As soon as they'd come down into the ancient temple itself, Sephiroth had drawn his short katana and continued to hold it in a left-handed, reverse grip so that the edge lined up the back of his arm. There hasn't been much need for it, at all, but being caught off-guard especially in the maze of corridors before they came down a floor...the possibility had needed to be eradicated.

He hung a bit further back as Ashelia had advanced into the empty space, only following a few steps behind as then she'd turned back.
