Prompto enjoyed cute things like moogles, but he didn't really respond to Noodle much at all. He wasn't thinking about cute moogles or hugs, but he was watching them fight over him.
People shouldn't fight over him, he just wasn't worth it.
"I h-haven't had the chance to tell you." Prompto murmured from behind Gladio. He was losing control of the situation and he'd been slipping from the beginning. He really had the worst luck-
No. He couldn't think that way. He couldn't go down that hole or he'd never leave it.
"That's...two different things." He sucked in a breath, swallowing. "I only have one purpose at Noctis' side and that's to be his best friend. He needed a friend, that's why I'm here. That's why. No one-" He stopped himself, that wasn't true.
"Lady Lunafreya suggested it when we were kids. I barely know anything about where I came from. I know what you know. After the dream ended, I made it out of that building with Aranea's help. I tried to burn off this Astral-damned barcode that I didn't ask for, and I don't want." He sounded halfway to hysterics, but he was hanging in there.
"I wanted to die." Prompto confessed quieter, unable to meet their eyes. He thought he'd lost everything, he thought his friends would react like this.
