Anniversary Event: Defying Fate

What: The Heroes of Light relive the three days leading to the Apocalypse, again and again. With this come the chance for them to save the world, but also to explore opportunities otherwise out of reach. Will they find a way to save the world and prevent this terrible fate from coming true?

"Uh..." He thought about the plan, for once. They had to get to the pilot's room, obviously. Control room? "What about that place where they make the announcement? Then we can get everyone away from the wheel?" He supposed that one of the others would do a good job of sounding like they were in charge. But when he thought about it, Kenichi would actually sound confident.

"Kenichi? You wanna try doin' that? And Finn, can you fly this thing?"

"Hmmm. That would be the bridge or cockpit, depending on the size of the airship. It's going to be one of the higher points on an airship so that'll be good place to take control after the engine room. Once I see what type of airship we're looking at, finding out where that is shouldn't be a problem."

Judging by the lack of sounds from inside the hangar, the airship's crew weren't in. "As for piloting, I may be an apprentice but if it's one man-piloting airship, then it won't be a problem for me." Kenichi gave a final look around before leading them back to the hangar.

The hangar doors creaked as Kenichi slid them open. A Falcon class airship greeted the trio, chocobo and droid. She wasn't a top line model that probably never saw combat but she'll do. He couldn't see if there were any weapons modules on it but once he was on the bridge, he'd be able to tell. Thankfully, the crew left the loading door wide open. "You have got to be kidding me. That's one of the big things they tell you never to do. Oh well, at least they're making this easier for us."

"Definitely can't pilot, no," Finn answered, idly wondering anyway if he ever picked up some osmosis tips from Rey or Poe. Doubtful. The agreeing sound BB-8 made seemed to suggest the same.

Once they were in the hangar, it was a matter of walking over to the loading doors with purpose, like he was totally meant to be there. "BB, wanna do a little recon for us?"

With a little whoop, the droid rolled inside to check everything out.

"That's one sweet robot," Okuyasu commented. If only Stray Cat could walk around and fight off guards for him, he'd have an awesome pet. Instead, it sat on the windowsill and napped all that. It being a plant rather than a cat made no difference.

He turned to Kenichi. "So...we just walk in and steal it? Just like that? No fights, no gun chases?" This wasn't like the movies. This was disappointing and anticlimactic.

Kenichi shook his head at Okuyasu's disappointment. "Don't count your eggs before they hatch, Okuyasu. We should be lucky that airships don't have any high-tech locks like fingerprint ID. Besides seeing an airship suddenly go rogue in the air will surely set some alarms off."

He did find it odd that the hangar doors were unlocked and loading doors on the ship open. Perhaps the crew went on break and forgot to lock up behind them? It would be easy to think getting their airship stolen is a suitable punishment for being so careless but Kenichi still felt bad about borrowing their ship without permission.

"We better make this quick before anyone else comes-"

"Hey, uh, everything alright in there?" A young man's voice suddenly called out at the trio from behind. He probably was about Okuyasu's age and wasn't dressed like the other security guards, but instead dark green coveralls. There were some oil smudges on his face.

Uh-oh. That looked like a mechanic... which likely explained why the airship was just sitting here.

"Yeah, everything's fine!" he hurriedly answered. Then, uh, cleared his throat. "Is this airship docked for maintenance?"

Okuyasu stood facing the mechanic, thumbs hooked in his belt. "Is anyone fine right now?" He assumed that the threat of Bahamut would put anyone on edge, but this guy was kind of chill. Maybe he'd be chill with it leaving early. Yeah, that'll be fine.

"Uh, no, I mean," the mechanic was disarmed by Okuyasu's question. "Er, it's just that I noticed the hangar doors were open and..."

"Don't worry," Kenichi stepped up. "The Captain had asked us to check on something in the ship. Sorry, he meant to let you guys know we were coming before lunch. Could you give us an hour?"

The mechanic furrowed his brows and then pulled out the clipboard tucked under his arm. Kenichi's hand balled into a fist as he waited to see if the bluff worked.

The mechanic let out a reluctant sigh. "Alright. One hour. You guys are lucky there are still some other ships here in need of maintenance check." He waves the three off before walking away.

Once the footsteps faded away, Kenichi nodded to the others to get in. There was a good chance no one was inside the ship since they surely would've responded to the noise outside just now.

Finn, who had given Okuyasu a strange look at the question, sagged in relief when the mechanic left them to their own devices. He was quick to get on board the ship, searching around for the droid.

"Bee? BB-8? Ah-!" The little droid rolled in from around the corner, nearly barreling right into him. Nonpulsed, he warbled up at Finn who then turned back to the others. "I think he says the cockpits that way. No one else on board."

To Okuyasu, he had cleverly distracted the guard with his awesome question and saved the day. He should go out and infiltrate things more often. Man, they're such a good team.

BB-8 counted as part of the team. The brave little soccer ball was rolling right on in, and Okuyasu ran after him. They had to make a quick getaway.

"C'mon! Before he comes back!"
