"We are the protectors," he replied, both sincerely and resolved (in spite of everything). "Even if most aren't from Eos, we're all stuck in the same situation." Which left unspoken: even if it meant getting lost in my own memories a couple times.

His gaze softens a little bit, because yeah, there are memories he really does not wish to revisit. Which is why he's not automatically going back out there to continue the search. Even though he knows he's going to eventually, it won't be before he himself finds a modicum of chill.

"I won't stop you, but you should probably sit down for a bit before you think about heading out." Because he noticed how pale Regis got at the sight of the Ring. It would only make him more vulnerable. "Even an errant thought out there could get you trapped if you lose focus."

He rests a hand on his future dad's shoulder. "There's a lounge further in. The coffee's terrible, but the tea's fine."
