What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as ~~non-crazy~~ less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

[ A – Hisan City ]

[It's strange how upbeat and normal this place – this whole world, really – is. Ryslig and Bavan too had had their own kinds of normal, but there had never been any forgetting the cruelty of that place, not with the Hunger and the Fog coming to haunt them all in regular intervals.

Hisan City almost reminds him a little of Heartland, really – peaceful bustling of people all around, people who probably have never wasted a moments thought on war before… he almost seems a little pensive as he orders a coffee, ignoring the vendor's praise of the different kind of blends that make his business unique… and maybe he regrets it moments later when he takes the first sips and ends up making a face – his drink packs a bit more of a punch than he's expected.]

…I guess, he wasn't kidding about his coffee.

[ B – Monk's Guild ]

[Shun watches the demonstration with sharp eyes, then clicks his tongue – looks like that mermaid hadn't been lying… this looks exactly like the offensive power he's looking for. He takes their asterisk the moment they allow for initiates, a little tense but patient enough through meditation as well as the yoga (He remembers the attempts back home to teach him both when he had learned what martial arts he knows from an older Resistance member. It's not his strong point, but he can bear).

Then, they offer him a sparring session to get used to his new strength… well, how can he say no to that. He stretches his arms, stance loose as he enters the ring and eyes his opponent.]

You better not be half-hearted about this.

[Because Shun has never even the slightest intention to go easy on anyone lacking iron determination and steeled strength.]

[ C – Yun'Ashia / Ranger's Guild ]

[It takes a while until the ship reaches Shun's other destination. In spite of the attempts of the locals to interest him in the one or other of their plays, he heads immediately for the guild and suffers through the demonstration in spite of already having made his decision.

Later, after having received the asterisk, he can be found at the practice range, trying to get used to bow and arrow… and clearly unpracticed (though maybe not quite unskilled). His expression is a twist between frustration and determination as he mounts one arrow after the other, and by the end of the day he does hit the target, even though not quite yet the bulls-eye.

He puts down the bow, and snorts to himself, reaching for the knife he's been given to start out with.]

I think I'll rather stick to knife combat.

[It's not what this class excels in… but Shun will make due, for now.]

[Makoto brought her arms in front of her and gave the boy before her a polite bow. It was etiquette, and she was treating this more as a demonstration than an actual fight to the death.]

[Makoto raised her gaze at the comment.]

Yes... but a reminder that this is a medium-contact sparring match. I hope for a good match.

[Still... the statement and the fierce look in his eyes made her feel wary. Perhaps she should be more on guard and see how he will approach the fight.]

[Shun doesn’t return the bow; for all that he had practice, he doesn’t care for polite gestures. To him, every match is a potential fight for his life… but he does remember boundaries, remembers teaching his sister and later in Ryslig Yuzu how to defend themselves; and that’s exactly how he plans to approach this fight too.

Nevertheless, he snorts:]

A stickler for rules, are you? It’s not going to help you out there.

[The battlefield is too unpredictable, to go by any rule other than kill or be killed.]

[Oh goodie. First time up and she gets this? Ugh. Well, there's nothing else to it but prepare for the worst.]

Hmpf. What's out there is out there, and in here is for training. But I guess you're not one of those types that makes that distinction, huh?'

Fine. But if you're not going to play nice, then don't expect others to do the same.

[Rather than go into the ready stance as they were taught, Makoto instead leans in more square. Her legs are set wide and bent. Her left arm was poised with just an elbow for defense while her right arm was poised behind her, ready to strike. She was NOT about to back down to some punk who took fighting WAY too seriously.]

Kupo, of course not.

[She's full of confidence! Of course, this job is her third choice of the main three she was eyeing at this point, but she wanted to be sure before she made her decision.

But as misguided as her little heart is, she's all in as she raises her little paws and settles into a fuzzy blob of a stance.]

[Shun frowns at the moogle – is she for real? Can he even take her truly seriously? – but decides not to say anything. Best not to underestimate the creatures of this dimension… maybe they aren’t quite as pathetic as they seem at the first glance after all.

And well… maybe her size is a disadvantage to him; he can’t just knifehand-strike her like he usually does. Oh well, he knows himself well enough; he isn’t about to lose to a fuzz-ball in hand-to-hand-combat of all things.

The moment the referee gives the signal, he is already moving, intent to strike Bonnie with his palm into her… well, more or less all of her?]

[Bonnie knows full well what she's gotten herself into, mostly. Her small size doesn't make her any less of a soft target. But she wants to try this and she wants to do her best.

But as the match begins she's again reminded that speed is not quite her forte either. She manages to dodge the most of the strike, but it still catches her enough to send her spinning and then bouncing on the mat.]

Kupoooo~

[She manages to stay in bounds though. Rolling back upright she crouches down and lunges forward, flapping her wings as hard as she can as she aims for his own center of mass.]
