Anniversary Event: Defying Fate

What: The Heroes of Light relive the three days leading to the Apocalypse, again and again. With this come the chance for them to save the world, but also to explore opportunities otherwise out of reach. Will they find a way to save the world and prevent this terrible fate from coming true?

Turning to his boss/student, Adrien took a moment before answering.

"... It's April 8th."

Though, he didn't say 'again' as much as he wanted to, unsure if she would've remembered too. He didn't want to alarm her...

"April... 8th." Okay, the hat was coming off, if anything to fan herself.

"I'm having the strangest feeling of deja vu. Or time rewound. You can never be sure with a place like this, I suppose."

She sighed.

"Or I've overworked. I really should just close the Lady's doors for a bit, free myself up a little more to handle this impending apocalypse. Now, why did you come here, anyway? I'd given everyone some time to be with their friends and family!"

So she was having a feeling of deja vu? Did that mean she remembered? Should he ask? He wasn't really sure.

"Maybe... A-Anything, I came to ask if I could take time off, but if you're going to close Lady of Bliss for a while..." That kind of defeated the point of him making his request. "Also, I guess I might've forgotten about you already saying that..."

"I left tablet messages and placed memos in every mailbox. Still, with everything happening I wagered some would slip through the cracks."

But she paused. Deja vu, dream or not, she had to put something out there.

"I can't help but wonder about Ramaa, the Empress we had dinner with. I'm usually quite skilled at deducing whether someone is full of nonsense or not, but..."

"I was in a bit of a hurry this morning. Arito's... busy."

Putting it lightly like riots weren't going to break out this evening or anything... "... It seems strange, right? Like, was that really her?"

Madhuri stood rigid. Oh, crap. So much for dreaming...!

"So you saw it too! That was reality and the little girl really did send us back!" She plopped the hat back on her head and began to pace.

She sighed. "That didn't seem like it was really her, though. I know eye glamours... that was likely a possession of some sort. That Kalki person, maybe. I left my exorcist in my other pants, however."

"Y-Yeah... I didn't know if you did either."

Rubbing the back of his neck, he watched Madhuri start pacing.

"I don't think any of us are able to do that. Maybe an Eidolon could? If she really is possessed?"

"They theoretically could as deities. The trouble is summoning them, seeing as she had a point; none of the Summoners among us could actually call upon them. But we did find their temples..."

She withdrew her notebook and jotted a few things down.

"Well, let's not squander this newfound chance. If you know of any Summoners, it's high time to contact them and see if we can't revisit those places posthaste. Surely we can appeal to them when the apocalypse is at hand...

Meanwhile, I'll see about stopping the outpouring of despair. I recall word got out fairly quickly before the sky darkened, and one of our biggest obstacles were the attacks upon our persons rather than their aid. We need them to have some sodding faith in us."

"Kind of good we did. If we're repeating everything, I don't think I'd want to repeat waking up the Eidolons on top of everything else happening."

Adrien knew a summoner alright, but he doesn't think she picked up any normal Eidolon either. Also, about that despair...

"We've got a lot to do. Any suggestions on stopping multiple riots?"

"Morale, really. Aid the police forces. Riots only happen when authority loses control. A person is smart, dear, but people are overwhelmingly dumb, and will act like panicky animals when given the chance."

She sighed.

"I should board up the windows. Or, hm, maybe it doesn't matter if we're looping... regardless, I'll check the network and see about maybe heading to the Curti Center posthaste."

"I don't think it's going to be enough..."

By the time he even got to responding among other things... Well, he concentrated on evacuations.

"I don't know. Maybe still board it up. The Lady of Bliss might be useful to some people seeking shelter and it wouldn't be good if it was broken into."

"I suppose. But if we're looping, good gravy, that's going to be multiple trips to the hardware store..."

Madhuri had to go. But before she did so, she placed her hand atop Adrien's head.

"You're a good kid. I'm sure I've told you that a thousand times, but it's true. Take care of yourself. Let's break this chain."

"Huh... I guess that's true. Maybe don't until we figure everything out then."

That might be a while, but one stop shop then.

"... I will. Thanks, Madhuri. You be careful, too."
