Anniversary Event: Defying Fate

And luckily for them, they did stumble upon the man as he was in the process of finishing off the horde of monsters! The most surprising thing about the elderly gentleman likely wasn't how he was using a mere goldsmith hammer to hit the monsters, sending them flying away as if they were ragdolls.

It wasn't how he suddenly had his hammer grow in size, the tool now bigger than the man himself, yet still handled it with ease. It wasn't how he had leaped in the air and swung his hammer to keep hitting the poor monsters either. And it certainly wasn't how he summoned the giant pillar of light with his hammer that finished off the monsters.

No. The most surprising thing about him likely was how he did all that wearing nothing but sunglasses and smallclothes. As he landed, he put his hands on his hip and nodded satisfyingly at the monsters that were all deader than dead.

"All in a day's work for a Manderville man."

“Oh... my...”

If Nozomi had an idea, it went out the window. She couldn’t help but gawk at the man before her. He just obliterated them while in his underwear! What kind of man was he?!

“Well, maybe we could... n-no, no, we can’t get him involved with the fight, but we do need his help!” She said, reaffirming herself before heading towards the man. “Excuse me! Sir!”

Unfortunately... By the time she addressed him, the man had started doing a most gentlemany dance for the people who were in awe at his feats. He only stopped when Nozomi called him out.

"Hm? What is it young lady?"

Nozomi blinked at the dance before she shook her head. Eyes on the prize!

“Ah, yes. My name’s Nozomi, one of the many otherworlders brought here in the past year. I come to you because we need help. We’ve been chosen to face down Bahamut, but...” she let out a small sigh. “...I’m not here to ask us to join us in our fight. This isn’t your fight at all and I can’t ask you to fight for us. I want you to help us in other ways, even if it’s just returning to the Curti Center and giving us even a little bit of hope.”

Nozomi hung her head a bit. “I know it has to be an incredible waste of your strength to just do something so tiny like that, but I would feel so much better that, should Bahamut be defeated, your talents, whatever else they may be, are available for others than just the need for a one time fight...”

In the back of her mind, she knows she botched it...

"The Curti Center?"

At the mere mention, he nods.

"Oh oh oh, you have naught to fear! Twenty years ago, they helped me. Now I shall pay them back, but first—"

He looked at her and Corrin.

"I heard tales of tens of you having arrived this year. Is it only the two of you?"

Nozomi shook her head.

"No, there are plenty others here. We're all working on one similar goal - to prevent the world from falling into despair before we confront Bahamut and the Summoner."

If he presses, she'll certainly let him known about the time loops and all of that, but... need-to-know.

"It's a difficult task, but maybe if we put out these fires, they will help us in the end..."

"A quite fantastic task indeed."

A nod before raising his finger.

"I shall help in any way I can. However, communications will not be easy unless we have a reliable way to contact each other. Thus why I must now teach you the Manderville."

"Hmm, you're right!" Nozomi said, nodding as she pounded a fist into her hand. "But... the Manderville? What's that?"

Corrin finally manages to find her voice; this man-this Manderville man-having been stripped to his smallclothes was a surprise she had not been expecting, and this is the sort of thing that causes her to fluster easily, so she's let Nozomi do most of the talking (and her eyes kept solidly forward, if a little bug-eyed).


"You make it sound like some kind of dance you want to...teach us." And there's a distinct further reddening of her cheeks at the idea of this mostly naked older gentleman teaching them a dance. Oh Dusk Dragon above please don't be a dance.

"A most gentlemany dance! Wherever you may be in the world, so long as you gyrate your hips in this most gentlemany of fashion, I shall come to your aid as does the Moogle who senses the presence of Kupo Nuts!"

He then proceeds to demonstrate with a quite energetic and wonderful dance.

Take note some of the civilians behind him are also executing the dance at the exact same time with the exact same cadence. Learning the dance is, it would appear, a quite quick and exquisite process!
