What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as non-crazy less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

[ Tark Varentain: Gunslinger Guild ]

[ One of the larger practice ranges has erupted into the sounds of gunfire. This might not be so unusual, but the speed of the shots and the frequency of dull thuds is a far cry from the masters' displays of skill.

Onlookers will see Hunk, wielding a giant gun, mowing down scores of practice dummies. The impressive thing is that he's not wasting many shots. In fact, he's aiming his shots with more speed than his frame would suggest, clearly aided by an asterisk he's testing out.

Click. Click click. ]

"Out of ammo! You didn't reload in time, and now you're dead."

Wh-what?! No! [ He pouts, and drops his Vaikunthan cannon with a whine. ] Why do they have to have ammo?

[ Hunk had resigned himself to not riding a beast into battle, because then he'd have to feed it and take care of it on top of his moogle and his roommates.

But these chocobos were really, really trying to convince him otherwise. Despite Hunk showing no interest in the job, two chocobos had found themselves quite taken with him, and so he rests against a fence, two feathery heads nuzzling against and preening him. ]

A-aw, look! They really like me!

[ If he tried to ride one, could it handle his weight? And his gear? He doesn't want to hurt them... ]

( I'm focusing more on tagging out with this event, so this top-level isn't even the jobs he's getting, ie Gourmand and Magitek. If you have a fun idea, hit me up! )

Are you carrying food on you? -Cut to the quick, but now she had a sword to match the attitude, approaching the stables and Hunk from the direction of the Swordmaster guild. She finally had the three things that made her feel more at ease, combining that sword with some wine tied to her belt and a pipe and *something* to smoke tucked away in her kimono.

She was noticeably more comfortable in her walk as she approached, leading with her hips in a way that would almost make her look like a man if not for... obvious differences.-

Sure don't, Baiken! [ Hunk continues to giggle, not really caring that these precious bird-horses had all but pinned him to the wall ] The sign said to leave the food farther away, so I did.

Unless I have crumbs in my pockets? [ The chocobos don't seem to care too much about that, or if they do, they're playing a long game. ] What would you do if I brought these two home?

[ He sounds like he's asking a parent for a puppy. Pleading, almost. ]

I personally wouldn't care, but the other two guys seem a bit uptight for this kind of thing. -Baiken shrugged.-

Well, Shiro and I got to be around the space mice. [ Four space mice are in no way similar to a chocobo, and Hunk knows that. He's trying very hard. ]

Adrien might like it! He seems like a pretty cool kid. [ Hunk laughs, and the chocobos react by shifting themselves, so that they can get scratches on their other sides from this large human who is more than willing to oblige. That said, he knows how much work a chocobo could be just given the size, so... ]

Maybe I should get a plant instead? They're low-maintenance.

[garyoutensei]

-So it seemed less about the creature itself, and more having something to pour focus and affection onto. Well, besides the moogle, anyways. Baiken hummed for a moment...-

Why not a cat?

[ Hunk's eyes go wide with excitement and a childish grin creeps onto his face at the mention of a cat. They're really low-maintenance and really cute and- ]

Do... do they have cats here? [ He forces a laugh. ] I mean, I know they have horrible monsters.

[garyoutensei]

It's worth looking into...

... I like cats. -It was a subdued expression of interest, but it was still sincere. Cats were much less likely to be invasive of one's personal space, after all.-

[ Hunk's entire body perks up at the words. He notices, Baiken. You better believe he notices.

You like something, Baiken. So now you get to deal with Hunk, wide-eyed and grinning, still pinned between the wark-ing heads of two chocobos. ]

Cats are great. Did I mention I piloted a robotic space lion back home?

[ This is barely related, but Hunk needs to test the extent of pro-feline sentiment. ]

[ Ena has never seen a gun in her life, so out of pure fascination she spends some time at the gunslingers guild, watching new recruits practicing and the several demonstrations offered.

Oh, she recognizes that boy. What was his name again? Unusual human name, it was. Hank, or something?

It's at that moment she watches the duel, and it concerns her when she hears "you're dead." He doesn't look dead, but she wonders if guns have some sort of life-leeching effect that she can't see. When it's all over, she slowly makes her way over. ]

Hank, are you okay?

[ Hunk doesn't even notice that Ena butchered his name's one and only vowel. He's that bamboozled by having ammo limits. ]

Yeah, I just... my old gun didn't have ammo.

[ He sighs, and looks down at the ground. ]

I didn't realize how much I relied on that. So I don't know if I wanna risk it when I could get killed by horrible monsters because I run out of ammo.

[rivieran]

[ "Ammo" is a foreign word, but it sounds like a problem that needs dealing with. She crosses her arms and frowns in concern. ]

That doesn't sound very good. Is there anything you can do about that?

[chefbayardee]

Not use a gun, I guess.

[ He sounds disappointed. Very disappointed. ]

I definitely had other classes in mind, but I wanted to at least check.

[ He sighs. ]

Oh well...

[rivieran]

[ She doesn't quite follow, but it sounds important to Hunk, somehow. It's hard to sympathize with something she has almost no frame of reference for. ]

Then if a different class is all it takes to solve this problem, then there's nothing to worry about. [ She offers him a small, confident smile, hoping that will ease his worries somewhat. ] You have plenty of other options. Come now, let's not get in the way of the others that want to use the field. [ She motions with her head towards the sidelines of the practice range. ]

Yeah, you're right. [ As much as he doesn't want to admit it, hanging back and using a big gun just wasn't gonna work this time. So Hunk starts walking towards the sidelines, totally ignoring the giant gun he left on the ground. It was out of ammo anyway, so it was just dead weight. As he starts to walk, he looks back at Ena with a melancholy smile. ]

I was a pretty good shot back home, so I wanted to see if I could pick that up here. [ He shrugs. Disappointed, but the attachment to the issue quickly fades. ] But the Magitek Knight class has a sword with a gun in it, so that might be cooler.

[rivieran]

[ She follows him to the sidelines, and glances over her shoulder at the gun on the ground. He was just going to leave that there? She almost turned around to pick it up herself when a couple of other people came over to retrieve it. Ah, never mind then! ]

Are you proficient in swords, then? That sounds like it might be the right choice for you. [ a small nod. ] What other jobs are you planning on taking?

[chefbayardee]

Nope! Never touched a sword before.

[ Hunk sounds confident in his answer, as if this would be completely reasonable. ]

I figure I'll just use the gun part of the gunblade. That and the cooking job.

[ He takes a moment, struggling to remember the name. Chef Knight? Food Mage? And then his eyes light up. ]

Gourmand! That's the one. What about you?

[Kenichi was on his newly acquired chocobo when saw two of the birds by the fence.
Curious, he went over and laughed at the sight. The tiny chocobo chick that sat on his shoulder squeaked.]

They're really friendly and full of character, alright. It's no wonder this place loves them.

Oh man, you're actually riding one?!

[ Hunk looks overjoyed and just a little jealous. The two chocobos seem more than willing to smother that jealousy with more smothering attention, though. ]

Can... can they handle people riding them? [ Hunk sounds and feels silly for saying it, because chocobo-riding is obviously a thing in this world, but it's still just... bizarre to look at. ]

Like, is it hurt?

Well, you can't just simply jump on the back on any chocobo. They seem to choose who can ride them kind of like horses. It took me a while to find mine, but she made it clear that she picked me.

[The chocobo trills as she's being mentioned. Kenichi gets off and readjusts the simple saddle strapped to her.]

As for if it hurts, she hasn't tried to throw me off yet. As for me? Ask me tomorrow and we'll see. I haven't done riding like this in ages. I'm Kenichi, by the way.

Kenichi, they choose their riders? [ That's cool. Really cool. Like "domesticated fluffy bird-horses who are smart enough to be picky" cool. ]

What'd she do to pick you?

[ And Hunk just files away the fact that these birds can carry people without any clear stress. If the mechanics on those legs work out, then he's content with that, even though he's used to seeing four legs, like on a horse.

Or did you just know?

[He gives her a pat on the back when he's done. The chocobo chick hops onto Kenichi's shoulder.]

She did bail me out when I got mobbed by some overexcited chocobos. The guild wasn't kidding me when they said they love those greens. If that doesn't tell me she picked me, I don't know what is since I can't exactly talk to them. Plus, I think the little one's gotten quite attached to me.

[As if on cue, the chick chirped and fluffed its round yellow fluffy body even more.]

[ Hunk stares wide-eyed as the chick popped up and started fluffing himself, and his mouth starts to hang open just enough for a muted squeal to creep out. ]

D-do they all come with a little baby?

[ He chuckles, though it sounds almost like a gasp of disbelief. Getting swarmed by two chocobos was awesome enough, but more? And some of them have babies? Hunk might just die. ]

No, I just got lucky. Some of the people over at guild were a bit worried if I could handle two but I managed to convince them to let the little guy stay. Honestly, I couldn't bring myself to separate a mother and her chick.

[Kenichi laughs as the chick flies over to land on the closest fence post next to Hunk.]

Before you ask, yes, you may pet him.

Ohmig- Thankyou! [ Hunk can barely sputter the words out as he watches the chocobo chick fly and perch and-

He's very gingerly petting it, with just two fingers. The other chocobos that were so enamored with him, seeing how firmly his attention is stolen, start to back off. Hunk is unaware, and has locked his sights on the cutest thing he's seen in a long time. ]

So... what're you gonna do when the little one grows up? You can't ride two at once!
