One Cup-o-Kawhee, please!
Who: Ignis Scientia and anyone who drops by
When: Month of July
Where: Ignis' coffee shop "Cup-o-Kawhee", Yun'Aisha
What: Cleaning up, Opening day, Work days- Ignis is doing what he does the best: making and selling coffee and pastries
Warnings/Notes: None?
July 3rd
Continuation from Network:
Ignis takes away the slate from his Moogle and sighs loudly. "Please focus on cleaning," he asks Ebony who, in return, salutes him like a soldier and then flies off to the kitchen where the magic will happen in the future. There are boxes of ingredients to be put away, knives and rolling pins arranged in their proper places.
He leaves the slate aside and leans against the bar, rubbing the back of his neck. Was it smart to open a coffee shop like this? Sure, it will be a decent amount of income for the household, but, in the long run... when he eventually goes back to Eos, he will have to leave it behind.
Perhaps he will find someone to leave it to.
Leaving those thoughts in the back of his mind, he pushes away from the bar and picks up the box he previously placed on it. Just in time to hear the small jingle of the bell.
"Apologies, we're not open yet."
July 5th
Opening Day:
In front of the shop, there is a nice, big sign that says:
"Opening day!
First Cup-of-Kawhee 75% off the price!"
Ignis doesn't appear to be nervous, dressed in his barista outfit, standing behind the bar. But he never appears to be nervous, even when the situation is really stressful. He places a cup down for a customer who thanks him and takes a seat at one of the small tables littered around the coffee shop.
Deep breaths, Scientia.
Ebony is floating from table to table, wiping the surfaces, then floats back to the pastry and cake displays to wipe them as well. This time, the displays are showing off plenty of pastries and the cake display holds the "cake of the day"- =Blueberry Days=.
The jingle of the bell announces that someone entered the shop and Ebony is off already, greeting them!
One day he will teach his Moogle not to scare away his customers.
Rest of July
1)Any other day:
The coffee shop opens exactly at 8 AM every day except on Saturday when it opens at 9 AM, and Sunday, when it is a free day. Ignis is at the shop from 6 AM, making sure that the cake and pastries are ready for the sale, fresh and warm for the first customers.
Ebony is always in good spirits and does his best to help Ignis out in the kitchen. The Moogle can't cook, but he's quite adept at cleaning up, which saves Ignis a lot of work.
Throughout the day, Ignis manages the bar and when there aren't customers, he's looking at his slate and inbox, hoping to see if there is anyone interested in the job offers he placed the other day- a waiter and a barista/cashier. He wishes he could do all by himself but he can't cook and be in the front at the same time.
Rest of July
2)Any other day:
Bring in your own prompt here! Don't be shy! Anything else you want to play out at the coffee shop!!
Feel free to post top comments yourself!

"Yeah. For now, at least." They are rather close to the frozen north. He stands up after placing the paper into the box and slides it closer to Ignis. "What next?"
no subject
He puts the box on one of the tables, "We can bring the paper back home. It could be useful for camping or fireplace," Ignis says and goes around the bar. "Now, we have some ingredients to put away." And by some, he means a lot. There are stacks of boxes and containers in the kitchen.
no subject
Noctis pauses, giving Ignis a quizzical look. "And we left the moogles back there." Alone. Unsupervised. He remembers what happened at the bar last month, okay?
no subject
He's sentimental, alright? Sentimental and proud. Stop judging him.
"Didn't you tell me that Ivory was responsible?" Ignis asked with a little bit of dread in his voice. She wouldn't do him bad, would she? And with the same amount of dread, he opens the door to the kitchen.
no subject
That said, someone could probably commission someone to make something for him with the insignia on it. Hm...
"She is, but I'm wondering if she managed keeping Ebony reined in..." Because overeager moogle is overeager and always wanting to help. Also help himself to berries, he's come to find out (he's not much better, himself). That said, she's been eyeing a certain bottle lately.
He's finding out more about her than he ever wanted to know, to be honest. So, he follows Ignis into the back to find one exasperated Ivory hovering over Ebony and tutting at him.
'What did I say about sampling the produce, kupo? Leave some for opening- oh!'
no subject
And starts slowly backing away from the container. Luckily, from the first glance at it, only a handful of berries are missing, not half of the box. He sighs a bit irritable and walks over to pick up the box.
"Wash your hands and go wipe the dust off the windows."
Ebony was more than happy and with a scared squeak, he's gone to the washroom. Ignis places the box on the kitchen counter and sighs:"Perhaps opening this wasn't such a good idea after all." He takes a bowl with a firm lid and starts transferring the berries. "I'll go bankrupt before the shop even opens."
no subject
"Bit dramatic, don't you think?" Noctis asked, before picking up another box and starting to transfer that fruit. Thankfully, it appeared to be untouched. Besides, it was just a handful, but still...
He notices Ivory writing something down before she flutters out the front. He raises an eyebrow, but doesn't question it. He knows better than to do so with both her and Ignis looking as if a storm could hit any second. That storm being their tempers.
no subject
"So. Any suggestions on what else I should bring in?" He pauses for a second. "To make the place seem cozier, that is."
Translated: what should he do to make people think 'it would be nice to take a nap here'?
no subject
He pauses as he contemplates it a moment, humming as he places the container he was packing into the fridge. "Actually..." He starts, having contemplated bringing this up to them at some point, but was now really a good time? Eh, screw it. "I've been thinking of opening a place nearby. A hangout for locals and otherworlders alike." One where they could meet together that wasn't, well. The Center. "Kind of like a lounge with a nap corner? But with a meeting area upstairs."
The Curti Center, he knows, is supposed to be neutral ground, and yet... he has the feeling the others don't see it like that.
no subject
Only limit his intake of kupo nutbutter.
A lounge with a nap corner. That sounds so much like Noct it hurts. Ignis ponders for a moment, wondering where Noct could put his plan into work. "You will need a big space for that," Ignis says packing the flour bags in the cabinets. "Have you looked for the locations?" Not a lot of people like spending time at the Curti Center, Ignis included.
"There is some space on the second floor of this coffee shop that could be turned into a napping place," or secret hideout, "but I suppose you're looking for something a bit bigger."
no subject
It's a relief to know Ignis was already on the same page. He tries not to mention the fact that he'd been thinking about this for about as long as he'd been piloting, but... "I have. The place attached to here could work." It would need just as much in regards to renovating, not to mention cleaning. His nose itches at the thought of it.
"I figure a small library upstairs wouldn't be a bad idea, either." Especially for a secret entrance to a hideout. Cliche, but it works.
no subject
"I could help you set it up- once I'm done settling in here that is." Ignis pauses, looking a bit thoughtful. Then pushes himself away from the counter and crosses his hands.
"The information gathering is the real reason why I opened the shop in the first place," Ignis admits as he glances over at the counter where pots and pans are. "I realized how much traffic these kinds of places have. Looking back at our time on Eos, all of the information we gathered about the surroundings and what is going on in the world came from the fast food restaurants. I..." he hesitates for a moment, "...attempted to replicate it."
Only not as fast food chain and more something of his style.
no subject
"And not your love of beans?" He teased lightly. "Color me surprised." Except he isn't. At all. He still had to joke a little bit, though. It's in the little brother contract. Noctis grows a little more serious though, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Still gotta get the paperwork done. That, and," he frowns, "-I want to at least become a co-pilot first. Get a few more contacts around the world before I settle anywhere." Even if his lethargy doesn't approve of this. He's determined to at least make it that far. "Besides, what better way to spread word than a cup from here?"
Yes, that's his way of trying to support him. Free advertising.
no subject
He's done worse."I love the coffee, that is true. But I order it ground already." He gives Noct a bit of a teasing smirk with a quirked eyebrow, "I can't risk it being thrown out just because it has a word 'bean' in it." Yes, he's teasing you. What are you going to do about it?
"That sounds alright with me. If you need help with the paperwork, I can handle it." That what he's basically trained for. He might even haggle for the cheaper price on the price.
no subject
One of us... One of uuuuus..."Ugh, really should have seen that one coming." Seriously, when are they just going to... let it go? He rolls his eyes before getting back to work. At least for the time being. "Shame. Heard through the vine the beans themselves are cheaper in some cases." Also better freshly ground and roasted, but he doesn't actually know that part. Only rumors he's heard from people complaining about the coffee at the airport. "And I'll keep that in mind."
Like he wasn't already going to ask him to check and double check everything before he signs it.
no subject
"The roasting and grinding machine are a bit on the expensive side," Ignis says, putting things away. "Opening the shop is an investment in itself so I will have to wait for a bit before attempting to acquire those." Because yes, when you do it yourself feels somehow ten times better.
"In the meantime," Ignis pushes one of the boxes in the lower cabinets, "this will have to do."
no subject
Noctis pauses, and looks at Ignis. Was that a challenge he hears? Because he definitely could look up the price of the equipment if he wanted to~
He's pretty sure that is a challenge he can accept.
"Hm," he ponders on it, wondering just how much Ignis will flip if he did it. Maybe as a Starlight or birthday present? Decisions, decisions...
no subject
"Is there a problem?" He quirks his eyebrow as he hands Noct another box to put in the fridge. He's closest to it.
no subject
Abort, abort...!No, he can divert this. Make himself seem a little more innocent and totally not thinking of putting an entire month's salary into helping Ignis with his attempt at replicating the 'tipster' role back home.
"No, not really," he replies, taking the box and going to put it in the fridge. "Just debating what kind of theme for the lounge."
... Nailed it?
no subject
toostupid."Hmm... I would recommend rustic, but that is more my style. You should organize it the way you like it," Ignis says.
Not really. He just choose to let it go.
no subject
"Maybe modern with some rustic flair, then." Clean but cozy. Unlike what his and Prompto's room is going to be with all the chocobo pictures. Please get Prompto a scrap book.
Astrals damn it, Iggy; he's been avoiding that joke nooooo.
no subject
"I wanted to incorporate a fireplace here, but the shop is too small." Perhaps he could do it in the lounge? Crackling fire puts everyone to sleep very fast. Also, Yun'Aisha is said to have very low temperatures in winter. It could be very useful.
Also, the joke- it had to be done.
no subject
"There was a decent spot I noticed on the ground floor." It'll take longer to open, but the payoff will be worth it. At least he thinks so.
no subject
"Then we could do it if you are up for it." The fireplace he means. It was just a suggestion, it's on Noct to decide whether he wants to install it or no.
no subject
"I'll think about it. Still got plenty of time." Said the man before he jinxed himself.
