Hunk had found himself whistling (poorly) along with the piano tune, so when it stopped, so did he, with a bit of a startle as he reached the top of the stairs. They could hear him, which was good, and that boy's voice sounded close enough that he just assumed it was Adrien. It was his memory, after all.

But it was the woman's voice that surprised him. The portrait on the wall didn't have a woman in it. And as he took a few more cautious steps down the hall, Hunk realized that Adrien never mentioned any female caretakers. No maids. No grandmother. No mother. So who was that other voice?

Curiosity overtook him, and Hunk found himself sneaking towards the outside of the doorframe, out of sight, but trying to surreptitiously peek in. He needed to figure out what he could now, so that as soon as the piece ended, he could step in.
