Player Plot: A (skele)ton of Work
Who: [AU] Papyrus and everyone else attending the expedition
When: January 7th
Where: The I.B. Magitek Tower
What: The I.B. Magitek Tower may rest on top of the ruins of Asura's temple. Thus, it's up to our heroes to investigate the tower in hopes of finding the great Eidolon within.
Warnings/Notes: Let's just say it's gonna get... topsy turvy. ;)
Everything is pre-arranged. The flight to the tower. The appropriate waivers. Naturally, everyone who accompanies Papyrus will have to sign to gain access- the Triumvirate was rather adamant about preserving the more confidential secrets within the tower, after all.
But once the appropriate paperwork gets signed away, the tower staff escorts the group toward the elevator. Though with the sheer turnout, it may take a few trips to get everyone down below.
[ooc: Info and sign ups are here!
As a quick clarifying note, here's the gist of how the temple and tower relate.
- Characters can access terminals on specific floors, which will open up stairways to an upside down and photo negative version of the I.B. tower without any people in it. Characters enter on the ceiling, which is now the floor, but must proceed to doorways that are on the floor (now the ceiling).
- The elevator does not function on these flipped floors, but it does function on the regular floors, which is what will allow them to skip around to key areas.
- For the trials, there are only terminals within three floors of the destination (as outlined in the comments).]

But Finn stepped in front of him, brandishing the lightsaber. "The big one's the primary target. We'll handle the little ones." Little being a relative term. Still, he planned to protect Ramuh as the Eidolon fired Thunderstorm at the Scorpion again.
"It can't hurt, right, Papyrus?" he asked... then, uh- "Right?" Because clarification was important.

"Trust me, Papyrus, I'm fine. You'll know if I'm hurt!" they yell over the clangor of battle before disappearing again. Although, truth be told, they were a bit... worried. The tower seemed to be following pretty standard game logic so far, which meant that whatever was on the next floor would be even more of a pain to deal with than this one.

"Hey, other Frisk!" He makes a little donation of borrowed time, casting [Haste] on the ninja. "Knock 'em dead!"

With focus directed to the Scorpion, the non-inflated Magitek Armor readies its next attack. Briefly, Papyrus weighs his options. Does he Barrage again? Ready those concocterests? Perhaps even a scientific spaghetti? A Bone Barrier might help, too, but hmm...
For now, he'll launch another Bone Barrage, stunning that very same armor.
Which is a problem because the guard scorpion's tail is up.
Which means that as soon as it takes the hit, it retaliates by firing off its Tail Laser upon the whole party, dealing some pretty hefty damage.
But, hey! At least neither Magitek Armor got to attack this round!

Locally, there's something like a tape rewinding, as [Time Slip] restores him to the state of a few seconds ago. "Papyrus! Don't do the thing- ah, crap, it doesn't work like that-"

And then the Tail Laser happened.
They barely managed to flashstep out of the way, but they doubted the others were so lucky. This fight needed to end now, before the Scorpion could press its advantage. Time to experiment.
Haste kicks in, giving Frisk enough of a speed boost to get this party started. Raising their hand up to the floor, Frisk summons their SAVE Star, which begins glowing almost blindingly bright. "Okay, I am done!" they yell. "In the name of whatever planetary bodies are in Vaikuntha's solar system, I will punish you!" The yellow light eventually completely consumes Frisk.
WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
DETERMINATION MODE ACTIVE!
ALL ATTRIBUTES +200%!
HEALTH DOWN -20% OF CURRENT VALUE EVERY TURN!
When the glow fades, Frisk's outfit is... different. For one, they're wearing a fancy black labcoat embroidered with flames over a suit of golden armor. A scarf completely identical to Papyrus's flaps heroically in a nonexistent wind, and red anime shades have replaced their glasses.
Despite their far heavier armor, Frisk still manages to flashstep again--they still have another round of invisibility, after all. When they reappear, they're behind the Guard Scorpion, massive anime sword extended to the side after an Assassinate and weak physical combo from Justice Mode that's too fast to track.

He dashes back into the open, carrying the inflated armor with him--
Wow. Frisk looks...
"Looking good, Frisk!" He calls out, before spinning around and hurling a Kinetic Volley at the scorpion--or rather, launching that inflated armor at it bodily for a double-impact! There's nothing like using your enemies as your weapons!

"No more... I won't let you hurt me or my friends any more!" Sasami shouted. She was going to get serious now. Forget the Wind Magic, she's dropping Holy on all of those machines!

With Finn taking such heavy damage, blown off his feet and on to the ground, Ramuh crackled like static and vanished. Well... seemed like he was the one in need of protection now. "Dammit." He hated being in this position.
He used Partial Summoning again, only this time it was Titan that tore through the ground to stand in front of him. Frisk... probably had this for right now.

The Guard Scorpion takes all the hits, but as it was still in its defensive phase, it lets loose yet another Tail Laser.
The laser clips and strikes the inflated Magitek Armor. That, combined with the Holy seem to take their toll on the armors, while Finn's clever use of Titan should at least shield him from the brunt of the laser attack.
The other Magitek Armor takes significant damage from the Holy Spell, while the Scorpion begins to spark and tremble. Despite its counter attack, the combined assault is proving too much! The formerly inflated Magitek-Armor explodes.
The Scorpion's tail is down. Now seems like a good time to finish this!

Using [Stave Mastery] with a physical attack. Uncertain how much it boosts attack with staves, but maybe a C or B?

Only one thing for it. "The big one!" he says, pointing at the Scorpion. Frisk was on the move to attack, but they could at least make the target a little easier.
Titan seems to groan in agreement before lifting his gigantic arms above his head and sending them down to the ground in a Geocrush.

BOOM!<
Bits of metal scatter through the air, though Papyrus tries his best to deflect the brunt of it with a well-timed Bone Barrage.
Once the air clears, another hatch opens. Another ladder giving them easy access to the next and final floor.
Panting heavily, Papyrus switches from Cool Scientist to Chemist temporarily.
"BEFORE WE PROCEED, PERHAPS WE SHOULD HEAL! WE STILL HAVE ONE FLOOR LEFT, AND THERE'S NO TELLING WHAT AWAITS US NEXT..."
So he'll go ahead and start by mixing an Ultra Potion to share with the others.
Interestingly, it would seem that a little slip of paper has drifted down amidst the wreckage. It reads...
Three faces. Three treacherous phases.
Brute strength, magical malice, invulnerability and healing to stave off the impending assault.
Its faces controlled by ancient stone. Tread carefully, those who seek the final key.

"Yep.. That's enough hero work for today.. time.. time for something else." He says. Burnt fur is not pleasant.
no subject
He opens his mouth to say as much when he spies the paper amongst all the twisted metal. A wave to Titan - an I got it - and he walks forward to pick up the slip and read it. Then blinks, furrows his brow, and reads it again...
Finn stands up and turns to the group. "Three faces. Three treacherous phases. Brute strength, magical malice, invulnerability and healing to stave off the impending assault. Its faces controlled by ancient stone. Tread carefully, those who seek the final key..." He shrugs and waves it in the air at them. "What's this supposed to be? We're getting warnings now?"
no subject
But with that done, it's back to contemplating the riddle. He rubs his bony chin, humming quietly. "PERHAPS IT'S A HINT TO THE NEXT CHALLENGE? STRENGTH, MAGIC, HEALING... WOWIE, IF THAT'S ALL LITERAL, THEN IT'S PROBABLY GOT ALL SORTS OF TRICKERY UP ITS SLEEVES! ...IF IT HAS SLEEVES. IT MAY BE TRAGICALLY LACKING IN ACCESSORIES."

The Eidolon nods before vanishing into static.
Finn uses the time to take out his slate and switch to Gunslinger.

Sadly, the latter can't apply to the whole party, but he'll switch back to Cool Scientist just long enough to whip those up. It'd be good to have 'em as a precaution at the very least.
"DO YOU THINK IT'S WORTH ALERTING THE OTHERS? WE MAY STAND A BETTER CHANCE WITH A LARGER GROUP."
