They make eye contact. Ena tilts her head in confusion, listening to his questions. "It's Endo," she says, her tone suggesting the answer was obvious. "He's the one that sent the mes--"
But she's cut off. There comes a voice, one that obviously belongs to an old man, creaky and weary, but at the same time booming and somehow sticky-sounding. "It's a dangerous world for pretty girls like you," it says. "You shouldn't be here; you should leave now."
Despite how it seemed to surround all of them at first, the more the voice spoke, the more it sounded like it was coming from behind them. All at once, Ena and her party whirl around to look back towards the town square. "Come, take shelter in my church." And just as it says that, a shambling figure appears from the church doorway. A closer look shows a salacious grin creeping across the figure's face before it dashes off behind the rubble.
Just after the figure disappears, there's a rumble that fills the air... No, those are groaning sounds. Bodies the party previously missed begin to clamber out from the rubble, reaching for something, anything to grasp on to and feed on.
The top halves of the bodies that Verus had been cutting up begin to stir, trying to push themselves up with no avail. "Ha!" comes the Dwarf's booming laugh. He proudly slams his greataxe into the skull of the nearest zombie and pumps both of his fists. "I told you so!"
