Some Fun While the Sun Shines [Backdated Cast Log]
Who: The FFXV cast and YOU!
When: End of June thru July 12th
Where: Ka'Pandol and the general Yun'Ashia area. Other locations will be added as needed.
What: The FFXV cast relax after the events that occurred in Ka'Pandol, enjoying the summer weather while things return to being peaceful...for now.
Warnings/Notes: References to alcohol/drinking, other warnings will be added as needed.
I - Gods, What a Day... [Ka'Pandol, end of June]
The flooding of the underwater city could've been worse if the otherworlders hadn't agreed to help. Those of House Eos aided their fellow otherworlders wherever they could - either by reaching the underwater levers, or helping with evacuating the civilians.
However, none of them expected to run into this world's version of the one they call 'The Tidemother'. Not many of their number has many happy memories, if any, related to that being. Thus, once the worst has passed and all dangers have passed, one could find them at this bar or that establishment, reaching for a bottle or two.
Though they would not refuse anyone that wish to join their company.
II - Pastoral Rhapsody [Yun'Ashia, July]
Home still calls, though, and it's not long before one could find the Eos House back on the farm that they recently purchase. One would think that it's just yet another chocobo farm, since there seems to be several chocobos living there now. Several sections of land are being tilled for various sundry plants, and the fence that divided the once-two properties is slowly being taken down to formalize the new, larger farm between the two houses. Guests are always welcomed at either of the large homes that they now own...
Dawn training, however, continues to fill the air with the sound of spells cast and wooden weapons clanking loudly against each other. They apologize in advance to any neighbors that might still be within hearing distance of them.
III - Surf's up! [A beach within the Yun'Ashia area, July]
A day does come, though, when they do decide to go back into the water.
Or at least, to the water's edge. The summer weather has finally gotten to them all, and it soon became too much to resist. Thus, on one of the less crowded beaches near Yun'Ashia, one could find a certain group setting up their beach blankets and stripping down to their swimsuits. There's food packed in picnic baskets and plenty of sunscreen thanks to Certain Concerned Individuals. Nothing but fun, sun, and surf...and maybe some additional company. What could go wrong?
IV - Wildcard

If I wanted to swim, I'd likely have to lose the arm, too.
[If he keeps to where he can stand, he would only have to worry about salt water affecting the mechanisms inside. He'd been reassured that the unit was essentially waterproof, but he did not want to risk putting it to the test.
...and if he tried to actually swim, the weight of it might drag him down.]
Unlike you, I do not tan. I burn. If it's to happen, I'd rather it only on my arms.
no subject
You worried someone would come take it or mess with it? I don't think anyone is that stupid. [Gladio does tend to believe the best of people, and he knows any one of their group would intervene if a stranger did so much as walk too closely to their things.]
That's why we put the sunscreen on, Ravus. So that you don't burn. [He tries, and utterly fails, to hide the teasing smirk spreading across his face.]
Gotta reapply a lot, especially with skin as fair as yours.
[He's (regrettably) finished working on Ravus' toned arm, his hand lingering a second or two before finally pulling away.] Well, there y'go. Don't forget your face - that sunhat'll only do so much.
[Gladio shifts a bit, moving his legs around as he gets ready to stand. He has a bit more of the shoreline to cover before he'll head into the water and he wants to join in the ocean fun while the others are still energetic enough. But he'd forgo the rest of his search if Ravus shows an interest in hitting the water...]
no subject
[Without the magitek prosthetic, Ravus is literally disarmed. He isn't able to fight, wouldn't even be able to swim if he were to be pulled under somehow. He won't make himself helpless just because it is hot out and the water would be refreshing.]
Besides, if I were to get in the water right after I put the sunblock on, it would all just wash off anyways.
[He mostly adds it to move them away from the topic of physical vulnerability.]
no subject
I'm hoping to find some driftwood. Planning to make a chess set for you and Iggy - seems like something you guys could bond over. [It's something he's been thinking of since he first realized he truly wanted to court both men. He figures they're both brilliant strategists and might even enjoy playing one another. Astrals know Iggy could use a challenge.]
Thought your opinion could help. But if you're not interested I guess I'll keep lookin' on my own.
[He could leave it at that and go on his way, but Gladio apparently doesn't know when to stop. So he tries a bit of honest flirting in the hopes of convincing Ravus to don more sunscreen and join him at the water's edge.] Shame I'll miss the best view on the beach.
no subject
Why would I strip if I weren't planning on swimming? [Just because Gladio parades about without a shirt does not mean that it is normal behavior. Most people need a reason to take off clothes.]
...if it is for Ignis, I might assist. Why would you make a set, though? Do they not sell them here? [Ravus hasn't looked, so he is not sure if chess is something the Vaikunthans know of.]
no subject
[He stares a little into space, face lost in a thoughtful look, as he opens up about why he wants to make a set.] I don't know if they sell them here... but there's something about making a gift by hand... [He's blushing now.]
Thought it might be more special for both of you if I made the board and the pieces.
[Saying it out loud sounds even sappier but it's no secret that he's a romantic.]
no subject
...I will risk it. [There are other people on this beach who have not seen him shirtless before, and will not today. Gladio will have to survive with just the view of sky against ocean.
He walks ahead of Gladiolus when he begins talking about his damned handmade gifts, because he absolutely does not want Gladio to see his face. Ravus isn't sure precisely what emotions are playing across it, but he's sure Gladio would jump to conclusions if he saw them.]
I have no use for such sentiment. [It would probably be more believable if he was able to look Gladiolus in the eye and say it in a level voice. Instead, it comes out like a protest.]
no subject
But he knows Ravus has a soft spot for some things. The Tenebraen Prince might be a tough cookie to crack but Gladio's seen glimpses of the man underneath the tough exterior and he knows.
Time to do a little light teasing.] Really? Damn, guess I'll have to think of somethin' else for ... eh, doesn't matter anyway.
[He lets a tinge of disappointment tint his tone, but erases it as quickly as it manifested.] Humor the sentimental sap here an' let me know if you see any good lookin' pieces anywhere?
no subject
He finds a knotted tangle of wood in the sand and seizes it, not surrendering it to Gladio. He brushes the sand off of the driftwood with his right hand, trying to look it at and see a chess piece within. He can't see how Gladio will get anything from this particular scrap (it just looks like...wood), so he drops it back into the sand.]
What if you cannot find enough for a set?
no subject
Despite the man's clear dismissal of that particular chunk, a smile tugs at Gladio's lips - any spark of interest worked for him.] If that kind of sentiment isn't your thing I'll have to think up somethin' else to give you for Christmas in July. I think they call it the Starlight Festival here...
[His voice trails off as he bends over to examine a piece floating on the water's edge. It's quite lovely, bleached to near-white already and almost perfectly smooth. Holding it with one hand, Gladio checks it over for any sign of critters or barnacles and lightly runs his fingers along the worn-down grain.
With a hum of approval he turns back to Ravus and answers his question.] If I can't find enough I'll have to improvise. Thought the driftwood could make a nice set but some other lightweight woods might be decent substitutes if needed.
[Gladio has given this a lot of thought. It's what he does when planning gifts, especially gifts he intends to make himself.]
no subject
[If Gladiolus expects anything from Ravus on this non-Starlight day, he will be disappointed. Ravus will make an effort to give gifts to those he cares about on the actual Christmas day and on birthdays. The rest of the manufactured holidays, he steadfastly ignores.
Ravus keeps walking. He uncovers a dark knot of wood with his toes and picks it up. He still isn't sure what Gladio is looking for, but he tosses it at the Shield.]
There. See if that will serve for a pawn.
no subject
And it's only nonsense to you. Some of us like showing appreciation and affection on random pseudo-holidays.
[His grin belies his lack of actual irritation and he casually walks a little closer.] Don't worry - I'm not expectin' anything. Not from you or anyone else.
[He runs his fingers over the pieces in his bag, mentally mapping his intended creations. Amber eyes glitter with the excitement of making something from these forgotten bits of wood and he takes his gaze from Ravus to look at the sea.]
I guess I just like giving what I can to people, especially my friends. So any holiday, real or silly, is a good excuse to gift things.
no subject
You should not wait for excuses to appreciate the ones you care about. We have little enough time, and it can be cut short all too soon.
[He had tried to wait until he had found a way to save Lunafreya before he made the attempt to reconcile the differences between them. Ravus had been a fool.
He keeps walking.]
no subject
After a few moments of silence, to give Ravus time to return his mind from where it went to where they are, Gladio softly speaks.]
I show the people I care about how much I appreciate them every day, mostly through little things. Like hugs or other physical stuff, friendly shoving and high fives and shit like that. Sometimes it can be with words too, or smiles. The holidays and birthdays just let me give them meaningful gifts, things that I can't really give on a daily basis.
[He pauses, not sure how well his next words will be received.]
Can't say I knew Lady Lunafreya well, or at all really. But from what I heard of her, from everything she did and how her words in that shared notebook always brought light back to Noct's face ...
She knew you still loved her, Ravus. And I'm positive she still loved you too. Little sisters always know - especially when your little sister is the Oracle.
[Gladio comes up to Ravus' side, putting his lover between him and the ocean, to act as a barrier keeping him from view of anyone on the beach. And if he lets his hand brush against Ravus' that's for the sea to know.
Ravus deserves some semblance of privacy when he ruminates on his lost sister, and Gladio does his best to give him that even when all he wants is to pull him in a gentle embrace.]
no subject
Had Lunafreya known? He had played the part of traitor brother well...so well that she had not hesitated to make her escape with Regis while Ravus lay collapsed in the Lucian throne room, burned by the Ring. There had been no turning back like she had that long-ago day in Tenebrae. Part of the distance he had put between them had been to ensure that she would not have to sacrifice herself for his sake a second time, but that memory still felt like a knife wound in his chest.]
You speak of things you do not know.
[But there is a sort of comfort in Gladio's faith, the insistence that Ravus was not forsaken. He doesn't immediately slap the hand away.]
I was able to meet with her, before she awoke Leviathan. What misunderstandings there were between us, we put aside. It was so little, at so late an hour, but I can hope it was enough to reassure her that I had not abandoned her.
T_T at that icon </3
She knew. [He reaffirms his earlier words, wanting Ravus to believe them.]
Hell, I'm sure she always believed in you - believed that you were trying to protect her. I bet she prayed to the Astrals for you too, asking them to keep you safe and probably telling them that she knew you hadn't abandoned her. [A gentle squeeze to Ravus' hand.] Her heart was larger than all of Eos, I think, and with a big heart comes a huge capacity for forgiveness and understanding.
[Worried that he's overstepped, Gladio starts loosening his hand in an attempt to extract it from Ravus'. He's tried to keep his eyes focused on the sand, at least, only half-looking for driftwood and mostly trying to not look at Ravus as he opens up about this.
But damn it takes everything Gladio has not to pull him close, to press a soft, reassuring kiss to those down-turned lips.]
no subject
Lunafreya was the best of all of us.
[He keeps walking down the shore.] We had best keep moving if you plan to find enough pieces to complete your set before we lose daylight.
[In terms of segues, it is not going to win any awards for subtlety.]
no subject
He follows behind Ravus and keeps his eyes open for any other promising pieces. His hand wraps around the one in his satchel - he knows exactly what this one will be used for. As they walk, Gladio spots a few good gnarls here and there and puts them in the satchel with the first.
The sun beats down relentlessly and the ocean breeze does little to ease the burning heat. And if Gladio in his shirtless glory is starting to feel warm, Ravus must be baking.] Hey Ravus, fancy a dip now?
no subject
I suppose.
[He strips out of his shirt reluctantly, replacing his sun hat to keep his head shaded. He wades out to about waist-deep, keeping his magitek arm above the waves. It does feel cooler out here.]
no subject
He wants to see how those stunning eyes look in the sunlight. So he dives under the next swell and comes up behind Ravus.] Still lookin' a little over-heated. I can help with that.
[There's no other warning as Gladio wraps his arms around Ravus' midsection and, with a grunt of effort, lifts and tosses him into slightly deeper water.]
no subject
You'll pay for that! [And he tackles Gladio, hoping to knock him off balance and dunk him in return.
If Gladio's aim was to distract Ravus from his melancholy thoughts, it worked. His focus has narrowed to one thought- vengeance for this heinous act.]
no subject
He coughs when he resurfaces, smiling all the while. At least Ravus doesn't have that far-off look in his eyes anymore, though he's not sure if the current murderous look is really an improvement...] That all you've got?
[With graceful strokes, Gladio swims a little further out and decides to taunt Ravus.] Come and get me, droopy!
[And if his tongue pokes out, it's totally only to remove some remaining salt water from his lips and not at all part of the teasing.]
no subject
Stop running, you brat!
[Ravus doesn't swim -it's not something he's practiced since he was a child, and the only time he's done so since receiving his new arm was with the aid of the Ka'Pandol merchant's air tank- but he stomps through the water after Gladio. It is deeper than he wanted to go, but vengeance must be had.
IfWhen he catches up to Gladio, he's going to make him regret it.]no subject
But you're so cute when you chase me!
[Gladio sends a splash Ravus' way for good measure, knowing that he'll likely be in serious trouble when the Tenebrean catches up to him ... which he totally isn't allowing by basically standing still.]
no subject
What sort of delusional degenerate are you?
[He keeps stomping toward Gladio, unwilling to turn back even though he's further in the water than he wants to be. Gladio's splashes drench him, leaving his dripping hair plastered to his face and the murderous expression growing.
When he gets close enough that he judges himself in range, he takes a leap to tackle the Shield. The water cuts down on his mobility, though, and he comes up short, arms brushing against Gladio's torso as he splashes down into the water.]
