EXPOSITION OF THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHT
— Third District || August 18th – August 25th || 10:00 to 23:00 —
The museums in the 03rd District are open to visitors and are home to many relics predating written history. A lot of those old relics are items of archaeological interest or look like they could be really advanced technologies if they weren't broken beyond repair. Prototypes for Magitek Armor of a new age are exposed, alongside fragments of what are believed to belong to the legendary WEAPONs, machines that belong to the same category than Ultima WEAPON.

The section for Eidolons has all the Eidolons the characters have met so far as well as others yet undiscovered displaying on a gigantic wall-covering painting. The largest Eidolon on the painting appears to be a dragon some characters may recognize as Bahamut, he is so big he dwarves the other Eidolons and should one pay attention, his wings are actually the background of the painting.

Interestingly, someone has doodled something that looks like Ultros over Leviathan on the painting...


SUNNY STARLIGHT
— Ninth District || August 22nd – August 25th || 07:00 to 19:00 —
Do you really believe because it’s summer, you can escape the beauty and magnificence of Christmas? Think again. There is one thing all the nations on Vaikuntha are of one mind on: the wait from the December 26th of a year to the December 24th of the next is too long. This is why a band of Moogles, Lalafells, Bangaas and Zoras from all across the Empire have occupied half of the Ninth District. Decorated trees, Christmas music, people dressed as Santa Claus (and probably dying because of the heat), fake gift boxes as well as a very large and pretty box for donations all await you!

Kids below the age of 15 will all receive a gift if they come: plushies made in the likeness of the main villains of numbered Final Fantasy games! And when you press the button hidden on their stomach, they speak a random line. Who doesn't want a Sephiroth plushie saying "You are a puppet" or a Jecht one repeating "Cry, cry, cry" all day long?

It's like a dream come true!


MIDNIGHT AIRSHIP
— Twelfth District || August 20th – August 24th || 23:00 to 06:00 —
For the late sleepers, it is possible to board a special airship prepared by Hypellos to party up in the sky. The Airship flies all around the Imperial Territories and should characters so desire, they can ask to stop by one of the two other cities. Whether they want to dance, to eat or to enjoy the view, it might be a very fun and relaxing activity. It is also a very good place from where to watch the fireworks… Or to scout for an incoming Tarutaru and her weapon toy.

Note that all the personnel onboard are Hypellos. They are very serviceable and nice, but can try the patience of those not used to their accent. Of note, one Hypello is green and appears to be angrily stalking anyone heading for the "Sunny Starlight" event. He is quite sneaky though and will always manage to get away before being approached.


MOGNET EXPOSITION
— Ninth District || August 22nd – August August 25th || 07:00 to 19:00 —
The half of the Ninth District not occupied by Christmas fanatics is occupied by the Moogles working for the Imperial section of Mognet. Split for the regular Mognet for a decade, Imperial Mognet has managed to thrive. Imperial iMog Slates have all sorts of functions other iMog Slates could only dream of, such as games, grammar check and that kind of stuff. All of those things can be visited at the exposition! Not only that, but the Moogles are also putting on display things that have nothing to do with Mognet but more to do with Moogles themselves.

Come and visit the exposition to discover the rich and amazing culture of the Moogles! Kupo Nuts, Fur Dye, Fake Kupo Nuts, Pom Shiner, Carved Kupo Nuts, booklets titled "How to Use Your Cuteness to Exploit People," Mognet Bags, Deluxe Kupo Nuts, Sheets to Prepare Future Strikes, Mog Beds, Explosive Kupo Nuts, Kupo Champagne—

There is no end to what might be learned from Moogles!


CHOCOBO RACES
— Sen Riqeaux || August 23rd || 15:00 to 20:00 —
A Chocobo Race will be held all around the city! Will you compete? Shall you win? There are no prizes as all the money earned through the race is given to the Safety of Sparks Golsaucia movement. Those participating can bring their own Chocobo or get a temporary one from the people organizing the race. It will be a very bad Chocobo though, so they shouldn’t expect to win… Beware the Hamsters and Marlboro during the race though. It’d be a real shame to end up getting eaten while racing.


SHOPPING
— City's Outskirts || August 18th – August 25th || 07:00 - 20:00 —
On the city's outskirts are all manners of stalls by shoppers eager to make some money. You can find everything there: plushies, food, clothes, souvenirs, books and even cosmetics. Why, one of the merchant is even selling contact lenses covering nearly all of the rainbow's spectrum aside from green while another sells all kind of swords, even the supposed legendary Excalibur! This might be the perfect place to take on O'aka's Quest if you so wish!


MINI SPARKS GOLSAUCIA
— Eleventh District || August 19th – August 24th || Anytime —
Specially for the festival, stallholders from Sparks Golsaucia were invited and brought a few attractions to display what they can do. Noticeably, there is a shooting stand—Once again, a treasure chest game where characters are presented with ten chests and can open only one-- Prizes range from one Gils to gigantic plushies. The novelty this year is something called the "Kupo Boxes," Boxes you punch open and you get something: perhaps something wonderful like a 1 million gil ticket, more often than not though absolutely nothing. Will you try your chance? Be careful, your wallet might not survive it.


TOURNAMENTS
— Tenth District || August 19th – August 23rd || 10:00/15:00/20:00 —
There is a Blitzball Competition taking place during the Festival of Light! Characters are free to go and watch the matches, so long as they can pay for the tickets. At the same time, a Triple Triad competition is taking place. Characters are free to enter the Triple Triad tournament if they so wish. Characters who know Triple Triads have decent chances to win. And even if your characters lose, what matters is trying, right? There are no prizes to be won, as all money goes to the Triple Triad For Everyone associations.


CULINARY ATTRACTIONS
— Second District || August 18th – August 25th || 12:00 to 13:30 / 19:00 to 21:00 —
What would a festival be without free food and banquets? Not really a festival. In the fourteenth district, there is a banquet and many stands held by people from all over the Empire. All kind of food can be found here-- Refined food, pastries, cakes, cooked meals, etc. It's virtually impossible not to find something to like in all of this, and it's all free! There are, however, guards standing around on the lookout for Gourmands who would be tempted to ruin the fun for everyone. After what happened two years ago, better be careful.


THE OPERA
— Ninth District || August 18th - August 24th || 22:00 —
There is an opera every day for all to see for free, titled "A Goddess's Tears." It is a retelling of the creation myth, but shown from the (presumed) perspective of the Goddess of Death. The play depicts the Goddess as someone who started out as a rather sweet person, but whose life took such terrible turns she wished to die and resented life. Yet, death was too scary of a prospect for her and she couldn't choose what was better, Life or Death. As the play progresses, she decides both are equally terrible and resolves to create a world where those very notions shall no longer exist.

As the play unfolds, toward the ends the story becomes what people are more familiar with. However, rather than letting her die wordlessly, the four heroes appease the Goddess's soul by singing. As the four heroes sing, the Goddess smiles and sheds a single tear before passing away. It is said the play is very emotional, sensible people might want to pass on it.


HOUSING
— Fourteenth District || August 17th - August 27th || Anytime —
Before, after and during the Festival of Light, the characters will all need a place where they can rest. Thankfully for them, people coming with the Curti Center delegation are all given the keys to stay in one of the abandoned houses in the 14th District. Truth to be told however, those house look anything but abandoned. Why, it's as if people had been living in them up until very recently, given how either clean and ordered they are for some, or chaotic and neglected they are for others (Characters who were present in Melodies of Life will be able to notice the houses are nearly identical to what they were just before the time skip during endgame, though there are a few eerie differences).

At least, it's a good place to sleep!


ARDYNIAN DISCOVERY
— Fifteenth District || August 18th – August 25th || 10:00, 15:00, 20:00 —
Everyday, it will be possible to get wheeled motor vehicle driven by imperial soldiers and go visit one of the other cities, case in point, Ardynia! Not much is done over there for the Festival of Light, but it is worth checking out, if only for the Wizard and Jester Jobs. It is a thriving city with people from all over the Empire, and it appears to be something of a shopping center for the imperial region.

And most importantly, discover the official headwear of Ardynia: the Fedora! It is said Archaeologists have imported this fashion trend to Ardynia when they pass by, but none know whether this is true or not. While most citizens have enough senses not to actually wear this dreaded hat, those who do wear it really look dumb doing so. And those who don't look dumb look like they'd make jokes about your pet's untimely demise while you're still crying about it.

Perhaps is is best to stay away.


PARASRAYA DISCOVERY
— Fifteenth District || August 18th – August 25th || 10:00, 15:00, 20:00 —
Everyday, it will be possible to get wheeled motor vehicle driven by imperial soldiers and go visit one of the other cities, case in point, Parasraya! Not much is done over there for the Festival of Light, but it is worth checking out, if only for the Archaeologist and Catmancer Jobs, as well as the Weapon Master Association. It is a technologically advanced yet small and cozy city...

... If it wasn't for a tragedy plaguing the city: cats, cats everywhere. If the meowing doesn't kill you, the constant flow of cats asking to be pet, fed and to sit on your lap might. You may even encounter a few tired citizens paying you money to take care of the cat infestation around their house. Others however are really defensive of the cats and will hunt anyone trying to bring harm to them. Of course, the source of all these cat-related troubles can be traced back to the origins of the Catmancer guild.

But, perhaps it is a story best left for another day.


FIREWORKS
— First District || August 18th – August 24th || Midnight —
Fireworks will be launched from the Castle starting 00:00 and will end at 01:00, everyday of the Festival. No matter where you are in the city, anyone should be able to watch them with ease if they so wish. Unfortunately, it means falling asleep before midnight may be a bit hard with all the noise. On the 25th, characters will be with dining with the Empress as the fireworks happen.

Standing in front of the Mognet exhibition, the young man sneered at the pamphlet in his hand.

“Poker? Did you skip that step of your education?” Offering up his newfound copy of How to use your cuteness… for his Moogle to see, Lean fully expected an angry retort of some sort - and he wouldn’t be wrong in that, having to (narrowly) evade a slap to the back of his head.

“I find it appalling that you would ever suggest I have any intentions of deceiving anyone. Kupo. Especially you, Lean.” The fluffball circled around his master while delivering his lecture. “You let empty words of praise get to your head too much.”

At that, Lean just rolled his eyes. There was no point proving himself in a pointless fight.

“... I liked it better when you were away. Are you aware I can now switch my Jobs however I want? Maybe I’ll even find a model that doesn’t require an assistance from a Moogle- excuse me,” the brown-haired man smiled gently at one of the exhibitors, much to Poker’s horror.

“DON’T YOU DARE. KUPO.

b. ( parasraya )

“Come here, don’t be shy… ouch.”

Lean didn’t mind cats, but for some strange reason they never responded to his efforts too well. It’s almost as if there was something about him that…-.

„...G-get these claws away from my face, why are you- ugh. I’m not a Chocobo!”

Surrounded by a pack of wild cats - clearly lured in by the familiar bird scent that was present all over his attire - the young Cavalier found himself at quite a loss. Not wanting to resort to acts of violence, but also not necessarily entertaining the idea of attending the imperial dinner covered in cat scratches, he began to wave his arms and kick at the air with his legs, doing everything in his might to escape his captors.

c. ( fourteenth district )

The house he was assigned was a fair distance away from the city center, which Lean found a bit surprising. There was, after all, enough lodgings in the vicinity that could house all of them freely.

He looked down at the set of keys in his hand, accompanied by a lengthy instruction on how to get there - they really had thought of everything. Was it necessary, though? Staring ahead, he suddenly realised… he knew exactly where to direct his steps.

„What is happening…?” The young man muttered to himself, feeling a soft shiver course through his body as he wandered between the abandoned houses.

d. ( everywhere, pick a location! )

Much to Lean’s dismay, these feelings of uncertainty lingered throughout the rest of his stay. He couldn’t find his place among the noisy festival audience, preferring the safety of museum exhibitions. And how much there was to witness! Though he spent a longer while studying the WEAPON fragments, it was the Eidolon Wall that truly caught his attention; one afternoon, he even took it upon himself to sit down in the corner to try to recreate the masterpiece on a piece of paper. Slates were an exciting piece of tech, no doubt - but a quickly snapped photo wouldn’t have the same impact as a careful pencil study.

He could often be found quietly marveling at the architecture of the city the Empire had kept hidden for so many years. The castle was the most obvious destination, even if the heavy security around the First District would only let him observe it from a distance - but in his search for more tangible fragments of history, he had managed to stray away from the paths aimed at regular tourists. He spent a longer while at the graveyard, from where he would direct his steps towards the monuments of the old.

„With them ended the Final Fantasy...” Reading the cryptic description over and over again wouldn’t help him picture the majesty of the original statue, and yet... he couldn’t pry his eyes away from it.

( Anything goes! He might seem stand-offish at times and generally won’t approach unless poked at, but he might check up on otherworlders occasionally, should he believe his assistance might be required - so feel free to incorporate that. )

A cold, metal hand waved in front of his face, followed by a tap on the shoulder.

"Are you alright, Lean?"

He saw the boy wander off the regular path and ended up following him through the graveyard and monuments of old. The fact that he knew where he was going was a bit unnerving, just like in the 14th district. Something was going on with him and Sylvarie.

[AU] Papyrus | Open!

Museum;

[Papyrus couldn't resist the call of the museum exhibits. Eager to sink his teeth into every last facet of this new city, he can be found hovering around the Magitek exhibit with a clipboard in hand, jotting down notes vigorously. The sight of broken, ancient take brings a tiny tear to his eye sockets.]

SUCH A TRAGEDY!!! IF ONLY WE COULD SEE WHAT THESE RELICS WERE LIKE IN PROPER WORKING ORDER. OR IF ONLY THEY'D LET SOMEONE REPAIR THEM!

[But he understands the desire to preserve historic artifacts. Alas!

Later on, he can be found grimacing at the Eidolon picture. A very dry look has crossed his skull and he huffs at the Ultros illustration.]

REALLY! IT'S BAD ENOUGH THAT THAT TENTACLED TROUBLEMAKER UPSET LEVIATHAN BEFORE. BUT FOR SOMEONE TO VANDALIZE THIS BEAUTIFUL IMAGE... NO WONDER SHE WAS SO CROSS!!!

Sunny Starlight;

[Papyrus can't help but gravitate to the festivities. It's so much like home. THe lights. The costumes! Though it's... weird to see so many people dressed as Santa. It raises some very unusual questions. So he can be spotted wandering from "Santa" to "Santa," squinting as he asks:]

SO DO ANY OF YOU KNOW THE REAL SANTA CLAUS? HE'S TALL. HORNED. HAS A MAGNIFICENT BEARD! DID SOMEONE FROM SNOWDIN TOWN COME HERE, AND I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT? THERE MUST BE SOME REASON WHY YOU SHARE SUCH SIMILAR FESTIVITIES...

[Sure, it's not like Christmas-like festivities weren't celebrated before, but there must be some connection! That, or it's a very strange, otherworldly coincidence.

Someone may want to intervene before he hassles the locals too much.]

Party Time;

[Papyrus... doesn't sleep. At least, he seldom ever does. Thus, with Frisk ever eager to catch the epic party antics, it's only natural that he'd follow suit. A) to keep a responsible eye on them, and B) to socialize and be a proper party animal.

He's even got a pair of sunglasses on, despite the goggles on his head and despite how late it is. Cool people wear sunglasses at night, okay? That's the rule. Maybe? Either way, he's strutting around, sampling some of the snacks. And drinks. Alas! Milk is not a party drink, but punch... Now that's what the cool kids have!

But while he can be spotted doing casual mingling, snacking, and drinking, it's not long until he opts to bust a move.

So yes, that is a skeleton, in shades and goggles, trying to do some crazy spins on the dance floor. The downside? Sunglasses in the dark aren't condusive to seeing well. Odds are that while he's having his fun, he might end up on a spontaneous collision course.

But it's a sacrifice one must make in the pursuit of ultimate coolness.]

Mognet Exhibition;

[Ever the nerd, Papyrus can be found gawking at the great Mognet display with big, googly eyes.]

INCREDIBLE!!! THEY HAVE GAMES? A PROPER SPELL CHECK? AND JUST LOOK HOW STYLISH IT IS, MOBY!!!

[The silence in response is enough to draw his focus away from the fancy slates, and...

Oh. Oh dear. He can spot his Moogle hovering over the little stand selling Explosive Kupo Nuts and Kupo Champagne.

All this, while reading "How to Use Your Cuteness to Exploit People."

Huffing, Papyrus turns on his heel and barrels across the floor.]

MOBYYYY, DON'T YOU DARE!

[But the Moogle's already pulling out a wallet. Specifically Papyrus' wallet.]

Aw, c'mon. You can't have all the fun-

BUT THAT'S MY MONEY!!!

[Little does Papyrus realize, most of this stuff isn't actually on sale. But what's wrong with a good prank?]

To Gamble... or not to Gamble?

[Papyrus, despite his better judgment, can't resist the call to the games. The shooting gallery! The treasure chests! It's all so stunning. So exciting... but as he stands there, glancing at the plushie prizes and other assorted goods, he can't help but fidget awkwardly.]

DRAT! I HAVE TO WIN PLUSHIES FOR FRISK AND CHARA, BUT... WHAT IF THE GAMES ARE RIGGED? HOW DO I KNOW WHICH GAME IS THE ONE?!

[Truly, this is a struggle.]

Food, Food, and More Food

[Papyrus is here for two reasons. One? Free meals are a great way to save expenses. Two, research. Because the fact is, Papyrus hasn't cooked many... varied meals. Mostly just pastas. But Kenichi encouraged him to focus on a balanced diet for Frisk, and if he's to improve as a cook, he must broaden his horizons.

So he can be spot going from stall to stall, sampling everything.]

HMM... SWEETS ARE GOOD, BUT PROBABLY NOT THE HEALTHIEST TO HAVE AS A REGULAR MEAL. CASSEROLES WOULD BE A WELCOME CHANGE FROM NOODLES, PERHAPS. AND THAT SEAFOOD DISH SMELLS INCREDIBLE! WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN?!

[And yes, he's got a clipboard out. For science! And also note taking as he samples the goodies.]

Opera;

[It's not hard to miss Papyrus in the audience. Not just because of his skeletal appearance, but because of how emotive he is through the show. Many gasps. An occasional audible remark, and towards the end, when it starts to get tragic? Tears begin to spill from those googly eyes.]

H-HOW TRAGIC! HOW BITTERSWEET!

[He sniffles, clutching his chest. The song sells it. By that point, he's leaking like crazy.

How awkward.]

A Stylish Hat...?

[Sensible people will know to avoid the fedora, but Papyrus can't help it. It just looks so... classy! So cool. So cool that he can be found conversing with a hat vendor.]

OH! WHICH DO YOU THINK IS MY COLOR? DO YOU HAVE ANY WITH A STYLISH FEATHER? I WANT TO MAKE SURE I MAXIMIZE MY COOLNESS QUOTIENT, YOU SEE!!!

[His Moogle facepalms, though Pap does't have a clue. Heaven help him.]

Cats and Business Ventures?

[Eager to see all he can see, Papyrus naturally had to come to this very... furry part of the empire. Of course, while the sights and sounds entice him, he has a particular goal in mind: assisting the business ventures of O'aka!

So he moves from business to business, trying not to stumble as cats rub up against him. Every now and then, he'll stop to pet them, but they're very clingy. And purry. Maybe they can smell the spaghetti on him.

At the Hypello shop, he can be found chatting it up-]

[Just as he's about to finish his sentence, more kitties start crawling over, tugging at his labcoat and meowing and, oh great, now there's fur on his clothes.

He heaves a big sigh.]

ER... YES! THESE CATS APPROVE OF O'AKA, TOO! O'AKA IS A FRIEND TO ALL CREATURES!!!

[The shopkeep gives a perplexed look at the skeleton in question. Papyrus himself is... trying to free himself from his furry posse. But... points for effort?]

Housing;

[When Papyrus isn't out on the town or attending parties, he can be found scouring the house to make it extra tidy. More importantly, he's camped by the stove, perusing recipes to try and provide a wholesome meal for Frisk... and Chara, if they wish to stay. The offer was there, at least. Best to make 'em feel good and comfortable as they spend time in unfamiliar territories.]

[If Papyrus's Moogle wanted someone to talk sense into him, then they are sorely disappointed. Okuyasu, master of wearing too many accessories, notices these expensive hats on display and is lured over to the table.]

Oh damn, you're gonna look like an old Hollywood star with that!

Third District

Amanda's not going to rob the Empire. Amanda is not going to rob the Empire right now when it could screw her friends over and ruin relations immediately. They're The Empire, and if she's seen enough movies they'll deserve getting robbed sooner or later. That way none of her new pals will be terribly disillusioned if she steals a priceless artifact.

That said, she's taking notes for no terribly obvious reason.

City's Outskirts

If she had the cash, she could go on a shopping spree. That's the part that actually sounds fun here.

Instead, with the supervision of Morag to keep her from snapping at anyone, she's handing fliers out for that O'aka guy, looking deathly bored in between fake smiles for the benefit of her task.

Tenth District

Despite all her financial problems, though, Amanda's put together the money to go watch Blitzball. ...she can do this, right? Nothing here looks like it's outside the realm of what she can pull off with a little practice. Hell, if she thinks about it, she could probably pass up most of those chumps in a few months.

Once again, Morag's here, looking a bit worried at the smiles instead of encouraging them.

City Outskirts

Biggs and Wedge pass by Amanda and her moogle on their way to the Fourth District.

"Apparently the Dream Width observation tower is off limits."

"Yeah, but we can still check out the telescope at the other observatory, right?"

They stop when Amanda offers them a flier.

"Man, O'aka doesn't waste any time, does he?" Wedge says, shaking his head.

"That man could rival some of the merchants back on Tattoine. He's ruthless." Biggs agrees.

Nekoatsume the City - August 20th
They weren't kidding about the meowing, that's for sure. As he explored the city, several kittens began to follow him around. He finally sat down just outside the Catmancer guild, and was reading up on this new job when two started to climb up, eventually finding their way inside his half-zipped hoodie. The black kitten with one blue eye, and a blue-gray kitten poked their heads out looking at Kenichi's reading material.

"Hey little buddies. Here's the big question: why aren't they called nekomancers?"

Chocobo Racing - August 23rd
Kenichi held onto Kohaku's reigns as he read over the rules that were plastered outside the starting point."What do you say, girl? You up for one?" The yellow chocobo trilled happily and fluffed up her feathers.

He laughs and strokes her neck. "I thought so. Better get registered then." As they made their way to sign up, Kenichi was sure he heard some snickering and snippets of snide comments possibly towards his mount. Her pride almost got the better of her and she would've kicked the closest snarker if Kenichi didn't stop her. "Easy girl, and leave them be. We'll have them choke on dirt when we're through."

Culinary Attractions - Anytime
Japanese food probably not going to show up, but even Kenichi can't refuse free food. Granted he can't eat as much as he could compare to back home, but he refuses to let food go to waste. Still, the problem with some festival foods, that was a lot of fried food and he wanted something lighter.

"To think I'd be missing kitsune udon right about now of all times," he shook his head and laughed.

Shopping - Anytime
The shops here really went all out. It was hard for even him to decide what to get. He let Cecil treat himself at the Mognet Expo which left him alone. He could use a new spear but maybe Kohaku was due for some sort of gear but there's now kittens to tend to on top of his goal of purchasing an airship. He can't help but stare at the various armors and weapons on display though.

"There's good craftsmanship in these but now's the question of which one to pick."

The little ginger tabby (that he now called Sherbet, because of course you do) had friends of all shapes and colors, friends that understood where the most comfortable, warm spots were on Kanji. With kittens curled up in his lap, perched on his shoulders, and bundled up in his arms, Kanji contemplated two things: How he was ever going to go home, and how he was... um... going to get up and go pee when the urge came along.

1) Museum Exposition

[It should come as no surprise to anyone that this is where Uendo would gravitate to first. What better place to start learning the stories of this country, if not a museum?

Although he's certain to look at everything, it's the painting of Eidolons he lingers at the longest, carefully studying each and every deity on display. Why is it that there are so many new ones here, that even the Summoner Guild didn't seem to know about?

...And then there's that.]

[Why would anyone vandalize a historical relic for Ultros?]


2) The Opera

[And this, of course, is the next place to go to. You can learn a lot about people based on what kind of performances gain popularity.

Watching the story unfold, Uendo finds himself thinking of Kalki, back in that memory he saw in the Dream Width. She was frightening, very much so... but so truly, deeply distraught, weeping all the way as she pushed the crystallized Heroes into a more secure place...

The play is likely romanticizing the events a fair bit, but still. Was Kalki really just a person broken by a life of unrelenting misfortune? Maybe she went to such extreme lengths because she simply couldn't cope with the hurt...

...Uendo can't help but relate a bit more than he really wants to. By the time the play is wrapping up, he's looking rather misty-eyed and trying not to sniffle.]

Geez... When did I become such a sucker for cheesy endings? [He mumbles, as though he wasn't always an emotional nerd.]


3) Ardynian Discovery - Jester Guild

It's perfect.

[From the outside, it looks like Uendo is just staring, completely transfixed, at the demonstration held by guild members to attract potential newcomers. Inside, a heated argument is taking place.

'I want iiiit! I want it I want it I want it--' 'You don't need a Job to be a jester, Patches! Stop drooling, you're making us all look ridiculous!' 'I have to admit, I really want it too...' 'And you don't need a Job to make even more of your atrocious puns, Uendo!'

It's quickly dawning on Kisegawa that this is a battle she's on her way to losing.]


4) Ardynian Discovery - The Pyramid

[Once she's finally able to drag them away from the guild, Kisegawa takes control for the time being. There's another place she wants to have a look at.

It's a long climb to the pyramid where the Prime Minister is supposed to live, but the view alone is worth the trouble. What really gets her attention, though, are the murals on the walls. At first glance they resemble the same old creation story they've seen everywhere else, but... Isn't there something different here?]

That can't be right...

[Kisegawa mutters to herself as she takes in the narrative being shown. Instead of defeating the goddess of death, the heroes just die to pass the baton to another generation. Did Futaba's notes mention anything like that...?]

[It isn't the first time he's seen history played up for the dramatics. His own family history reads like some sort of gothic soap opera (and man, did he not realize how much until recently), so, of course, he's undaunted by the thought. That was, before it reached the final act. His suspension of disbelief is just... gone.]

[If anyone thought he wouldn't be interested in racing was funny. Especially considering once he heard of the races, he made sure to bring Felix around. (Plus, it probably helps to have one of their feathery friends to help calm down a certain chocobro of his.) [Checking out the other cities when the Festival was ongoing and thus less busy had been something Noctis had been interested in doing, especially the new Jobs and what might be found here. Clues, anything about the world they'd have to call home for however long they're stuck here.

At least he got to visit the Weapon Master Association (he really, really misses using one-handed swords, okay?) before stopping near the Catmancer guild. Not because he wants to pick up the Asterisk, mind (there's enough cat jokes in this family, thank you), but...]

Hey there, little guy. [He kneels in front of a little tabby cat, who mewls at him before trotting closer, sniffing at him before rubbing his little head against a gloved hand.] Someone looks hungry.

The photographs were from past shows, of actors and actresses taking a bow, of their dances and songs in the midst of a musical; cabaret shows were glitz and glamour, of top hats and lace; concerts galore (wow, was that Adrien Agreste playing piano?) with audience members filling nearly every seat. Posters decorated the sides of the stand, announcing future productions. Seemed holiday tales would be coming up next, complete with teasers involving a Hallow's Eve Burlesque, urging audiences to come and embrace their devilish side...

Madhuri herself was passing out fliers, answering questions, spoke glowingly of her venue. But as she shook hands with so many interested parties, she offered a warning:]

Oh, and... avoid the Kupo Boxes. Trust me. Call it 'personal experience'.

[So many cats! Madhuri couldn't get very far in the city without encountering the needy little buggers. Really, she had more experience with the lions, the tigers, dragons... never cute little guys like this. It seemed they were lost, perhaps, and needed a hand home.

So the solution was obvious. Well, obvious for her, as she took a trip to a music shop, dropped down cash, and asked to borrow a few instruments for a while. The confused clerk agreed, and handed woodwinds, brass and sticks to the tiefling's master plan:

Song, of course. Her hands were busy with the drum, her tail tapping a tambourine dangling by a string behind her. From her mouth was a recorder, happily tooting away. As she marched down the streets, kittens and adult cats began to line up behind her in curiosity. It was the tiefling's hope, perhaps, that the felines would find their homes if they just followed her for long enough.]

Third District

[Owen didn't exactly have the luxury to look at all the displays at the museums, especially those around Magitek. Almost every time he did, a citizen of the Empire would begin to marvel at his own magitek, namely his arms. He was dressed a bit more casually as he walked around, saving his best for the dinner, but that also meant his arms were exposed.

He wasn't nearly so insecure as he used to be, but now he wished he braved the heat with long sleeves and gloves when yet another citzen just went out of their way to poke at the metal. It was trying his patience. Did they people really think that it was okay to just touch him without asking? His eyebrow twitched and he yanked his arm away, beelining for the Eidolon exhibit where he found a secluded bench to sit with his arms crossed.

It didn't stop his slightly pointed ears from picking up footsteps from off to the side and he didn't hold back.]

Twelfth District

[His kingdom for some wine. One can only take so much of ogling citizens, after all. He wasn't in the mood to visit the other cities so he generally stayed on the Midnight Airship, a glass of wine in hand.

He wasn't intending to get drunk, so he left it at only a few glasses at most. It took more than that for him to be truly drunk, but the nice buzzed feeling was what he needed. He swirled the drink, it was a good stock and he appreciated the flavor and aroma. It put him at ease as he gazed out into the night sky. He has seen the fireworks almost every night thus far, he rather enjoyed them. Tonight would be no different. He turned to make his way to the upper deck for a better view as they would start soon and nearly bumped into another individual.]

Oh, my apologies. I didn't see you.

[Blitzballs was actually pretty relaxing for him to watch. He never got into it to choose which team he rooted for or anything like that. He just liked to sit and watch and forget about the day sometimes. Even if he didn't have a bad day. So, one could find Owen in the seats, arm resting on the back of chair he had and a drink in hand as he watched the match unfold.

Although he did move a couple times when one too many kids decided his arms were the coolest things ever. He made his way over to another empty sit, looking at the person seated next to it.]

[Salieri was generally indifferent about sports, but he has never stopped to actually watch a blitzball game. Now he's found himself enthralled in this sport and the absurdity of it. Being a non-human creature in reality, living in a world full of magic, something like this shouldn't be so impressive. But here were these athletes giving it there all without any magical aide. It was pretty impressive, even if he didn't really understand everything going on.]

[Ever so slowly, Salieri was beginning to delve into the fashion of this world. Mostly due to necessity, since he can't just wear his one suit all the time, and he can't afford to get new ones made on his meager salary. Plus, he needs something nice to wear to meet the Empress, though nothing here seems quite right to him. While reluctant to try something new, he's confident in his choices. Yours, however... he just can't help himself on critiquing.]

[Parasraya - 24th]
[A city full of cats sure sounds like a fun place to visit. Salieri was also looking for a pet since moving to his new apartment alone in Hisan City. He's never had a pet before, and some company sounded great. Surely this city with its surplus of felines could afford to part with one for his sake?

In order to entice some cats his way, Salieri had bought a packet of treats and brought it with him. What he didn't know what that the swarms of cats were not exaggerated, and he doesn't realize what he's got himself into. He barely has the packet open when the cats catch the sent, and dash his way. They completely overwhelm the small man much faster than he was expecting, and there's a tiny yell from him as he trips over backwards, and is covered by cats before he's barely landed on the ground.]

No, these weren't the exact same houses, that would be impossible. But they sure were close. Too close.

It was A-03 - or what used to be A-03? - that he had stopped outside of. He half expected Duster to walk out of it any moment.]

[Sparks has learned that the best place to watch fireworks is from up on high. It's a nice place to let the wind cool you down while having a drink and enjoying the sights. And with no Ultima WEAPON on the horizon, it was indeed a good night. Join the marshal in the seat next to him, won't you?]

[Chocobo Race - 23rd]
[Drawing the short straw, Sparks has been chosen to represent the Von Oktavia police force in this race to help support its charity. Sparks Nevada has never been a fan of chocobos, and the months here without his trusty rocket steed have been long and annoying. The odds on the marshal are pretty high, considering he can't even get his bird to hold still while they get ready for the race. It's like it can sense that its rider is not fond of it and would rather he go away now.]

Midnight Airship

[The Midnight Airship functions as an excellent high end dining venue, judging by the large group of older passengers that have taken over an entire seating area. All are dressed formally, though in various states in alertness and sobriety.

A man stands up, taps on his glass, and all attention diverts to him.]

[He tilts his glass towards the man next to him, who is immediately recognizable as Cid. He nods, but he's obvious tired at this hour.]

[A former Crystallis resident, Johnny had an interest in seeing if anything in this display was even the slightest bit familiar. He's leaning into those displays as close as he can, making the museum guards a little twitchy. Johnny ignores them. This is important!]

[Some of Johnny's fellow bard friends convince him into attending the opera, lauding the performances and ignoring his protests. He finally gives up and goes along, outvoted when he suggests maybe going to see some blitzball instead.

He really regrets losing that vote. Even if the music isn't something he likes, he can appreciate the performances. Sure. It's too bad the story and script seem dumb as rocks to him. He's barely keeping awake, slowly nodding off in boredom. Better look out, or those horns of his might start leaning your way!]

Exposition of the Festival of Light

[Museums weren't usually the first thing that Chara would check out, but learning more about this world would be a good first step. Chara wasn't even particularly sure what the conflict between this empire and the rest of the world was about; they had just sort of managed to fall into this world the moment the place opened up.

They admit that they're personally interested in the Eidolons, and the child spends a great deal of their time looking at the portraits of the creatures. Still, they find themselves being drawn to the artifacts and technology. Looking over them. Wondering to themselves.]

Heh. Dad would've loved this place.

Midnight Airship

[As much as Chara had come to love being under the ground, they had to admit that being above the clouds was an exciting and new experience. The airship was big enough, too, to be a place to kind of just wander. To get lost in for a bit.

It's hard not to notice the Hypello that's stalking about, either. Whoever they are, they seem to have a chip on their shoulder. Chara decided to try and tail them, first with the intent to try and talk with them and maybe calm them down, and later with the intent of just wanting to catch them after the amount of times they avoid them.

For a moment, Chara can be found just standing there, perplexed, and staring off for a minute.]

How does he keep doing that?

Mognet Exposition

[Now this is Chara's kind of party. Despite the fact that they're already taller than most of them, Chara finds themselves fitting in more around the moogles. Or, at least, they feel more comfortable around the little creatures. They remind them of home, almost kind of like the Temmies, if more talkative and understandable.

Chara looks through the wares that the moogles seem to be presenting and selling. And picks up a container of fur dye, turning to their own moogle.]

You know, have you ever considered being a blonde?

Hm, it isn't out of the question, kupo! Though I am rather happy with my current color.

Hey, we could both give it a try. We'd match.

I suppose we could. But I wouldn't use it on your hair.

[It is good to know that no matter what world, no matter what universe, chocolate is a constant.

It doesn't matter what kind of delicacy it is. Cake, candy, pastry, something more exotic. If it has chocolate in it, then Chara is on it in making sure it gets devoured. The child can be found happily eating and munching away at what they find. All of which is something chocolatey.

Someone might want to encourage them to balance things out a bit more.]

Ardynian Discovery - Wizard Guild

[Chara couldn't really say how they felt upon seeing and hearing those words. "Wizard's Guild". You could say that out in the open here and not expect some kind of retribution for it. Could claim to be one, and not be hurt or chased for it out of fear or anger or hatred or all of those feelings at a time.

The child wanders the guild, looking the place over. The entire time, it's not really any kind of childish wonder that seems to be across their face, but something else. It almost looks as if they're a little upset, but not quite. Like there's a pain to be hearing, about seeing that this is something allowed. Something expected here.

They don't know what to say or feel. But they don't want to leave the area either, even if it's upsetting them at least a little.]

[A. Exposition - August 18th]

[Once upon a time Vanitas probably wouldn't have cared about museums and relics unless they were of some use to his mission or Xehanort's goals. After spending half a year in Ryslig? He'd learned to pay more attention to history; to relics especially. Things like that could always have some sort of importance later.

It wasn't hard to stay away from large groups wandering through the museums given most people didn't want to cross paths with a large Arachne on the best of days, so Vanitas was able to take his time and skulk through at his own pace. He lingered here and there, getting closer than he probably should to some of the items--like the fragments of the supposed Legendary Weapons--before finally ending up in the room dedicated to the Eidolons.

The arachne stood in front of the large painting, long arms crossed awkwardly as he looked over the images of the strange beasts, mandibles clicking thoughtfully.]

So these are the gods of this world...figures.


[B. Parasraya Discovery - August 20th] (Warning for attempted cat eating)

[Take care of the cat infestation they said.

Their a nuisance they said.

To Vanitas they looked like lovely little morsels.

While animals weren't exactly his meal of choice, since arriving in this place the arachne had found he could tolerate a bit better than he'd been able to back in Ryslig. So after catching wind about people trying to hire outsiders to take care of the feline infestation...well, he wasn't about to say no to spare cash and a free meal. Or ten.

A loud screeching shriek echoed through the alley as Vanitas caught another cat by the back of the neck and lifted it up, smirking as his mandibles clicked together when the feline hissed at him and struggled to get away.]

Too bad I'm getting paid otherwise it might be fun to drop you on someone. [The cat swiped at him and the arachne snickered, lifting the cat in preparation to bite.]


[C. Fireworks - August 21st]

[The first crack of fireworks has Vanitas stopping dead in his tracks, both sets of eyes snapping up towards the sky. Another firework goes off and lights up the sky and an odd shiver goes through the arachne as he watches the sparks stream down through the sky.

The last time he'd seen fireworks was when Kaede had...when he'd had to take her over.

Vanitas sneers and looks away as another explosive lights up the night sky, the Arachne continuing his trek down the path both weaving and shoving his way through the crowd.

There had to be somewhere he could escape the noise.]

[Chara was honestly happy to just let the cats do whatever they pleased. People had their homes and shelter to move in to if they wanted, and the cats couldn't really bother them there. Let the cats have the streets.

They aren't surprised to find that people have taken up the offer of trying to get rid of the cats. This manner of getting rid of them though, that's sort of a surprise.]

You know, if you're hungry they have a whole area for food.

EXPOSITION OF THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHT/MOGNET EXPOSITION
Yes, Zelgadis decided to come, even if he thinks this is a trap. Because he'd rather see what information he could get from it than be blindsided by an Empire. So he's carefully walking the exhibits, his Moogle trailing, making notes.

"You know, you could take pictures," Mogesta said. "Instead of trying to draw everything. Your iMog Slater has the ability to scan documents and take notes."

"Why didn't you tell me this before today?" Zelgadis said.

"You never asked."

ARDYNIAN DISCOVERY

"Put. The. Hat. Down," Mogesta said.

Zelgadis had been browsing shops, and had just picked up a fedora.

"Why must you make such terrible fashion decisions?" Mogesta wailed.

... All right, now Zelgadis was tempted to get the damn hat just for spite. Even if he did look very dumb in it -- most hats were not designed to sit properly on wire hair.

Exposition of the Festival of Light
[To say he wasn't interested in what the museum is a gross understatement. While Keith is new to this planet, he has a need to learn all he can both as a leader and to sate his own curiosity.

... Which means, yes. He may or may not be scanning the plaques and taking a few photos with his iMog. Leave it to the space ninja in order to find that particular application without even asking about it. Especially the prototypes for Magitek Armor and the broken fragments. Even despite the casual attire, he can't just turn off his honed instincts that this might be important later.

It's when he gets to the Eidolon section that he pauses, noticing the giant wings of the draconic god filling the background of the rest of the massive painting.]

Whoa. [His eyes widen considerably, taking in the images with both his eyes and the device in his hands. At least, until he gets to the graffiti. His gaze narrows in disbelief that someone would defame a work of art like this.] Aaand I'm guessing that's Ultros.

[He remembers that conversation on the airship well.]

[So far, he hasn't been surprised to see how eccentric the Moogle culture is. Living in a house with several of them has already taught him a lot, especially with how prone they are to strike if there isn't a certain amount of kupo nuts involved per day. That is, until he eyes Sven going through a booklet he can tell what it is even at this distance. It's been floating around the Ninth District so much that it would be a surprise if he didn't.]

[Sven does so immediately. Well that was the easiest negotiation ever. He hands him over a kupo nut before placing the rest of the bag on a satchel tied around the wolf's neck.]

Ardynian Discovery
[It took a bit of convincing to assure the driver that, so long as the wolf remained at his side, he would not chew anything. Or worse. Now was the best, and maybe the only time he'd get to check out the city of Ardynia, and he heard enough to be interested in it. Not because of the guilds there (for some reason, his wolf would not stop growling at the poor people in charge of the Jester Guild and they had to leave), but because of the pyramid in the distance.

Plus, he's no fashionista, but he's pretty sure hats like that went out of style centuries ago.

To most, he likely seems like the typical tourist walking with their pet (despite his wolf being very odd with his natural fur coloration), but sharp eyes take in the locations of interest as he passes. One hand casually hovering by his iMog resting in a pouch on his belt. He may not be able to get inside with his currently available skills, but he'll at least get a look at the exterior and the murals of the old legends.]

[ Even though these things did not necessarily apply to Sora he was still personally invested due to the fact that Nunumu, his partnered moogle, would benefit from all of these cool things here! Nunumu was such a cool and snarky lil dude. The moogle enjoyed a lot of different things and Sora was just pleased as peach to get to spend some time with him and get to know him! Especially in a district that was basically dedicated to the moogles of this world. The both of them zipped every which way and focused on vendor after vendor. The exposition had a ton of material that Nunumu and Sora both wanted!

The thing that he noticed about Nunumu was that he enjoyed walking a lot, he could fly of course, but the little guy really enjoyed just using the good old ground. Which brought Sora to the vendor who was selling shoes for moogles. ]

Yes, this… this is exactly what you need! I mean come on! Look at these!? They light up!

[ By the time they finished there, Nunumu had opted on a pair of shoes that were a shade closer to the color of his pom pom! ]

Hey? … What do you got there?! [ Sora called out to the other moogle who had just put down a book. It was then he realized he knew the person next to the moogle as well! What he wasn’t familiar with was the giant dog? … creature? ] Hi Keith!!

A. Third District
[He knows he's out of sorts but he can't afford to let it slow him down. They hadn't had time to do more than pile into the airship and head away from the dream width. He'd pulled on his Garrison uniform he'd retrieved what felt like a lifetime ago. It's a little tight but it fits exactly as it should.

That's more comforting than he ever knew it could be.

Shiro walks slowly through the halls taking in the relics. Pieces of tech that can't be fixed are set beside fragments that look like they once belonged on weapons. He pauses at intervals to take it all in. This is history in the way he can understand it best. He's quiet, not speaking at all until he reaches the painting of the Eidolons. His eyes widen as it dawns on him they're all there. Even ones they haven't seen.]

...Are all the names here? [He steps closer to it and scans the painting looking for anything he can find and his brows come down, his shoulders slightly raising.]

Of course, Ultros would deface this.

The Opera

[When he'd heard about the opera, "A Goddess's Tears" he had to come to see it. It's a creation myth they might not get the chance to see again. He hadn't ever had the time in his life to sit and watch an opera or a show in this way. He'd been too busy reaching for the stars in any way he could. Then it was surviving. Fighting a war.

It's an experience that catches him entirely by surprise. Watching movies and seeing tv shows, even news reports is different from watching actors on a stage performing with all of their heart.

He stares. Despite himself, it reminds him of the Voltron Show. But the purpose of this telling is different from retelling the lives of five people in a war. Yet the end goal is the same, to tell a story and inspire people. When it's over he claps along with everyone else, his thoughts swirling in circles. He moves carefully, pausing at the end of an aisle.]

Wait for most of the crowd to pass, then go. [He says to the person behind him as he moves to let them pass. He fully intends to let people go while he waits for his own moment. He needs to regroup with the others and discuss what he saw.]

Housing

[Shiro sets his duffle bag down on the bed in their assigned housing and notes where everyone is. Keith is primarily the lead but in a way, he supposes he's stepped up a little higher into Allura's former position. He has the contacts, the funding, and experience to guide and give advice. It's not so bad. He's still part of the team.

Shiro sighs. Their team needed to double up to get everyone into two houses. He'd looked to Keith. They know each other's secrets and there won't be any unpleasant surprises while they share space. Anyone dropping by to visit Team Voltron and co will find him prowling through both houses, taking a look at the main areas and on the street.

His brow is often furrowed as he studies and observes anything going on around him.]

[It turns out cats absolutely love him. He's covered in them. Their rumbling purrs and meows are so loud he has to raise his voice to be heard.] What? No. I-

[He closes his eyes and turns his head to the side with a heavy sigh of annoyance. He ignores the cats dangling from his arm like colorful fuzzy tassels. One kitten takes this chance to climb up and burrow up against his neck. He's given up trying to get them off.]

I'm looking for the Archaeologist guild. No, you can't pay me to take these guys off your hands. I don't-

[Another sigh, his shoulders coming up and cats climb up his back making him wince. ]

How about this. I'll take them to the Catmancer guild. They can deal with it and you'll still be free.

[The cats cuddle closer to him, twinning around his legs, and curling up on top of his boots. He puts just enough of a plead into his voice.]

Housing

[Keeping the most paranoid of the bunch under one roof was probably the best option. If only to keep an eye on and an ear out for them at night. Especially Hunk, after the conversation they had on the airship and how done he seems now that they're both back. Overall he let the others decide who they wanted to room with, but the suggestion lingered. It was still up to him and, hey, at least they aren't arguing over who gets the cow.

A lot happened the first couple weeks since the three of them arrived, and not all of it was good. He had to admit he is one of those who were among the more paranoid, especially after Shiro and Hunk had disappeared and left Adrien alone with three practical strangers. Not on purpose, he knows, but in a land that had been isolated until now and was being... oddly welcoming? It didn't sit well with him.

And, he looked right to Shiro as well. For the same reasons.

He rests his duffel bag on the floor before leaning against the wall, arms crossed. His wolf already moved to nudge Shiro's hand with his nose. That's a good sign, but...

They're gonna have a grand old time convincing the locals that he won't bite or chew up anything so long as he isn't alone, aren't they? And by "they", he means himself.]

Kupooooooo! There's so much here, kupo! [Mogila is clearly enjoying herself, if a bit overwhelmed by the number of things to see. Terra is, for the moment, just watching. She's been such a good partner, it's nice to do something for her for a change.]

Beastboy is beside himself with glee, eyes sparkling as he rushes from tree to tree checking out the decorations, zipping from stall to stall admiring the gifts.

"This is so unfair! Why do I gotta be so broke right before Christmas?!" He lamented as his moogle finally caught up to him.

"It's not Christmas yet! It's just a party. Anyway if you're a good boy and don't die I'll get you something nice on Christmas when it actually comes."

"Pft, I can't die like some NPC before the big final battle. What kind of noob do you take me for?" Beastboy shot back with a grin before swinging his guitar off his back and playing along with one of the carols in the air. His pointed ears wiggle as he keeps the beat and wanders towards the sounds of music.

Even Melody despite her usual grumpy nature smiles and starts to sing along with the tune. This almost causes Beastboy to drop his guitar.

"Dude...you have a really pretty voice!"

She squeaks at the compliment and pouts because he made her miss the next lyric. "Yeah well...I guess I'm glad my name's not ironic."

The two set back into the song with more gusto weaving through the hustling, bustling and unfortunately dressed crowds. Those fluffy santa outfits look WAY too hot.

"It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."

A beautiful wobbling pudding looking dessert sat before him on a platter. Decorated delicately with berries and drizzled with chocolate, a chilled tofu treat the likes of which Beastboy had never even dreamed.

"It's just a dessert your dork. Eat it before it melts."

Scooping up the plate and practically drooling Beastboy scurries back to the table he and Melody have commandeered and loaded up with a variety of vegan friendly options. Beastboy starts scooping up the dessert shamelessly while melody sips a bottle of something purple.

"You really have no ability to savor the moment do you? Gobble it up like that and it'll be gone before you know it."

"Wha?"

He turns to her, cheeks bulging and wobbling making a face that has her burst out laughing, almost choking on her drink. Care to join them for a snack?

Suddenly, cats. Cats everywhere.

Melody keeps her distance as best she can hovering over Beastboy's head as she can practically feel the cats starring at her puff ball. Beastboy however is swarmed by the beasts and is doing his best not to get bogged down as he explores the city.

"OK dudes this was cute at first but come on do I smell that good? I mean OK I know I look good even as a human but you guys should have seen my cat form. It was irresistible."

"I can't tell if you're flirting and I hate it." Melody chimed in making Beastboy look flustered.

"Dude no way! I'm just messing around I mean...look at these guys they're adorable! We are totally taking one home."

"We are absolutely not."

This bickering goes on for a bit as Beastboy steadily accumulates more cats following him down the street meowing affectionately. It's like a furry and adorable gang of street toughs looking for a rumble.

[I. Culinary Attractions] - August 18th
If there was one thing Roxas had learned from the two more recent worlds he'd been to, it was to never pass up free food. A new favorite pasttime of his was going to these sorts of things just to try new things and find new foods he enjoyed. He'd never quite realized how limited his diet had been until he arrived here in Vaikuntha. Ryslig was one thing, but before? Why hadn't he eaten more variety before?

"Have you tried this?" He excitedly asked someone nearby, holding up a mini quiche topped with bacon and chives. "It's so good! Salty and savory." As if he were some sort of culinary expert. Sometimes the kid just wanted to try to describe how he perceived things.


[II. Midnight Airship] - August 20th-24th
The first two nights had been hell. No one had told him this blasted place was going to have nightly fireworks. The first night he'd hidden in an alleyway and curled up on himself until it all stopped. The second he'd made certain he was in bed before the display began, but he could still hear it and sleep had been difficult even after it was over. Tonight he was getting the hell out of there, taking the party ship away from the city before the blasted blasts began.

The view was great, he couldn't deny, and standing at the railing with the wind in his hair made him feel almost like he was flying again. If only he could get a little higher... Heedless of his own safety, the young freelancer climbed the railing, perching precariously on top of it and staring down at the world below them. One wrong move and he'd fall, but that's not even on his mind right now.

That's only the first night. Any of the other nights he can be found wandering the decks, either bopping his head to the music (too shy to dance), or snacking on whatever the Hypello have to offer. For the most part Roxas is thoroughly ignoring the strange stalker.


[III. Sunny Starlight] - August 22nd
For as much as Roxas had tried to protest and say he wasn't a kid, people still treated him as one. Which, in this case, meant he was handed a wrapped box for the festival. After staring at it and giving a mild glare to the people responsible, he wandered away from the crowd to open the gift in relative peace. Imagine his surprise when from the box he drew a plush version of someone he vaguely recognized as having fought Sora a few times.

"What am I supposed to do with this?" he asked no one in particular, examining the Sephiroth doll in his hands.


[IV. Mognet Exposition] - August 23rd
A moogle expo might not be the most exciting place for a human to be. After all, Moogle culture wasn't human culture and Roxas was pretty sure he wasn't generally expected to know it at all. But... While he still hadn't met his moogle, he knew she was around, and he wanted to try to understand her a bit better. If nothing else, he wanted to be able to leave her gifts to thank her for her hard work.

The second reason was his new job working for the Mognet in Cloud City. If he was going to spend his days around all sorts of moogles, he might as well try to understand them at least a little bit.

"What is the purpose of a fake kupo nut?" he pondered as he viewed the display. "Is it bait?"

Of course Riku jumped at the chance to have his first ride on an airship. The city had had its own curiosities, but nothing that drew him in so much as the idea of flying and experiencing this place from a new perspective. It's that thought that draws him out to the deck, the evening wind whipping through his hair as he approaches the railing.

But his gaze doesn't linger very long on the view before it's drawn towards the other figure crouched atop the railing several paces away. A very familiar figure. For a split second he thinks that perhaps Sora had decided to join him on the airship after all. And then realization hits.

His other...Takeshi...had mentioned something about Roxas.

He clears his throat, not wanting to startle the other teen, but to announce his presence. The precarious position Roxas is in makes him hesitant to do anything that might send the other toppling over the side of the ship.

A. Midnight Airship

[ Ashelia stands on the outdoor viewing platform at the front of the ship, wine glass in hand and a fur draped ever so precisely around her shoulders. It may be the summer festival, but this high up, it's necessary. There's also, of course, the fact that it's hamster fur, a conversation piece that's already helped her secure several mercantile contracts. It was doing its job. ]

[ Of course, once the business is taken care of, there's still a good amount of time to enjoy the fireworks and look over the city, so that's what she does. She knew that Sen Riqeaux was Aqures Ixen as soon as she stepped off the transport from the Curti Center, but she'd kept the thoughts at bay for the most part, focusing on the job at hand. Now, though, looking over the city and seeing all the landmarks, it's impossible to ignore. Her eyes glisten, but she doesn't cry. In a way, she's happy to be back. ]

Kuja didn't find any particular magic in fireworks (they're just explosions, people, honestly), but the opportunity to go on an airship ride that would almost certainly prove illuminating to his concerns about this city that he can't help but go. He'd spent a not-inconsiderate amount of time mindlessly exchanging pleasantries with people who clearly didn't have any of the answers he wanted, and was just beginning to contemplate taking a swan dive off the side if this Hypello would not cease its prattling this instant when he spots a familiar face. An escape!
"Goodness just look at the time I'm late for a meeting so sorry to cut and run goodbye."
He joins Ashe by the railing, having eschewed his bolero for a more formal affair. "You know, this is the second time I've stumbled across you, next to a balcony and clearly in need of a means to vent. What's troubling you this time, Alma?"

Orcelito staggers out of the guild at his Moogle’s guidance, her paw on his back because his concept of reality is no longer certain that he is exiting the building. They both need a moment to breathe, to make sure the here and now is still… there. And once Orcelito is settled on a bench, his hands are over his face and his shoulders are shaking with strained laughter.

“Did that make sense to you?” He asks. Mari shakes her head. “It was incredible.” He catches his breath and pushes his bangs back. They both stare at the sky while Orcelito makes up his mind. “Do you think they’ll let us see more? Maybe even….” He meets her gaze, and her dark eyes widen as she catches on.

Stacking Tactician with Time Mage… Oh, the possibilities….


II : Study Session

In a quiet café open in the evening at Sen Riqeaux, a Moogle flies past carrying a cup of black tea. She navigates empty tables and chairs to a blond boy sitting within a semi-circle of tablet, books, and hand-written notes. Mari places the cup in a clear spot and sighs. “You shouldn’t stay this late, kupo.”

“Mari, we don’t know if we’ll be able to come again so… we have to make the most of it.” He takes a sip of the tea – it’s bracing – and gives his teammate a smile. “Besides, I do some of my best work at night! Pass me the notes we took on the statues, will you?”

I. Festival of Light

Prompto walked along the wall, looking at the paying, the representation of the Eidolons. They looked familiar, some of them, and he thought that was interesting. The Astrals were here?

Was it blasphemous to dislike them? Probably. They probably needed all the luck they could get, and Noctis needed their help.

It was probably worth a prayer, to ask for them to watch over them, so he did that, briefly lowering his head. Please protect them.

II. Chocobo Races

Was there any doubt, that Prompto would not find his way there? He was not the best racer, but he was definitely going to be the best spectator. It was a special occasion, and he had a big bag of popcorn and he had found some kind of noisemaker.

"Go! Go! Go!" He cheered. It didn't matter which bird one, they were all amazing! (Oh, and the riders too, he supposed.)

III.Mini Sparks Golsaucia

Prompto just grinned and looked excited, a sparkle in his eye as he spoke to the shopkeeper.

"How many shots do I need to make to win the giant plush?"

It didn't matter what the answer was, Prompto offered up his money and cocked the gun.

He was going to go for it - after all a gigantic chocobo plush was on the line and all he had to do was shoot.

IV. Fireworks

He hadn't seen fireworks in some time, so the first night it was amazing, his eyes were wide as he watched the beautiful explosions of colour in the sky. He sat on a grassy spot and leaned back on his hands, just watching, amazed. He wasn't going to get sick of them, not for a moment.

I. Midnight Airship

Regis was leaning against one of the windows, eyes out into the starry night... or, rather, the ground. The darkness concealed much, but not all. One of his own personal missions for himself during this trip was reconnaissance, and seeing the ground from the air - even at night - seemed like a start in one direction, on that.

However, the moment anyone approached him, his eyes would alight on them, and his smile widen, ready and easy and innocent.

"Good evening. How are you enjoying the flight?"

II. Chocobo Races

Some people who had still mostly known Regis in his later years may be quite surprised, but those who'd gotten to meet him here (introduction by Gauntlet fame, in particular) or had known him at twenty probably weren't. Because Regis raced as many times as he was permitted. Different chocobos, too, making sure none of them got too exhausted by the strain.

He, himself, on the other hand, could be seen bright-eyed and flushed between the runs, whether he'd won or not. The race itself was too good, too much of a high, for the victory to matter. Or... the lack of it to be upsetting, at least.

III. Housing - arrival (For housemates)

Regis frowned a little as he made his way around the common areas of the house they had been assigned to. There was... a feeling of the house being lived-in, not new or long-abandoned. Or at least he thought so.

"Do you think they displaced people from these houses just so we would have a place to stay?" That... sounded very dictatorial. "Think they'll be all right?"

Because that mattered the most.

IV. Housing: General.

It wasn't something Regis explicated a lot, but anyone who seemed like they were lost for what to do might get a hint that they were welcome at Regis's housing, a couple of hours every evening. Apologies, Clarus and Cor, but it was a way for people to have a place that was at least marginally seemingly safe to mingle and to rest, without having to stay alone in one's house, locked with thoughts that might not be always welcome.

Anyway. He was going to manage to provide food, and if anyone was willing to discuss findings, well, he was going to listen and share his own, in turn.

And, after his visit to Parasraya, there may be at least one kitten, small and clumsy, around the house, as well. Safe, too.

V. Ardynia.

Have one (1) Prince Regis Lucis Caelum, already arriving in the city in suspense, just trying not to stare at all the fedoras.

It was a losing battle. He found a relatively private space to groan and bury his face in his hand.

"Oh, Six. Really?"

With all that he had learn about Ardyn Izunia...

Astrals, he hoped Noctis had won against his own curiosity. Or something along those lines.

The state of the houses certainly was suspect. As much as Clarus was uncomfortable coming into this event in the first place, now he was doubly uncomfortable and on edge.

"We can only hope and remain cautious," Clarus said solemnly. More than likely, he and Cor would not be sleeping much this trip, which wasn't really an issue. They'd pulled maneuvers like this before, taking shifts to see their king safe. In this case Clarus had resolved to do his best to keep as many safe as possible, should the need arise. Regardless, a long week was ahead of them.

"Perhaps we'll find out," he suggested, opening a cupboard to snoop a bit into the lives of whoever had lived here before. "Discreetly, of course."
