With enough effort, they could be lifted, or the device on which the hook is attached could turn to manipulate the boxes as well. Just a matter of fiddling with more knobs along the wall.
For the most part, it seems like an ordinary room, though. At least for now, the path to the next floor in the non-flipped tower is more or less a straight shot to the door.
