Player Plot: Let's Explore Mad'ni Shrine!
Who: Everyone who signed up!
When: Around November 3-6ish
Where: The Mad'ni Shrine
What: Searching for the lost ruins beneath the Shrine!
Warnings/Notes: It's another dreaded water level.
Although the flight provided by Curti Center takes them as close as they possibly can, the Heroes still have to take a brief walk through the woods to reach their destination. It remains to be seen whether the trip will be worth it. After all, their hope of finding a Legendary Eidolon, or even just clues pointing to one, is based on little more than guesswork.
But, with the time ticking down towards the end of the world, they don't have the luxury of ignoring a lead, no matter how vague. A shot in the dark might be what saves them all in the long run.

Though, maybe... not. He's a necromancer, right? Either way, Adrien had his sword drawn and was ready to fight. "I mean, if she was a Sphinx, she might have a riddle for us..." But he doesn't recall Medusa being like that. If any of them had a reflective surface, that might be more helpful when the time came.

"'s good timin, too. I was gettin' a mite tired of puzzle after puzzle."

"I've been getting better at this. I'll do my best to make sure nobody ends up stoned!" He says, completely earnest and with full conviction in his words.

They summon three more stars, and tongue sticking out in concentration, Frisk begins manipulating them in a flurry of movement. The party would need every advantage that they could get in this fight. "Um, it's Klonoa, right? You on healing duty for today?"

"Okay. Here's the way I've got things set up right now for when I LOAD these files: Kanji, you'll be slowed down, but you'll also have a pretty decent healing factor for the whole fight. Maddi, Azusa, your attacks won't hit as hard as they usually do, but your healing spells will be extra powerful. Adrien, the reverse is true for you: you won't be able to heal as well, not that I think that matters for you, but your attacks will pack an extra punch. The same goes for me, plus I'll be able to move extra fast, although my health will drain. So the healers are going to have to keep an eye on me. Is that good with all of you? If anybody else is up for tanking, I'll get rid of my attack buff and give you the regen."
They pause. "Also, does anybody else think we should nuke the thing with our ults before the fight actually starts? Haven't used my Hellfrog yet, at least."

beginnerlevel.Sephiroth's boots make measured, controlled splashes in the ankle-deep water as he steps into the periphery of the group that seems to be making ready to launch an attack on the Medusa. He draws his short katana around from where it's been rested in his reverse grip and settles into a basic ready-stance.
He glanced to Adrien, gave a small nod to communicate clearly his intention; it was time to put all of that training to the test.

He ignored Dylas and nodded to Ashe and Klonoa. He trusted them -- even Frisk, too. Snow might not be the strongest, but he was fast. Activating Dualcast, he waited for the door to open.

Rolling his shoulders, he shifts into a defensive stance, glancing back at the others. "EVERYONE, LISTEN UP! I'M ABOUT TO CAST MY BLUE ATTACK!!! THIS SHOULD BUY YOU ENOUGH TIME TO DEAL SOME SEVERE DAMAGE. MAYBE. IT'S WORTH A TRY!!!"
And so with his warning made, he prepared to launch his blue bones. The moment the fight begin, he'd send them flying, hopefully giving the others an opportunity to pummel it to bits.

"I get to see your magic again, what fun! Knock 'em silly."
With a click of her heels, she began to cook up that magic. A Divine Caress for as many as she could starting with the heftier sorts, but she'd need some time to be able to sprinkle that on each and every one of the group.

He threw on the hood of his cloak and marched his way through. May as well get the medusa's attention, and what better way to do so than a full-on charge (though not as fast as he'd hoped, but he'd been warned by Frisk), and follow up with a Helm Smash to the snake-face. The business end of the hammer ought to soften up a bit of that defense!

She pulls her Tarot cards from her sleeve and makes a formation in front of her. They quickly form a star shape, and once she's charged them with her magic she passes Boon of the Stars onto Kanji.
"Kanji-kun! Don't hold back!"

The fuzzball starts to run inside, but keeps his pace slow and moves to the side, letting the quicker people run in ahead of him.
"Rupurudu!" He calls out.

Dylas slithers into the room, making sure to give himself plenty of space. The last time he used this spell, he was stuck in the body of a doll. This time, he's glad to be casting it with his hands. He chimes the bell he carries thrice and then reaches into the air with clawed hands, mumbling under his breath as he mimes tearing something open. Right in front of him, to match his Incantation, a hole in the rift appears and a monster appears. The muscular, purple man lands next to Dylas and takes a defensive stance, eyeing the situation, preparing.
"Hell yeah! This one looks great." He slams the hole shut when his incantation is over. "You guys might want to stay away from this guy. Who knows if he'll listen to me right away?"

It was not expecting to run smack into Kanji's hammer. Though the force of the collision sends Kanji tumbling back, the same goes for the Medusa; the monster staggers backwards with a shriek, teetering at the edge of falling over.
This gives everyone more than enough time to file into the room. There's plenty of space to maneuver as well -- just don't wander too close to the walls, or you'll find the water is not as shallow in the corners as it is in the center.

While everybody else rushes in, Frisk hangs back for a moment, fishing out their iMog slate and switching their Job to Ninja. As good as SOUL Mage was, it had little use in combat unless they were on dedicated healing duty.

Sure, he won't be able to use it again for a while, but it doesn't matter. That's what friends and comrades are for!

"-ngh!" The last foot he put down behind him sank significantly into the water compared to the apparent floor that made up the rest of this room. Thankfully Sephiroth had the good sense to abruptly shift his balance forwards to prevent himself falling back.
"Watch out for the edge!" He called out a sharp warning, yet knowing he'd undoubtedly reveal his position to the enemy in doing so, he'd hang back defensively for this round.
no subject
"Right! Thanks for the heads up!"
Even if they were both outed, it didn't matter. Darting in, he'd help Kanji with lowering the Medusa's defense with his boosted strength going into a powerful Flurry combo slicing into her scaly hide.

"Ah!"
He stopped short of the edge as Sephiroth called out the warning, arms waving slightly to help him keep his balance. "Got it!"

"Everyone's doing great! Keep it up!" He calls out.

Unfortunately for Azusa, she decided to keep too much distance between herself and Medusa. Before she can shout some words of encouragement, she cries out instead, finding no ground beneath her next step.
"Ah!"
She tries to pull back, but it's too late. Using her magic, she shields her cards from getting wet, but there's no helping her. They hover around her and then above her, coated in a thin layer of light-purple magic.
"Why me—I'm sorry everyone—"
Splash! She leans forward and falls right into the deeper water surrounding the edges of the room. Her cards float where she fell.
Azusa will surface on her next turn.

Dylas starts casting his magic again, opening with his darkness spell, Dark Savior. It only does medium-level darkness magic, but with his job maxed he's hoping it will do more than leave a little mark. He turns over his shoulder to make sure his 'hired' help is paying attention, but the sword dancer has instead turned his attention towards the furry rabbit thing making a lot of noise.
That doesn't like it's going to end well.
"No! Not that one," he yells, but it's too late. The Sword Dancer runs towards Klonoa (the seventh reply after Dylas) and starts to dance around him, fully intending to inflict the Zombie status on the Cat-Rabbit with Danse Macabre. But the Sword Dancer doesn't attack—once he's done casting, he races back to his summoner's side.

...Why is there a dancing skeleton next to him?
He chokes, feeling a coldness in his chest that slowly spreads out over his entire body. He wavers on the floor, the world spinning as the creeping darkness overcomes him. Twirling around on the spot one last time, Klonoa falls to the ground, lifeless and dead as a doornail.
...before slowly rising up, arms stretched forwards as his sunken, sallow eyes survey the battlefield, ears lifted partially in the air and kinked as if tensed aloft by some sort of unnatural force. "Graaao..."

"You imbecile! Send it back!" She reaches out a hand, instinctively going to cast Esuna...but of course, she can't.
no subject
"Thanks, guys!"
Shit. There went Azusa. Somebody had to get her, but...!! He took a breath and turned his back on the group. Safest that way. Rather than call a threat to the Medusa, the sound that came from him was a booming roar, more animal than human. What did his Asterisk do best? Go Berserk.
Eyes gleaming a malicious gold, he raced forward, hands twisting the handle of the hammer toward its pointed end. If anyone could catch the license plate on that warhammer-shaped truck that was hurtling for the Medusa's primary head, that'd be just lovely.
