile.

He'd regret it in the morning, but that was future Prompto's problem.

"Oh, it's okay." Prompto shook his head. "I saw a lot of memories."

Noctis' memory was so much worse. His own tormented him, and Ignis'...well he'd skipped part of it.

"I'm just kinda...thinking about my memories."

Ignis wants to prompt him to talk more about the said memories but... he also knows that they are terribly painful for him. There is nothing they can do to change them. Only try to live with them.

"If I knew this memory nebula thing has a high chance of happening, I would've advised you to stay away from going to the mission." Advised- not stopped. There's a difference.

He's silent for a few moments. "If there's anything troubling you, I'm willing to listen."

"Yeah. I didn't know it could." He murmured and took a drink again and shook his head.

"I don't know. Things are but..." Prompto didn't want to cause strife in the house. He was a mediator, and it was bad enough Gladio had gotten involved on his behalf.

"It's okay." He pushed some cheer into his voice. "Nothing to really worry about."

Ignis is not sure what happened after they landed, but Prompto looks really troubled. He could attempt to get to the information through drinks but he's not a scumbag.

"Remember what I told you before?" Ignis asks, trailing circles on the edge of his glass, glancing between his drink and Prompto.

'Don't pull away from people when things are serious, you're not alone'.

"If you really can't talk about it, that's fine. But if you think that you will trouble me by telling me, you're wrong." He finally takes another sip.

"It will cause trouble and I just, it's not worth it." Prompto answered honestly, and looked at the drink again so he didn't have to meet Ignis' eyes.

"It'll be fine." He wasn't entirely sure about that but he wanted to hope for the best.

Whatever it is, it's seriously troubling Prompto. But Ignis is not going to push him to tell him if he can't. Whatever this 'trouble' is, Ignis is sure it could be solved.

"Well, if you are sure then," he finishes off his drink and nods at the waiter to bring over another, "you won't mind having a few drinks with me? Since we're already out here."

"Yeah, of course Iggy." Prompto smiled a little and glanced around warily. He was worried, but he could certainly drink. He finished his.

"You didn't see my memory. That's...that's good." He commented. "Lord Amicitia did."

He sighed, if he hadn't, they could have avoided this.

"I didn't see it because Noct told me he reached you," Ignis says after ordering them another round from the waiter. "He was really worried for you- I'm glad he managed to find you."

But- Lord Clarus also saw the memory? It makes Ignis frown for a moment. He's silent while the waiter places their glasses on the table and then asks.

"Is that what's bothering you? Lord Clarus?"

Prompto nodded slightly, he understood the worry, because he had so few nice memories, it was bound to be a bad one.

"It's not his fault. He saw- he heard how I was made so..." He trailed off slightly. He was being treated as an infiltrated enemy.

"He thinks I'm a threat."

He could see how this would worry Lord Clarus but that is not a reason to instantly accuse anyone for being a threat.

Interesting to see that Ignis' judgment in any of this is thrown out of the window. As well as Gladio's. If Prompto was any kind of threat, Ignis and Gladio would react back in Crown City, years ago.

"With all respects to Lord Clarus," Ignis says while taking a sip of his drink, "that's bullshit."

...he has nothing else to add. And just continues sipping his drink. Okay, maybe he had enough to untie his tongue to swearing. Sorry.

"He saw my memory. It was.." He paused a moment, getting his bearings.

"When I found out what happened. How I was made." Prompto murmured, grimacing. "And so he wanted to know what my motivations were getting close to Noct. He just..." He sighed.

"Yeah. It's bullshit."

Alright, something more happened than just 'talk'. What did Lord Clarus do?!

"He just what?" What did he do? Ignis needs to know so that when the topic is eventually brought up to Ignis, with how things are going, Ignis wants to know all the details.

"Your motivations haven't changed in the slightest ever since you were admitted to Crownsguard. I do not know what else is there to be said."

"They didn't but he thought they'd told me what to do, or someone was or something." Prompto sighed, babbling slightly.

"He demanded to know what happened after and I didn't-couldn't say." He sighed, swallowing thickly.

"I didn't want to tell him. I can't explain torture and what he did and just, it's painful. I didn't want to talk. He was interrogating me. It's fine. It's okay. I mean, I don't want to cause trouble. He's just worried for Noct."

As if Prompto wasn't and he swallowed his drink down faster.

"We are all worried for Noct," Ignis says, leaning back, with a frown on his face, "but this is not the time to be making enemies amongst ourselves."

He sighs, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "I will talk to him- he will eventually seek me out for an opinion. Please, don't let it bother you. We all know who you are and that you mean Noct no harm."

They just need to explain it properly to Clarus.

"Thanks Iggy." He smiles a little brighter, even though the drinking isn't helping his demons stay at bay.

"I know you guys do, I just..." He exhaled.

"Been awhile since I've heard stuff like that." Prompto said. "Rattled me."

He'd heard people whisper, he knew he looked like a Niff, light haired people didn't live in Lucis, generally, but it had been awhile. His friends certainly never said anything like it.

"I can't help where I came from."

Drinking doesn't always help with the demons. Sometimes, drinks bring them out instead of keeping t

"It shouldn't matter, ever, where you come from, but what you do," Ignis says firmly. He, too, wasn't born in the Crown City, but he never let any gossip or side eyes distract him from his purpose.

Which had always been watching over Noctis.

And Ignis knows that Prompto wants to protect him too. That is all that matters to him.

"I hope so." Because he couldn't change his history, he could only hope they kept going forward. He smiled slightly.

"Thanks Iggy. Let's talk about something else. Or drink a lot. That works too."

He doesn't want to worry about things at the moment, he wanted to try and move past it.

Ignis gives him a slight smile too, with a nod, then turns to Ebony.

"Do you mind getting us some drinks? No beer and no carton-packaged wine."

Ebony just tilts head at him for a moment, wondering what's wrong with that type of wine and disappears to go get them drinks.

"How is your asterisks fitting you? Is your accuracy back?"

"It's not as good as it was, but still pretty good." Prompto admitted and smiled a little. "If I concentrate for a moment, my aim is pretty great still but, that's different. I'm used to just..."

He mimed shooting with his finger.

The finger-gun is more than telling to Ignis.

"I know the feeling. I have my spellblades with me but the feeling with them is still not... complete?" He's happy he has them back but without his elemental powers in them, it feels -weird-.

Ebony comes back with two big glasses with what appears to be some type of cocktail. Ebony gets a raised eyebrow from Ignis ('explain) and Ebony explains.

"Bartender's recommendation for the night- wine spiked whiskey with orange. You didn't tell me what you want to drink."

"It's fine, thanks Ebony." Prompto said and took a sip. It was different, but he wasn't really caring what he was putting into his body at the moment. He could care again in the morning.

"It's not the same." Prompto confirmed with a sigh.
