Ena makes sure she has enough strength in her own hand so that she's not overwhelmed by his, something she senses immediately. And when she senses him about to retract his hand, she moves to do the same. While she wasn't exactly the most observant type, she's made and practiced many handshakes throughout life in the castle, so she could at least control her first impression.
