Warnings/Notes Please feel free to post your own top-levels! Food(?), beverages and... books? Are here for everyone to enjoy during the get-together! Just... don't touch the books unless your hands are clean. (We don't want to cause a scene. Yet.)

When you walk into the quaint looking café, maybe the scene that greets you wasn't exactly what you were expecting. Not the soft music overhead or the smell of old and new books that line the shelves... that's all pretty standard seeming. It's the makeshift banner that looks as though it was put together in a manner of minutes reading, “APPY IRTHDAY AKOTO—” that looks rather out of place.

There are a few tables lined with some food and drink, water, juice, tea and coffee— just the basics really. Only a little further down are some baked goods that could easily be mistaken for delicious cupcakes. Unfortunately, on such short notice and even shorter funds... the only thing Ren could come up with were some Kupo-Nut Cakes... if you're willing to try one though, you may just find yourself with a Guts +1 boost.

Well, at least the coffee seems decent.

"Thanks for the reminder, Niijima-san. I guess I'm just used to more straightforward things back home. I mean, yeah, swordcraft is a complex art that takes years to master, but it's nothing compared to this." Connie sighs. It was going to be rather hard to explain to somebody who didn't have hundreds of years of accumulated magiteknical knowledge dumped into their brain by a magical glowing light, but she could try. Hopefully she wouldn't sound too much like an idiot.

"The thing is, all that stuff I was talking to you about earlier are the fundamentals. The gunblade is the only piece of magitek that's just given to you. You have to figure out the rest by yourself through experimentation. At least that's what they told me. This might be some elaborate hazing ritual, telling the new girl that she can't ask for help building dangerous, unstable weaponry no matter what."

"Oh." Well, that certainly put Makoto in her place.

"...with a school like that its a wonder that anyone lives to be magitek instructors." Seriously, what were they thinking?

"I don't think there are instructors. Just people who managed to survive long enough to build Magitek Armors and show it off to all the newbies so they can leech off their ideas. That's how academia generally works in my world, anyways, except with theses and grants instead of mecha," Connie remarks dryly.

"Not... where I'm from." Which was true, to some extent. While there was some things that she wasn't particularly proud of, Makoto certainly did value her education. Perhaps Connie was from one of those disruptive worlds where something went wrong. There seemed to have been quite a few which only made her all the more grateful that the Phantom Thieves were able to prevent such a disaster.

"Is there... anybody that you could talk to? I know its only been a short time, however..." If there was anybody else that she valued more than her education, however, it was her friends. They were able to move her past the one-track worldview that she had. Hopefully Connie had done the same. If not... well, that was at least something she could work on.

Makoto probably had a point. Papyrus could probably help, if no one else. Still, though... "Honestly, spite alone is making me want to do this myself just to prove a point to the people at the guild. I know that isn't the healthiest mindset, but it--and scientific curiosity--are what keep me going."

"Anyways, um, enough of this heavy talk and go ahead and open up your present!"
