Megatron wasn't one for this sort of thing for a very long time; even back during his tenure as the warlord of the Decepticons, while victory celebrations could get quite rowdy (and bloody) when a planet was successfully subjugated or a great many Autobots were killed in one battle or another, Megatron never participated. There had always been another front that required his attention, another battle that needed to be planned, another threat to his rule that had to be squashed. There was no time to waste on such trivial, foolish matter as a victory celebration; the Lord of the Decepticons did not revel alongside the common grunts. Even during his time on the Lost Light he had kept apart from such celebrations when they happened; there had still always been work to do, and it was unlikely he'd have been welcome at most of them anyway.

But now Megatron recognizes there's value in such celebrations; taking time to celebrate victories both large and small, to relax, to take a moment and actually enjoy oneself. Of course there is still the fight to come, and that is important...but so is this. To celebrate life, and experience these little moments of joy, and the rush of grace that accompanies them. His time in the Functionist universe taught him that; every species saved from the Council, every success, every thwarted genocide and the work that was required to make that happen, it was necessary, for both body and Spark. What better way for people to come together?

There's a glass of Energon from the convertor in Megatron's hand as he makes his way through the crowds, making conversation and actually seeming to enjoy himself, and encouraging others to do the same while they can. Curiously, he's attached something else to his chestplate; a small golden badge that appears to bear the face of a smirking Cybertronian and might have once been flame-shaped, though this is difficult to tell given that a huge chunk of it appears to have been broken off.. The gold is also scarred and worn though it seems Megatron has taken quite a few pains to clean it up as best he can. Normally he keeps it safe in a small compartment in his chassis, but for this occasion he's brought it out and wears it with pride.

The glint of gold draws Minimus' attention to Megatron's hand. The dangers of Bahamut were too great to completely ignore, and he had always taken Megatron to be too serious to participate in festivities. That was one reason he found himself drawn to spending time with his former enemy: they had something in common.

He steps forth to have a better look at it, standing behind the imposing mech. "What is that you have in your hand?" The glass designed for humans is large in his irreducible hands.

Megatron is busy wiping away some juice that got flecked onto the Rodimus Star with a napkin when he hears Minimus behind him, inquiring about it. He takes a quick moment to finish drying it off.

"Something familiar." He says, and then turns and presents the battered, broken, yet gleaming badge bearing the familiar self-satisfied smirk to Minimus. "I found it waiting for me Starlight morning." Many people had received such mysterious gifts he'd discovered...and Megatron couldn't have been happier that the Star was his.

Ah. The Rodimus Star is in worse condition than his own - granted, Miminus kept the plating free of grime and stored in a safe, clean desk tidy when not in a study subspace compartment. No matter to whose their award was compared, it was expected that Minimus Ambus' Star would be in better condition. Still, this one had seen poor handling.

"What did you do with it?" Honestly, he expected better from Megatron. Not that Megatron was any good to begin with...but he refers to his dedication to detail.

"...Megatron, the chemicals in that drink stick to any metal without the use of water or lipids."

"Time happened to it." Megatron says simply. "Time and the struggle against the Functionists." He regards the badge as he continues. "What was it...we were evacuating Elpasos before the Functionists arrived on their converted Cybertron to cleanse the planet. This was...two hundred years after I was stranded?" He thinks. "Somewhere around there. It was before they decided to convert the planet to have a robot mode. There were complications with the evacuation, so much that the Functionists arrived with Cybertron; if not, we'd have been well away with the Elpasan population, but the evacuation was only 90% complete. The Last Light had to run interference with what other ships we had at the time to keep Cybertron busy while our ground forces finished up the evacuation. The Functionists got in one good shot...hit the ship in the habitation block where my habsuite was. But we got the Elpasans out, relocated them to a planet well away from the Functionists' path. Wasn't until later when the ship was docked for repairs at a friendly port when I found the Star had been damaged in the battle. After that I kept it in here-" He pats the compartment on his chest. "Where I knew it would be safe."

Minimus' chiding causes him to look up in mild surprise. "Ah, you're right." He says. "There were pitchers of water..." He looks around.

"Here." Minimus holds up a hand to grab a paper napkin off the table. He lets Megatron hold onto it while he walks to the water table to pour half a glass - any more and it would be difficult to transport without spillage. He then retakes the napkin and covers the mouth of the glass while he tips it over.

"Give that to me." There were many crevices in the Rodimus Star that requires attention to detail, and the thought of Megatron missing any groove crawls up this arms as if it were fast-acting rust.

Megatron watches as Minimus collects the necessary tools. When Minimus demands the Star, he hands it over without protest; the other 'bot will get it clean.

"How do you gauge our chances this time?" He asks while Minimus works. It's cold, impersonal stuff, asking him about the upcoming battle, but he knows Minimus will have been thinking about it, and more importantly, it's safe. While things have cooled a little between the two of them, Megatron knows Minimus still has severe reservations about him, and certain topics-many topics in fact-are still taboo. Strategizing about the coming battle should not be one of them.

Minimus holds the Rodimus Star with the tips of his fingers on the edges to reduce contact. He starts with the bottom of the medal, alternating between wiping the surface with the damp cloth and tilting it towards the light to illuminate any sticky residue.

"If the sky is an indication of our likelihood of defeating Bahamut and Empress Ramaa, then this normal color is reassuring. The state of the world is not as poor as it had been the first time we experienced it." There was a scratch. Minimus adjusts his hold on the napkin to get into the narrow passage. "With assistance from the natives of this planet, our changes are higher than zero for once"

He checks his progress. A million-to-on chance is still poor, but it allows for some leeway to victory.

"I am unsure how the Legendary Eidolons are meant to play a role. Do we expect them to fight Bahamut for us?"

"Which is a nice change of pace, I agree." Megatron nods. Yes, Rodimus and the Lost Light always seemed to make those kinds of chances work, and even Megatron had been known to make similar gambles during his time with the AVL, but it still wasn't his preferred method of doing things.

He nods, putting his hand to his chin in thought. "It's the reasonable assumption to make. The other Eidolons must be comparable in size to it, and we couldn't do much on our own to penetrate its scales the first time. The other Eidolons must be for dealing with Bahamut; our fight will be with Ramaa, I'm certain of that.

He taps his finger against his chin in thought. "Which means she must still have a hand to play, despite the fact that her plan to have Vaikuntha decimated before Bahamut's arrival are in ruins." The difficulty of course was they had no way of knowing what that last hand would end up being.

"I am not pleased with the possibility of her other plans replacing the original to have Bahamut destroy everything by itself. The military of Safer Osu may aid us in mitigating damage, but we do not know what powers Empress Ramaa holds."

The juice stain came out of hiding when his tilts it toward the window. A smattering of dried sugar dates Minimus to remove it.

"Nonetheless, I should assume that we do not use our Melodies in the upcoming fight."
