When you walk into the quaint looking café, maybe the scene that greets you wasn't exactly what you were expecting. Not the soft music overhead or the smell of old and new books that line the shelves... that's all pretty standard seeming. It's the makeshift banner that looks as though it was put together in a manner of minutes reading, “ℋAPPY ℬIRTHDAY ℳAKOTO—” that looks rather out of place.
There are a few tables lined with some food and drink, water, juice, tea and coffee— just the basics really. Only a little further down are some baked goods that could easily be mistaken for delicious cupcakes. Unfortunately, on such short notice and even shorter funds... the only thing Ren could come up with were some Kupo-Nut Cakes... if you're willing to try one though, you may just find yourself with a Guts +1 boost.
Well, at least the coffee seems decent.

Considering the story that you're about to tell, I would think that the beginnings would be the best place to start. And I can think of no better place to begin than the decision that lead you to become a space explorer in the first place.

It was an accident. I actually wanted to stay planetside. [ Which he follows up with a shrug. ] My squad in the Galaxy Garrison, which is an international prep school for military astronauts, got roped into a weird rescue mission, that ended up with us on the other side of the universe in an ancient spacefaring robot lion.
[ And then he chuckles, this time. ] It's all worked out well enough, but I didn't ask for any of this.

You mean to say that your adventures were an accident?
I had no idea! You always seemed so... confident in being a space explorer I had thought that was something you always knew you would do.

[ He rolls his eyes. ] It almost makes up for stuff trying to kill us all the time. And weird space magic. [ But then he catches himself, and just chuckles sheepishly. ]
That's not to say I don't like being a Paladin. I do, but I didn't start that way.

That's interesting... and surprising. From the way you described everything, I would have thought that this was a lifelong ambition of yours.
[And since choice had always been the struggle that Makoto faced with, she had to ask Hunk one big question:] If you were to do it again... but given the choice this time. Would you?

[ Both trips to the Balmera. The scaultrite lenses. The weblum. The attack on the comm relay. Even the diplomatic meetings! ] I never really wanted to go to space, but I'm lucky because my Lion likes the ground, too. And that he's covered in super-strong armor. Makes the whole "catfights in space" thing a little less stressful.
[ And then he smiles, ready for the next question. ]
