Event || Worldwide Tourists

Who: All New Arrivals and Curti Center Staff
When: April 15th-30th
Where: All over Vaikuntha, starting outside of the airship hanger
What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as ~~non-crazy~~ less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

[Welp, that got him alerted. Makoto worried that asking him directly was a gamble.]

You did not mention it earlier, but the Inaba murders happened five years in my past. My father and I would watch the coverage of it and we were never satisfied of its outcome. I met Shirogane-san, and he was willing to disclose only some of the details behind the arrest.

[She closes her eyes as she considered the next move. Perhaps now it was time to give a little...] ...you also discussed internal worlds. This is relevant to me, because during my time there is a group called the Phantom Thieves that somehow enter find a way to steal a person's heart. While I don't mean to alarm you, I was wondering if the way you change a person's shadow may be similar to the Phantom Thieves.

That's the thing, 'cause Naoto was right: How do you even get into what happened without getting thrown into an institution? It sounds wild!

But I respect her decision. I mean, if she doesn't wanna get into it, then I shouldn't either. If it's any help, we didn't steal anything. People in the TV world got thrown in, forced to face a whole living monster made up of all the shit they feared and rejected. If ya rejected it fully, they went crazy and tried to kill ya.

That's... what happened to me. I dunno how they got the jump on me, but they did, and into a TV I went. The whole experience was nothin' I wanna go through again. I accepted those parts of me, got my Persona and helped others.

As for Naoto, I think it's best if ya just asked her. ...Him.

[He turned bright red, startled.]

I meant him! Crap, I screwed up! Don't- y-you mind forgetting I said that!?

[That wasn't an answer, but it wasn't denying it either. Well, that's fair. For everything he was able to say she had an interesting lead that she would never had known otherwise. Still, it wasn't like there was more stuff for her to try to understand. Like this whole entering the TV thing and-]

[Fortunately her brain caught up with her mouth before she said that last word. Of course, it took a very fast pair of hands to cover her lips to keep that from getting out.]

[He advanced on her to stop her from finishing that, but she did it all on her own, leaving him to uselessly make 'easy, easy' motions with both palms.]

L-like I said, I didn't say shit!

[Whoa whoa whoa. Whaaaaat? With the way he's reacting the chances of him saying that as a joke was slim. Could that really be true? Was Naoto Shirogane.... a she?]

[But that changed everything!]

...you're not joking.

[And then there's a sudden realization.]

--I HAVE A KOUHAI LIVING WITH HER!! AND HE'S A GUY!!

[He squinted a bit. Living with her... but the only other dude living with her right now is Ren. Is she talking about Ren? Kupo Nut Butter Guy?]

...Are you talking about Ren? The hell's that matter?! I'm a dude and we live in the same house!

YOU--?!

[She stops herself by raising up her hands before she went off. Before anyone could say anything she raises up a hand with a finger extended to suggest that she needed a moment.]

[No. Nono. He may be a bit dim, but he's not malicious.]

Tatsumi-kun, let me ask you.

Are you her boyfriend by any chance?

[He felt his stomach leap, then freefall into his shoes. What a strange response from her, but what a freakin' leap she took. Because he was NOT. He wasn't. Whatever impressions she had, they weren't true. What'd that mean about Ren, then? Why were people so weird lately?]

Wh-what kinduva question is that!? H-hell no! I-I never said- I ain't-!

She's cool, okay!? She's really cool and she's amazing and she's inspiring, and she does it all without breakin' a sweat sometimes, and I wonder how the hell she does it. S-so it ain't like I wouldn't go out or whatever, but I'm-

W-we're friends, you hear me!?

...G-good talk! Or whatever. I'm gonna...

[He backed off, visibly bristling, and beat for a hasty exit. For a slouchy guy, he could get a move on if he put his feet to it.]

...Run some laps. Got a lotta guilds to see!

[Oh. Oh. Crud. That was yet one more direction she wasn't expect this conversation going.]

[She'll follow and she's fast but freaking hell he was fast and for some reason she couldn't hear his footsteps as well as she should be able to? All he'd need was a good crowd or some darkness or...]

[Crud once he's out the door...]

No, wait, Tatsumi-san-!!

[Damn it, damn it, damn it, he could hear her following. What more did she want from him? He'd already broken every single suggestion and rule he'd been given, and he was going to get The Laser Eyes.

He was fine never getting The Laser Eyes.]

[He could just keep going. He could blow her off, and if she actually listened to him, nothing would happen and things would go back to normal-ish. Abnormal. Normal for here. But despite his best judgment, which pretty much described this conversation thus far, he stopped at the doors, but didn't turn to look at her.]

...I made a promise, and I already blew it! Why're you asking all this stuff? What's your damn goal?

[Then he stiffened, and turned only an eye over his shoulder. Prosecutors... that's right. He knew maybe a little about the court process, but he knew enough as far as he was concerned.]

...It's Naoto, isn't it? Is she in trouble? Or are you makin' trouble for her?

[Makoto flinched a little at the accusation, but knew that he had a point. She had been taking this a little too strong and now she had put himself in this defensive position.]

[She was going to have to be more careful from here on.]

I'll start over.

I want you to consider the situation a bit more deeply. Shirogane-san is (~~a girl~~) living with two boys. One of the boys is not aware of the situation and the other is (~~her boyfriend? not her boyfriend? have conflicted feelings?~~) ... in a complicated relationship with her.

Now I want you to imagine myself in that situation too. As an outsider, does that not sound... compromising for the girl?

I would not be comfortable with that arrangement, and I worry for Shirogane-san's sake. That's all.

[His gaze hardened. Okay, so Naoto lived with two dudes. Her grampa was a dude and she had butlers or something, who were also guys. So what was the big deal? But talk of complicated relationships (was it complicated? Did Naoto say anything? They were friends, right?), and being compromised... that didn't sit right with him.]

W-we're all just friends! If Naoto was uncomfortable, she's blunt as hell, she'd say somethin' about it. Right? I mean... I worry about her all the time, but she's tough.

Are... are you sayin' I should be concerned about Ren? Kupo Nut Butter Guy?

No...

[But this was going nowhere. She also knew that she had overreached into another person's business. She was going to still worry, but she's also starting to realize that she wasn't going to get anywhere here.]

...it would seem I overstepped my bounds. My apologies to Shirogane-san and you as well Tatsumi-san.

[She took a deep breath, knowing that this conversation was just about over. With the way that it bucked and reared--she was glad.]

[He sighed through his nose and wasn't sure if he believed the 'no'. Ren was going to start feeling some eyes boring into the back of his head.]

...You did. But you should apologize to Naoto, not me.

[He turned away.]

'Cause I gotta do that too, now.

[Shoulders high and mood soured, he wordlessly excused himself from the Guild.]
