Minimus Ambus
[Minimus knows of the common complaint regarding ventures to the Dream Width to investigate wave signatures: the flights are uneventful and "boring". Those individuals did not bring work with them, which is exactly how Minimus spends the majority of the flight. He has a copy of the international laws to study if he wants to seek employment in law enforcement, and this week he must begin his study on Von Oktavian municipal code. Before he can select a city in which to live, he must conduct thorough research on every possible similarity and conflict that will arise. Visitors from other countries are unlikely to be familiar with local customs, and it would be remiss not to take that into consideration is citations are to be made.
Besides, he will be stuck to one code when he is first admitted into the force. He will have to balance the cost of living and the enjoyment he derives from reviewing the local ordinances.
When he needs a break, he stands before one of the portholds, hands clasped behind his back and standing rigidly. He wonders if there is a way to predict when those "memory clouds" (or whatever term they are given) will show up. If he were to risk becoming lost in one of those memories, he could send a research expedition to sit out here and wait for something to happen.
...No, that sounds ridiculous. That is a hasty alternative to actual research. Still, it's worrying that they may be in danger from space itself.]
Retrieval - Ship or Curti Center
[For such a tiny bot, Minimus is surprisingly strong. His Point One Percenter spark has weakened considerably in this universe, but he is fortunate that he is still able to carry heavy objects with ease.]
I am doing well, there is no need for assistance. [He reassures whoever is watching by hoisting the large, bulky metal object onto his back and walking forward effortlessly.]
Re: Space Day Trip
Of course he'd elected to come along when he'd heard that there was a large scale trip into the Dreamwidth was being planned. Minimus is only an acquaintance, sure, certainly not a friend. But it is through these sorts of favors that friendships are built, no?
"Ehee. I do wonder what we will find."
no subject
Nonetheless, it did not hurt to partake in conversation during this stretch of time. Minimus could practice being informal, as least what is informal for the uptight second-in-command.
"I do wonder what object of mine will be retrieved. I was told is was large, but no indication as to the size." He hoped it was the Magnus Armor, but the lack of astounding shock at the sheer magnitude of the wave intensities that it would clearly emit. "Until then, we must wait."
no subject
He waves his iMog slate, "Fortunately, I brought plenty of notes to review on the trip. Science never sleeps! As to what we find of yours- I'm excited to find out! Hopefully retrieval won't be too difficult, but you never know, do you? Or so I hear."
no subject
"We should be approaching my item in several kliks. Minutes, sorry. I am still thinking in Cybertronian units."
no subject
But he's pretty bad at remaining quiet, and attempts to make conversation again 'ere long, "You know, I applied for a researcher position at the Curti Center. I've been very careful with what experiments I allow myself to do in civilized areas since our conversation, hee! You got me thinking about doing things properly. Not to imply that I do things illegitimately! Haha."
no subject
The ship slows its course, approaching the haze of the Dream Width that obscures the item. Minimus cannot find a hint as to what it may be. The potential surprise frustrates him, limiting the extent to which he can plan his retrieval.

Corrin
Corrin does not like the Dream Width.
Just about every time she's entered it, it has seen fit to inflict pain upon her. When she first arrived, she found herself fighting Takumi's defiled corpse on the final day of the Hoshidan war. When she reclaimed Shadow Yato, it forced her to relive the duel against Ryoma. Then she was made to watch Princess Kamui, her other self, choose Hoshido over Nohr and fight the very siblings she herself had sacrificed so much to be with. She watched both Elise and Xander die; Xander at her-that is, Princess Kamui of Hoshido's-own hands. In addition to almost being tortured to death by the entity behind Bahamut at the end of the expedition, and having the Calamity Knight asterisk inflicted upon her (which she wasted no time in divesting herself of upon her return to the Curti Center).
About the only time she hasn't been forced to witness herself hurting or killing the ones she loves was when she reclaimed her wedding ring, which she had done on her own (outside of Biggs and Wedge, who never left the cockpit).
She had relived memories when she reclaimed it.
They had not been unpleasant ones.
But that was one time, and the joy of the memories the wedding ring had brought her was little comfort when the multiverse seemed to determined to show Corrin the apparent multitude of ways she was capable of hurting her various families.
Fortunately, there were kittens onboard. Apparently they belonged to the pilot, Kenichi and he had brought them onboard when the airship had been rented for this excursion. One of them seemed to have cozied up to Corrin relatively quickly, and she wasn't about to argue with it.
As the airship moves through the Dream Width, Corrin is staring pensively out one of the windows, a kitten curled up quite comfortably in her arms, which she is stroking. She can hear it purring, and it helps calm her nerves.
"...What's your name, little one?" She asks quietly, mostly to keep herself occupied. She's not the only one retrieving something today and it's hard to say when they'll come across her rift. "You must have one. And if you do, do you know it's your name yet?" She glances around. "Maybe I can give you one, just for now. I don't think Kenichi would mind. Would that be okay?" The kitten yawns, and stretches, and Corrin gives a small laugh. "I'll take that as a yes. What should I call you then, hmm?"
[Retrieval-Back on the Airship]
Well, that had been surprisingly painless. Out she'd gone, tethered to the ship like she'd done before, moving quickly as possible to minimize the amount of time she'd have to spend out in the Dream Width, finding the rift relatively easy. The item was somewhat confusing, however; a folded-up piece of parchment that felt curiously warm to the touch. She didn't recognize it, but apparently this was her's so she'd grabbed it and then returned swiftly to the airship. Now that she was back on board and out of the harness, Corrin felt it would be safe enough to examine her mystery item.
She pulls the parchment out from where she had carefully tucked it away before returning to the airship. Odd...it's still warm. It's not hot, but there is a definite warmth to the paper...like it had been left out in the summer sun. Shouldn't it have cooled by now?
Regardless, she unfolds the parchment and stares at it. For a moment, she appears confused.
Then recognition hits her, and Corrin laughs happily, putting a hand to her mouth. "Oooooooh!" She says happily. "I remember this now." She stares at the parchment happily. "Okay. This was worth it, definitely."
If there are memories, they're currently playing in Corrin's head, but she seems content.
Lost in Dreams
He walks through the hallways, peeks into rooms, and pauses every so often to consult his Mognet Slate when he forgets the airship code language on room cluttering. So far, nothing that is cause to alarm, but that was before he found Corrin and the kittens.
His optics widen, though the rest of his body does not react. "Is this safe for them?"
no subject
"What, for the kittens?" She asks. "Yeah, I think so. As long as they stay inside the airship it should be fine. I don't think Kenichi would have brought them if it wasn't safe for them. Honestly, I'm grateful to him for it. I don't really like it out here, but this little one is calming." She really should thank him for it before the end of the trip. It was very thoughtful of him to do.
After a moment, she turns to give Minimus a better look. "I think this is a boy." She says. "What do you think a good name for him would be, Mr. Minimus? I'm trying to decide and I could use some help." If nothing else, the conversation will help to pass the time, and as she's never met anyone like Minimus before, it's a good chance to get to know him better.
no subject
"Unbelievable. I'll have to warn the hanger crew to wipe the insides for allergens." Leave it to Minimus Ambus to find something negative about a situation. He couldn't ignore his concerns no matter how helpless the kittens were.
He frowned at the one Corrin pointed out. "Providing names for pets is not among my specialties." Hoist was excellent in regards to that area. Minimus doesn't even know this kitten.
no subject
Well, he might have a point with the allergy issue. "I think they clean these things out every time they come back from a rental." She says. "But I'm sure the company would appreciate the notice anyway." Even though she can't help but feel is concern is a bit...over-pronounced.
When Minimus frowns, Corrin gets a silly, impish idea. "Well, maybe you just need to get to know him a little better then." She says, before holding the kitten out to him. "Why don't you take him for a bit?" She offers. "He's really very calming. I think you two would get along nicely." Besides, if anyone needed to unwind a bit, it was definitely Minimus.
no subject
"Er…" Minimus can handle socialization with sentient organics. Mechanimals were fine from a distance, but when he was a younger mech, proximity towards turbofoxes caused a great amount of anxiety. Mechanicals couldn't sniff out beastformers, that was obvious, but the fear that he would be discovered was present. As Ultra Magnus, he preferred not to have any reminders of the mech that existed behind the mask.
He held an slow and steady palm towards the kitten. "Only for a moment." He might as well get it over with.

Papyrus
[Papyrus knows how long these trips can be. So what has he done?
Why, he's brought puzzles! A rubik's cube, a few boxes of jigsaw puzzles, all plucked from his labcoat pockets for those on board, just in case they need a fun distraction from staring out into space.
Of course, he's trying to position them very carefully so not to obstruct the foot path.]
HMM... BUT WILL TODAY FINALLY BE THE DAY THAT I CONQUER THAT DREADED CUBE?! OR SHOULD I ASSEMBLE THAT LOVELY FLAME-THEMED JIGSAW...
[As others pass by, he perks up.]
NYEH HEH HEH!!! CARE FOR A LITTLE PUZZLING?
MTT Brand Memories™
[As they venture deeper into the dream width, the inevitable ensues. Abrupt turbulence strikes the ship, and suddenly they're no longer in the ship at all...
They're in a cozy little house. There's a wooden stand of some kind, though no clothing currently sits on it. A couch before a flatscreen TV. A sock covered in sticky notes, a rock sitting atop a table, covered and sprinkles beneath some sort of mechanical dispenser.
At first, it seems, the group is all alone, until there's a flicker from the doorway. A short skeleton clad in gold armor and a blue hoodie drags in a slightly shorter Papyrus in a labcoat much too long for his lanky teen physique.
The shorter skeleton sighs- though his mouth remains locked in a smile.]
bro, i know you're worried, but i think you BOTH need some time to cool off.
BUT-
just hang tight, okay? got a few things to take care of, but i'll be back.
[Papyrus stands in silence as his brother flickers out of sight, until, ultimately, he drags his feet over to the couch and plops down like a ragdoll.
He hasn't quite noticed those around him- seems he really has been sucked fully and completely into the dream-like state.]
Retrieval
[Well, after that awkwardly nostalgic trip down memory lane, Papyrus seems to have bounced back well enough. And why? Because of the poster clutched tightly in his hand. But not too tight! The last thing he wants is to damage it!]
NYEH HEH HEH!!! FINALLY, VAIKUNTHA CAN LEARN ABOUT METTATON'S ROBOTIC SPLENDOR! AH, WHAT A DELIGHT!
[Please don't mind him if he tries to show off a little. The poster's big, but who cares? It's Mettaton! Of course he'd want a big poster!!! Just let him unfurl and show off the beautiful bot within.]
Retrieval
This certainly helps decorate the residence. [In a way that does not impede on resident gardening ordinances, dear neighbor.]
no subject
[He pauses.]
METAL? ECTOPLASM? WELL. POINT IS! A PICTURE MAY BE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS, BUT IT'S STILL NOT ON THE SAME LEVEL AS A TRUE SUPERSTAR!
[Ah, it's been so long since he saw a MTT show. Or spent time with him. Alas!]
no subject
Truly, we must make do with the cultural figureheads of this planet. It would do no good to linger on what we once had.
[He's trying to be helpful! He's just not skilled at sounding anything other than pessimistic.]
no subject
[He holds the poster high. Feel its raw power, Minimus!!! Be in awe at his rectangular might!]

Kenichi Nakagawa
Kenichi was honestly surprised he could find an airship for rent in such a short amount of time. Sure the ship in question didn't look like a top of its class model, but as long as it operated, he couldn't really complain. There was still sometime before they departed, so Kenichi stood outside.
"Welcome aboard," he greets everyone with a smile. "We'll be heading out in just a few minutes."
All in a Day's Work
Sometime later, the airship had entered the Dream Width. Okay. So far, good. He had been a touch nervous with the idea of flying in here while he was still not a Captain, but this seemed promising. With the nerves gone, he flicked on the PA system.
Good afternoon, ladies, gentlemen, skeletons and cybertronians, this is your captain, Kenichi, speaking. Just a friendly reminder to do take breaks between our visits and not overexert yourselves while trying to explore the Dream Width. And actually, I did bring my chocobo, Kohaku, and my kittens with me if animal interaction helps in calming you down. Just please keep them to one section of the airship. If you have any questions, feel free to see me.
With a click, he cuts off the mic and another switch activated autopilot. He sighs as he watches the scanners do their thing.
Day's Work
"Kenichi?" Corrin asks. "Is it all right if I come in for a bit?"
no subject
"Come on in, uh, Corrin, right? Please, have a seat. What can I help you with?"
no subject
no subject
Kenichi leaned back against his seat. "Well, you already know my name and I can pilot airships. I've got the Dragoon and Cavalier jobs but I'm considering the other options we have...but that's probably not what you're asking for, huh?"
