What: Ganeshan, the resident Job Expert, will be taking the new arrivals around the the various Guilds so they can collect their chosen Job Asterisks as noted in their applications.

Enter the Master

[Each new arrival's iMog buzzes with a message instructing them to gather for a worldwide adventure to obtain the power of Vaikuntha. If they follow the invitation's instructions, they will arrive at outside of the airship hanger on the morning of the 15th, with their meager belongings packed.

An Enterprise-Class airship, the Ragnarok, hovers outside of the Curti Center. There is a flash of light on the top of the ship.]

"WELCOME!"

[A figure, minuscule at this distance, launches itself off of the ship and hurtles toward the ground. As he draws closer to the ground, he starts to flip, landing with a flourish. An armored figure, sans helm, turns his toothy Zora grin to the crowd. With a shimmer, his armor transforms into a white mage's robe, and he sends a rush of wind through the crowd for dramatic effect.]

"I AM GANESHAN, THE JOB MASTER! GYA HA HA HA! TODAY, YOUR LIVES WILL CHANGE FOREVER."

[Ganeshan shimmers again, ruthlessly abusing the Chemist's Modifier skill to once again shift Job Classes so he can lower the airship's loading dock with a wave of his hand.]

"I BELIEVE THAT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU HAS THE ABILITY TO MASTER THE JOB CLASSES. SOME OF YOU MAY MASTER MANY, OTHERS WILL PURSUE THE PERFECT MASTERY OF JUST ONE. BUT EITHER WAY, YOU'LL BE INCREDIBLE!"

[Ganeshan gives everyone a big thumbs-up. The out-worlders who are not scared off by this booming speech can feel free to enter the airship and prepare for their ride around the world. Hopefully some of the Curti Center's newest hires can serve as non-crazy less exuberant tour guides for the new arrivals.]

Around the World

[The Ragnarok will be stopping at every major city in Vaikuntha, with the exception of those cut off by the Imperial border closing. Characters can create top levels to respond to the Guild prompts and explore the cities themselves as the ship makes its stops. Each Guild provides information sessions, free food and trinkets for potential applicants, and once you're ready to receive your Asterisk, all you have to do is take some introductory lessons and fill out forms. Characters can receive up to two asterisks. Time to get to know your new world!

Hmmm... [ Hunk furrows his brow as Ena talks about her notes, and a flash of discomfort shows on his face as he remembers Futaba's post. He buries it down, deep beneath his fascination with Ena's efforts. ]

So... what are your thoughts? [ As he asks this question, Hunk picks up his slate, pushes a few quick buttons, and= flash -he takes a picture of the pages in her book. Then he pokes another button, and the picture displays on the screen. A motion on the touch screen even causes it to zoom in! ]

This is what I mean by taking a picture, by the way.

[ Ena is momentarily shocked by the flash, and was about to ask him suspiciously what he was doing with that bright light when he shows her the image on the screen. She practically stands in her chair, practically grabs the slate from him when she reminds herself to keep herself together. Regardless, her mouth is agape for a moment while she's in shock. ] You... You can do that? [ She hesitantly reaches out to poke at the screen, then look back at her notes, and... it's exactly the same. WHAT IS THIS SORCERY??? ]

Well, ah... [ CONCENTRATE, ENA, THINK ABOUT THE MAGIC SLATE LATER ] It turns out there was a small child who was saying similar things to what that moogle was saying. And that their insistence that we might be in danger might possibly hold some truth. One individual in the discussion mentioned he was previously summoned to another reality and his actions there might have some relation to the creation of the reality we're in now, Vaikuntha. [ She taps the spot on the page where she wrote that down. ] What he seems to imply, in essence, is that we might have been summoned here in such large numbers for a similar task, possibly relating to the things that the child and doomsaying moogle mentioned. [ A small smile slowly spreads across her face. ] I don't know about you, Hunk, but it is a slight relief knowing we might have been summoned here for a purpose, and not for naught.

[ Hunk notices the shock registering on her face. It'd be hard not to, since her jaw dropped, so as she composes herself he pushes a few quick buttons on his slate. Once she begins to speak, a wry little smile creeps onto his face amidst an intent gaze and the occasional nod. ]

Right, someone on the ship when we arrived had a similar idea. Was it Marshall Nevada, or someone else? [ Did she know who Sparks Nevada was? He'd find out soon enough. But he presents his slate to Ena once more, and that smirk is still there. ] Oh, also:

"I don't know about you, Hunk, but it is a slight relief knowing we might have been summoned here for a purpose, and not for naught." [ The smirk has turned into a full-on excited grin, like a parlor magician staring expectantly, begging for validation. Voice recording and playback were wonderful tools! ]

[ Ena is about to open her mouth to ask who this marshal was when-- ]

How--? [ She reaches out to grab his slate, and whether or not he lets her she presses her face closer to it anyway, her expression one of both confusion and amazement. ] What is this wizardry?! I just said that. Was that my voice? How did you do that?

[ And Hunk just bursts out laughing. He takes a moment to collect himself, and sputters out a simple- ]

Magic. [ -before stifling more laughter. His eyes go wide, and he starts poking at the tablet again. ] Nonono wait, it's-

"Wizardry?!"

[ He looks very smug and self-satisfied now. He won't say that this is incredibly endearing as well, but that's mostly because he's laughing even harder than before. ]

[ Oh my god!! Is he laughing at her?? She straightens herself in her chair and gives him a look. Confusion. She doesn't look very hurt by his sudden burst of laughter, but offended! ]

What?! What is so funny? Why are you laughing? [ She looks back down at the slate in his hands. ] Tell me how you did that!

[ He laughs his way through Ena's outburst, reaching a howling crescendo as soon as she demands to know how he engaged in his Wizardries. So Hunk's laughter pauses, and he just starts to sigh it out as he catches his breath for a few seconds, in between chuckles.

He even wipes a few tears from his eyes. ]

So you just have to find the Sound Recording app. [ Then he closes out to the slate's homescreen, pokes into an app folder, and opens the app ] I rearranged my apps so they'd be easier to get to, so yours is probably somewhere else.

So it opens, and when you hit record, you can talk about- [ A finger pushes the record button, and anyone with hearing would notice that Hunk has adopted an atrocious British accent, or as close as he can manage. ] -unicorns and fairy dust and tea and crumpets and chocobos-

[ And he pushes the button again, because he struggles to stifle his laughter again. ] And then you can save the sound file, or just hit playback now, and...

"Unicorns and fairy dust and tea and crumpets and chocobos." [ Hearing his own voice with that horrible accent and those ridiculous words is too much, and Hunk starts laughing again. ]
