Who: All New Arrivals and Curti Center Staff
When: April 15th-30th
Where: All over Vaikuntha, starting outside of the airship hanger
What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as ~~non-crazy~~ less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

... I wouldn't put too much weight on these if I were you.

[ Was he supposed to be helping his guild or not?? The Astrologian in front ot him gives an unamused glare, so he apologetically waves and steps away a bit. ]

Mine was "It is through love that you will find your voice", which sounds nice but also incredibly abstract.

Obviously that means you'll find another catch like--

No, Lyre. [ He looks incredibly embarrassed now while his moogle cracks up, practically on her back even in flight. ] How long have you been here.

[ Sakuya got fawned over and teased by some old friends the second he walked in, and he politely stepped out of the way so the newbies wouldn't get swarmed. There are a few questions on how Curti work was going, why so many people arrived all of a sudden, and finally what may distract them from all the other loaded questions: a request for a dance demonstration. ]

Of course I haven't been slacking, what do you take me for?

[ Sakuya never really practiced where others could see, though, so even his co-workers would be surprised. Following some minutes of warmup, the reserved young man disappears in the wait for the music, and when it begins, his movements effortlessly shift from snappy moves to graceful twists and cartwheels, the brief glimpses at his eyes show deep focus, like he was on a world of his own, but when your eyes meet it's as if the dance is for you alone. It's at this time that he feels free, and he's light as a feather. All too soon, the music ends, and he closes his improv on his knees, a hand raised to extend to the audience. His breath is heavy getting up, and he bows, he lifts his head with a smile. ]

Harmless Fun?
[ Sometime after the dance performance, guildmates asked if he wanted to try some of the weapons-- of which Sakuya trusted himself very little once he put very literal combat stilletos on his feet. ]

... This is terrifying I will never be able to do this. [ He's going to be walking around with potential blood near his feet... "But think of the newbies!" came a cheeky whisper, and Sakuya sighed in defeat. Let's get this over with. Sakuya is matched up with a woman who he is well-aware was more experienced, but this makes it safer as to make sure the spar ends with no one hurt. They both chose the same weapon, making this highly dependent on their legs and kicks.

Sakuya puts up a good fight (more defense, really), and he can hear some of the gasps as a knife nearly makes its way to his face a couple times. He deflects her blow with his own high leg sweep, and backflips out of the way of a thrust and he nails the landing. Like, nailed too hard. His shoe is stuck. The woman stares in stunned silence then just laughs at him. ]

Still a long way to go, little Sakuya.

... I'm aware of that. [ And with his defeat, she flipped her hair without so much as helping him with the shoe ordeal. They are bith congratulated by their guildmates for a good exhibition. Sakuya hoped it at least interested some of the otherworlders. He stands aside, wiping off sweat with a towel, you can talk to him before he hits a shower. It wasn't bad for his first time weaponizing dance, but he seems vaguely... annoyed. ]

Arito, Baby Baby Baby Shuuuuush
[ Arito was nostalgic, even if Sakuya hadn't spent very long studying there. But the second they entered the city, his smile disappeared and was replaced with a very clear grimace. ]

Oh no it's...

[ People were incredibly noisy. Everywhere. Sakuya had forgotten in the time he was away. ]

Alright everyone ready yourselves, we have come during a dangerous day.

Yun'Ashia, Theatre Kid

[ After everything they've gone through, Sakuya is more than happy to see Yun'Ashia. Sure, not all memories were pleasant, but this was where his family was and where he grew up. He happily tours the newcomers-- except on the part of Chocobo farms where he seems in an uncharacteristic rush, and most enthusiastically at the Grand Theatre. ]

Who's interested among you? Maybe we can negotiate a bulk discount... Ahh it's been so long! They have such great stories showing right now... A tragedy, a romance deconstruction, musical... this looks new too. I wonder what it's about...

[It's warm in Arito. The streets are clean, the cafes are many, and there's bound to be more giveaways at the Guilds. Okuyasu steps out of the airship with only hope in his heart, following Sakuya's lead on the tour.]

What's wrong?

[The Elezen and the oddly-dressed boy are easy targets for a group of Lalafell who make a beeline for the pair.]

They're... here...!!

[ He's so grim. So, so grim. ]

There's no escape. Prepare yourself!

I've been saving for that necklace for my girlfriend for ages and you know what she does right as I buy it! She dumps me on the spot! Well who cares! I'm going to find someone new! I totally don't care about all the gil I wasted on someone not worth it!

[ Sakuya looks to Okuyasu, who is probably extremely confused. ]

It's the holiday where everyone yells about their problems in public. How did I forget...!

[Indeed, he is confused as to why someone went up to him to complain about a girlfriend. What he understands is that his Lalafell is a jerk and needs to leave them alone.]

Seriously? Why'd they do somethin' like that?

Speaking of exes, my boyfriend never bothered to mention breaking up until he asked out another girl! How can someone's brain like that? Didn't he know that makes him look worse?

[The Lalafell woman groans while Okuyasu's eyes dart at Sakuya then back at her.]

Look, lady, I'm sorry about your relationship troubles but is this really--

[Their eyes shield immense fury when they glare at him.]

[ She'd probably be a skeptic too, except for everything she knows about cognitive psience. Less science, more supernatural, as she'd mentioned to the others, so long ago. Not that she's sure fortune telling really plays into that, but... well, weirder things have happened.

...

And once she's done, she'll head over to where he's standing, looking slightly exasperated. ]

I got "your destiny is closer than you think."

[ Was that their attempt at a sales pitch ]

Well that's...

Romaaaantic? Winkwink.

... Okay, again, no. Also, did you just say 'wink' instead of doing it.

[ Please pardon the moogle as she giggles again. Sakuya sighs with a shake of his head. ]

She's... harmless, mostly. Do they want you to think your destiny is as an Astrologian? I've had the Asterisk for a bit, so I can tell you a few things. The first of which is, no, you're not obligated to make up abstract fortunes.

[ Lyre why are you trying to be a wingmoogle. Just. Why. ]

I mean, I was already planning on looking into it. My friend Makoto suggested it.

[ Since... it was a pretty solid support class, all things considered. Not pure support, but there wasn't really anything like that on this world, from what they could tell. ]

It's supposed to be pretty good at healing and strengthening your allies, right?

[ Less wingmoogling than her getting kicks at others' expense, but she really is a piece of work. She is thankfully going off with a devilish grin to troll some other people's fortunes; it's no wonder Sakuya can't keep track of her. ]

That's about right. I've reached the level where I can lengthen the duration of my support skills, while our heals are less immediate compared to White Mages, but situational, helping them out once they're under enough pain. Our strongest non-Supreme skill should be good at helping wiping things out, allowing others to repeat strong skills which would normally tire them out.

Oh and... it also helps us not get lost at night so long as we can see the sky. That's not universal though.

[ Sakuya rubs the back of his neck with a quiet admittance. ]

To be honest, I mostly just didn't want to be in the front-line when I chose this. But stars are pretty cool.

[ Simple curiosity has led Arie into the dancer’s guild, despite knowing she wouldn’t be allowed to take on the job—hence the suspicious absence of a particular moogle as she noticed someone about to begin a demonstration. Quietly making her way through the crowd of people, her eyes are already full of wonder when...

Why, that’s none other than her dear friend Sakuya, absolutely lost in the rhythm of the dance that there’s no way he could have noticed her presence or the way her jaw practically fell open in shock. She remembered Sakuya’s dream quite well, but when had this been brought up? Mesmerised as she was in watching his face and the passionate movements, her surroundings may as well not have existed...

... Oh, the performance was over. Cheeks absolutely crimson, Arie is at a loss for how to react. Should she go congratulate him? Just slip away as quietly as she had snuck in? Well, clapping might be a good start— ]

Sylvarie Aila Jue! [ Oh shoot. ]

How dare you sneak away and watch this—! THIS!! This is indecent, look at your face!

Primrose, please! [ If her face became any more red, she was going to pass out...! ]
