The hug was surprising, but not unwelcome at all. If it could help Prompto feel just a tad bit better, especially after this news, then Ignis is more than willing to hug him as many times as he needs it.

Last time...? Ah. Probably at some point in the future because Prompto never brought this up in the past. Still- his opinion won't change. He runs his hand up and down Prompto's back slowly, hoping it would offer a bit of comfort.
