Event || Custom Fit
Who: All
When: September 10th to September 30th
Where: Curti Center and mines around the world
What: Characters assist Ganeshan in developing Custom Jobs.
Warnings/Notes: OOC Post
A. The Lab
As much as Ganeshan requires supplies to create Custom Jobs, he need help at home base. With the large number of potential applicants, outworlders and Curti Center employees are invited to help out in the lab, not only with testing transfer of Jobs to crystals, but in developing the abilities and running safety tests.
Easier said than done when all of these cats aren't roaming throughout the center and claiming everything to be their sitting spot. The interns are trying their best to catherd to little avail.
B. Job Development
The break room contains formal submission papers and pamphlets describing the steps required to develop a Custom Job. Senior employees are available to help characters workshop the abilities, but they mostly want to remain in the break rooms to avoid Ganeshan's constant Job mania. His booming voice is muffled through the doors, interspersed with allergic sneezing.
A room has been prepared for those to practice using their basic job abilities, primarily in making sure they're stable yet not too weak. There is a chance that an improper ability extraction can go wrong and hurt the user, so Ganeshan has group of White Mages are on standby in case things go south.
For those that would rather have all the fun without the work, there is the Ability Simulation and Modeling Room, where characters can design their abilities on the computer and see them play out on the screen before them. There's no limit here, and since Jessie is too busy to keep an eye on everyone, the outfits and visual effects have the potential to get...very, very silly.
C. Heigh-Ho
It's off to work you go. Those crystals won't mine themselves, and anyone strong enough must enter the mine in search of the necessary material. It's tedious, difficult work, and some of these are embedded so deeply in the rock that they might be more trouble than they're worth. Not to mention those gross bugs might not like their homes to be disturbed.
There's also the fact that monsters have a tendency to wander inside and attack, so they'll need some reliable body guards.
There should be more crystals deeper inside, but someone else will have to scout the area...
D. Explore the Dungeon
Which is where this team comes in. All the good stuff is deep in this mine, and reliable navigators are necessary to map out the tunnels without getting lost. There's also the fact that the previous owners of a time long ago didn't want opportunists to take their precious resources and outfitted the rooms with puzzles.
Door Locks are puzzles. Pressure plates activate traps. It's the ultimate test of critical thinking. Some of these don't make sense if you think for too long. Why did they go through all the trouble to program time-based puzzles with falling blocks and symbols? The Pupu are strange. At least the bats here are easy to fight, and the mine cart rides are fun.

I, uh--right, got it.
[He couldn't catch the guy, but he can certainly keep watch.]
no subject
On it.
[A couple taps, and black mage is equipped again. The tonberry doll in his hands spins tilts its head down the hole as Noctis looks forward. Keeping Gi to his right. He's only met the guy once and trusts the wall more. For now.]
no subject
[It had crossed Yotsuyu's mind to just tell him 'No,' but the group getting caught off guard from behind wouldn't do them any good, and it wouldn't do her any good.]
[She holds her gun ahead, looking out. The job didn't give her terribly better vision, but it was enough to pick off anyone who might think to sneak up on them.]
no subject
Because three goblins, brandishing scimitars, appear to the front. They're waving the weapons around and hissing at Gi and Noctis both -- and then charge, rushing right for both.
While Vax goes plummeting.
But a moment later, a rope comes flying up.]
There! I think I hit the bottom!
[Unfortunately, the ceiling behind them also opens. And out drops... a glowing, fiery, red Bomb. Which sends a fire bolt hurtling for Yotsuyu.]
no subject
Gi, far left target! Noct, far right! Drawback out of their range if they get too close to me.
[He can't risk a look behind him right now. But he has to listen out for Yotsuyu needing help.]
Castor once Vax is up, you two cover Yotsuyu.
no subject
[He asks with a very faint hint of a tease, as the tonberry doll drops to the ground and shakes its little lantern menacingly. ...For a doll. Not that it matters when the massive blaze of Firaga erupts on the far right. Yet he keeps an eye out behind them. Shit. He'd been so focused on keeping an eye ahead he didn't notice the bomb; he'd have been better taking care of that enemy with ice magic.]
no subject
Aye, aye! I've got 'im!
[ She's eternally grateful for the Monk's physical prowess, because even though she's sure Vax only weighs six Ponze soaking wet, he certainly seems a lot heavier now. She looks up in time to see the Bomb appear and bites back a curse - both her hands are full and dropping Vax could mean more trouble for him later; Shiro, after all, is their only healer and he's busy. ]
Yotsuyu! Move!
no subject
[But only if the monsters are actually daemons. If not, Noctis only gets half credit.
He doesn't have the same magic capabilities as Noct does, so he's going in with his gunblade, aiming for any of the goblins that manage not to get torched by the Firaga blast.]
no subject
[She is not happy.]
You're going to pay for that!
[Yotsuyu opens her tome, concentrating on the magic within. She's only felt power like this once before, and although it was only a small taste, it gave her an appetite for more.]
Freeze!
[She calls ice upon her enemies, to hold them in place. If nothing else, this will give the others an opening.]
no subject
He won't be a help against the goblins. Or the--]
Oh hell.
[The Bomb is hit by a blast of ice. It stumbles backward, glowing red. Parts of its body distend, as it begins to bloat outward...
...and float at them. Yotsuyu and Castor might know what that means.
The Goblins are blasted into. First, by fire; the Firaga spell burns them all down quickly. The Saint Cross blows down one entirely; it crumples to the ground and doesn't rise.
Gi's Gunblade shoots down another. The last turns and runs away.
Which leaves the pulsing, glowing, about-to-explode Bomb flying for them!]
no subject
They might need the defense raise.]
I have no idea what that is but, stun it and take it out! [It's not bad orders when you have no fresh hell what's up with it.]
no subject
[Everyone else is different levels of squishy squish; sorry buddy. Yet Noctis doesn't move, instead lifting his right hand slightly as the tonberry doll whirls around. He casts a Blizzaga spell as he backs up; mindful of the blasted hole.]
Yotsuyu's instincts were right; the ones back home are like the elemental sprites here. Color coded to which element they use.
[He eyes the hole they'd just pulled Vax through. There's a brief idea of 'what if we jump in there?' but he doesn't voice it.]
no subject
That bomb is about to explode.
Vax is hardly on his feet.
Noctis is deliberately not moving for cover.
There is not enough time to rectify all of these things. ]
Ah Fuck.
[ Okay.
Step one: Vax only weighs six ponze, so she all but picks him up, hauling his skinny arse behind the cover granted by Shiro.
Step two: She'll never get Noctis to that same safety, but she nevertheless grabs for his wrist, tugging him backwards and moving to be between him and the bomb in the same move. She's a hale girl; if it blows, she'll be fine. Right? ]
no subject
[Yotsuyu is feeling very many things right now, and most of them are anger. There's nothing more she wants to do more right now than to wail on the bomb, and to take out an entire lifetime of pent-up rage.]
[However, she also doesn't want to die, nor does she want to be hurt. Partly because of her natural talents, and partly because of the skill bestowed on her by the Tactican job, she can analyze their current situation. The cover that Shiro has set up is their best bet, and whatever comes later in the dungeon, she has a better chance of surviving if they're all alive.]
[Mumbling under her breath, she grabs Noctis' other arm as she runs behind Shiro. She hates this. She hates every second of this.]
Sorry I'm late to the party
What's wrong with that plan?
[He didn't make up the original plan, so he's not offended, but he's not sure what Yotsuyu's taking issue with.]
no worries! sorry for delay, work was off the hook.
[Vax sounds ever-so-slightly indignant when he is hefted up by Castor like that. He still looks over his shoulder at the bomb. His eyes widen. He gets it.
They all rush behind the cover that Shiro makes, except potentially Noctis. Noctis's ice spells, however, slow the Bomb down... so there's a moment longer for Noct and any stragglers to get to cover. Before it explodes. The blast of fire rockets out -- and slams into that Rampart, holding it at bay.]
Welcome back!
It's a strain to hold but he refuses to budge. He can heal himself when its over.]
np. welcome back you two!
[Sweet Shiva, he was backing up. Both of the ladies didn't need to drag him back! He's a black mage and has high magic defense! It wouldn't have hit him that badly! Maybe singe his robes a little, but that'd be worth adding a little more shielding for those who don't have as great a defense against the flames.]
I had it. Black mages are resistant to magic.
[Just terrible, terrible physical walls. The doll rushes back into Noctis' hand as he pulls away from Yotsuyu at least, glaring at Castor. Just in time for the explosion. He tries to pat the tiny flame on its tail out
before it starts looking like a green charmander.]no subject
[ Castor pulls herself to her feet and extends her hand to help anyone else up. Her hair is blowing in the remnants of force from the explosion. ]
Didn't want ye flyin' inte the wall from the sheer force've it. On that note, I'd suggest we take a little more care with our steps from here on out, aye?
