I didn't pal around with her, if that's what you mean. That Kalki was one moooooorbid lady! That's not how I like 'em, nuh-uh. I like sweet things, like you.

[He bats his eyelashes at them. It's just as terrible as you imagine.]

But don't worry about me, Hot Stuff! I know to skedaddle when a fight gets too tough! I'll NEVER die!

[The tentacles give the two Heroes' shoulders a squeeze.]

Are you asking if I'm single? Eeeeeeeey? Don't worry, I'm the world's most eligible bachelor!

[In terms of the actual company Ultros keeps, it's basically just Typhon, who's too dumb to have real standards.]

[ ... Wait... ]

Ultros, if-... If what they say is true about Bahamut, do you have a plan in case things go wrong?

"I haven't seen anything that looks like a fairy either. And this forest is pissing me off," Gladio growls. He is not amused by the riddle but commits it to memory anyway - like Ravus says, it could be useful once this stupid rock is gone.

"Let's turn this to dust!" Keeping his blade in its sheath, not wanting to damage it, Gladio swings mightily at the rock with a powerful downward stroke. At least this is something he can take his frustration out on.

A meeting, Locked to Reno/Selphie

The Hilda Garde hovers over an unremarkable patch of ocean, Mojito dutifully holding it steady. Kuja, for his part, has insisted on all iMog slates to be turned off, batteries removed, and put in a box- before being stuck under the engine so as to maximize the amount of noise interference, if indeed the slates are a means of surveillance. He's not an unkind host; lunch is provided, but this is important.

In the cabin of the airship, Kuja takes a seat at the surprisingly-utilitarian table, sighing and pinching the bridge of his nose. "I apologize for the inconvenience, but I absolutely could take no chances on being overheard. By anyone." He inhales, crosses his arms. "Both of you were on Crystallis, yes? I need to know what you know about Garland."

This isn't the first time Serge has seen another him.
Even so, it's a shock, seeing himself standing there, bold as brass- though not quite. The scar's missing. Not quite the Serge from El Nido, either, something subtly... different, about him, though he can't put his finger on him. "Another one," he mutters, under his breath.

"They really don't know when to quit. Great job, everyone." Kohaku sqwaked in protest as she was given little time to move out of the way to avoid getting tased herself. Kenichi gave his chocobo a pat on the beak.

He then grabbed the guard BB-8 tased and hoisted his unconscious body onto Kohaku. "There should be a storage shed we can hide them in nearby."

Once everyone was relocated back to the alley they were in, Kenichi made quick work of getting their uniforms off, passing them to Finn and Okuyasu. "Ugh, when was the last time they washed these? Okay, get dressed. I'll go deal with clean up."

Sure enough, one of the buildings they were hiding behind was a storage unit. Carefully, he removed some of the tools from it. After all, the last thing he'd want was something dangerous to fall on them when they regained consciousness. If parenthood taught him anything, it was how to gently put someone down without waking them up. With some rope, he tied their ankles to a heavy metal pipe. When all three were secured, he placed the heaviest wrench he could find through the double door handles.

"So, how's the fitting going along?" He asked his new partners in crime.

"Better than the last time I stole someone's clothes," Finn sort of grumbled to himself. It was a bit too big in the shoulders, which wouldn't do well for their cover, but they didn't have to do this long.

BB-8 beeped up at Finn.

"No, not that time."

BB-8 beeped again.

"Not that time either-" With a groan and some regret that he was finally grasping binary, Finn looked to the ceiling and pretended he wasn't blushing. "Never mind. We can make this work if it doesn't take too long." Then he turned to the last of their group to see how he was holding up.

As Sephiroth inevitably leaves the chest and approaches the commotion coming from the throne room, he approaches slowly, drinking in as many details as he can from looking around as he does so.

Similarly for the three people; it seems to be a royal pair of some sort? Does it seem they're noticed here or just spectators?

Though initially confused about Serges' apparent-self being there in the scene as well, his adventuring partners muttered comment clarified something in an instant; Serge perhaps is as aware as he himself is, in regards to the existence of alternate realities, the potential for any number of versions of a person. It had been a concept thrust at Sephiroth by his own interest, by Takeshi, pretty early on in this Vaikunthan saga.

"Hm-"

Okuyasu jingled the door knob to the closet several times before thinking of getting the keys and trying every one. Then he tried each again and carefully twisted the knob to see if there was a trick to opening it.

There. Open. Now he could steal the other guy's clothes so he didn't have to use magic to disguise himself. He pulled off his pants, boots, and jacket to wear over his own outfit.

"So where to next? Engine room? The deck?" He waited for Kenichi's orders.

Having complied with Kuja's request to power down her iMog, Selphie settles herself in a seat to his right. Truthfully, the SeeD doesn't know a lot about Garland, but she's willing to provide what little she does know. Her fingers drum on the table briefly before she clears her throat to speak.

She might as well get the conversation started.

"Reno will likely know more than I do about Garland, but I'll share what I know. From what I understand, Garland was responsible for preserving life, no matter what the cost was going to be. He believed that it was impossible to break the cycle of destruction as it was called and thought the worlds that had already been devoured by Narayana were an acceptable loss if it meant saving Crystallis from destruction."

She looks over to Reno with a curious look to see if he had anything else to add.

Selphie looked up at Minimus with a baffled expression on her face. Clearly, she'd missed something during her time away in the Dreamwidth's thrall.

"Hold on, Ganeshan's an Onion Knight?"

If surprised were a colour, it described Selphie to the letter.

Concerns about who the real Ramaa was were pushed to the side as Mogaruru mentioned a confirmed theory. Anyone in the first battle knew that their Melodies had made the issue with Bahamut a thousand times worse. The Melodies had in fact been entirely useless as even Selphie had been too shocked at the revelations to act appropriately. Even after the fact, there was still a lot of information being gained at an alarming rate.

It was too much to process all at once.

"Expected to hear here...?" Selphie questioned finally. "What do you mean?"
eternitynpcs: (Mogaruru 2)

[personal profile] eternitynpcs 2019-04-06 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Why, the theory of the Melodies of course! It's an old theory that's fallen out of fashion because no one's been able to scientifically demonstrate it. Until now, if what you say is true, kupo!" A cough. "Hrm. You see, when you say science a lot of people think about big things. Airships, space, dream width and whatnot. But what when you look at the other end of the spectrum? What is stuff made of?"

Mogaruru moved about excitedly, pulling a black board out and making a very basic drawing of an atom.

"Well, most people will reply atom. And to an extent that's true. But then, what are atoms made of? Quarks, of course!" Cue the drawing of a Quark, with an arrow pointing to the atom. "And what are quarks made of? No one know! Maybe they're the smallest particle? But here's the trick! Some otherworlder have come from worlds where they pretend atoms did not exist. Yet their worlds, if their world was to be believed, wasn't that different from ours! So surely there must be something in common between all the worlds, something that goes beyond atoms and quarks, Kupo!"

She erases the atom and quark, draws multiple circle all around the board, then have arrows point toward the middle with a '???'

"So rather what stuff is made of, the question really becomes: what is the smallest elementary particle? What can you trace all of existence back to, no matter the world or place?"

She then erases the ??? and instead draws a waving line.

"That's where the ancient theory that says the basic of all existence are the Melodies. It's a bit complex, so to make it simple. Imagine little strings that vibrate. Any slight variation in vibration change the nature of the string. Like when you have an instrument. You can do countless different sounds with a mere string on a guitar. When a lot of those string come together, they create the higher forms of particles mentioned before: quarks and then atoms. But then there are more strings, more instruments. All of those come together and form the source everything. That's what the Melodies are."

A pause.

"It is my belief magic does not exist. Or rather, it does, but you can explain it scientifically. That's why the theory of the Melodies is so fascinating! A lot of otherworlders speak of the magic in their homeworlds, but what if it's just skilled people who manipulate the Melodies to their advantage? They call it magic because they don't know better. Of course, that gift is always very weak... But if someone had a mean of truly controlling the Melodies, they could be a god! You could do anything. Change an inanimate rock into a tree, revive the dead, create a new world... Or destroy one."

He nodded. "It's an oft-repeated fact on his replies to my messages. The idea of mastering ten Asterisks is appealing - I have inquired to its use multiple times." And Ganeshan boomingly responded before realizing that Minimus trapped him so that he could rant about the poor graphic design of his pamphlets in person.

"I...suppose that is why he was so powerful."

Kenichi blinked as he watched Finn and the droid's conversation go on. "You really can understand what BB-8 is saying? That's pretty amazing, Finn."

Kenichi had just finished getting himself dressed when Okuyasu asked what was next. Kohaku even had to nudge her cavalier out of impatience. Judging by the size, it was a Falcon class airship, which was good for Kenichi since he could still pilot it by himself.

"Hm...Engine room. It's going to need a little time to get her engines warmed up. I can take care of that. I may need BB-8 to back me up but we still need a pair of eyes to watch out for any uninvited guests. If anyone asks, say that a mechanic is doing emergency maintenance or something." Hopefully, that would be enough to stop anyone from getting suspicious.

[How does one argue the moral obligation or protecting other planets than your own ? How does one get to the point that one's own safety is not a factor?]

And of yourself? You have nothing important on Cybertron to protect?

No. I don't even care if Cybertron falls.

Hm. I see that you would betray the entire race simply because you were dissatisfied.

[Starscream cares for no one, what a disappointing surprise.

...There is no reasoning with him, is there?]

I will speak with you after Bahamut is dealt with. Good day.
