Futaba definitely hit the nail right on the head, as evidenced when Connie flinches at her words. It wasn't Futaba's fault, really. Connie just had, like so many during that first day had told her, tried to keep trucking on and just push through all the badness. But it still hurt, being completely isolated from anyone she ever knew.
"N-no," Connie sniffles, leaving it at that. As tough as she was, Connie was still only thirteen years old. Somebody give this girl a hug already.
